Experimental studies are conducted to investigate the Flow-Induced Vibration mechanism for cantilever plate model with the angle of attack (.alpha.=10.deg., 20.deg., 30.deg.). Research is divided into two parts. First, the flow fields around two dimensional flat plate model are investigated using LDV system. Second, the vortex shedding frequency and response spectra of cantilever plate are obtained experimentally using gap sensor and hot wire anemometer. Finite element method program was used in order to predict the flow field and pressure field around thin flat plate. And some predicted results were compared with the experimental data. The aspect ration of test model is d/t=25 (d; width, t; thickness). From the measurement of the flow field it was found that in the case of small inclined (.alpha.=10.deg., 20.deg.) relatively, the separated boundary layer at sharp leading edge developed smoothly downstream. With increasing the angle of attack of the plate, stagnation region was appeared on the back side of the plate and separated boundary layer was extended downstream. These trends are a good agreement with the computational results. It was found by analysis of response spectra of cantilever plate that the influences of vortex shedding frequency were important at the large of attack (.alpha.=30.deg.), and two peak values appear in entire test model at 24Hz, 150Hz.
According to the development of IT industry, prevalence of AOI equipment is spreading, and also requiring the high resolution of the camera used in the equipment. The weight of the camera is increased to obtain a high resolution, and thus increases the vibration displacement is a problem occurring in the picturing, camera motion control also becomes difficult. In this study, using a finite element analysis program NX/NASTRAN, the transient response of the camera was analysed which is subjected to an impact force due to inertia. The finite element analysis result is correlated with laser interferometer measurement. When AOI equipment is restructuring, the correlated finite element analysis model can be used to verify the authenticity of the new design.
In this paper, two calibration methods for angular vibration pickups using a precision rotary encoder are proposed. The KRISS (Korea Research Institute of Standards and Science) primary angular vibration calibration system and the calibration procedures are briefly explained. The rotary encoder is shown to be calibrated in two methods: The one is to use the laser interferometer to calibrate the rotary encoder under test and the other is to exploit the certificate of the encoder supplied. Complex sensitivities measured from the first are shown to be less than 0.1 % difference in magnitude and
Recently, concerns relating to the maintenance of large structures have been increased. In addition, the number of large structures that need to be evaluated for their structural safety due to natural disasters and structural deterioration has been rapidly increasing. It is common for the structural characteristics of an older large structure to differ from the characteristics in the initial design stage, and changes in dynamic characteristics may result from a reduction in stiffness due to cracks on the materials. The process of deterioration of such structures enables the detection of damaged locations, as well as a quantitative evaluation. One of the typical measuring instruments used for the monitoring of bridges and buildings is the dynamic measurement system. Conventional dynamic measurement systems require considerable cabling to facilitate a direct connection between sensor and DAQ logger. For this reason, a method of measuring structural responses from a remote distance without the mounted sensors is needed. In terms of non-contact methods that are applicable to dynamic response measurement, the methods using the doppler effect of a laser or a GPS are commonly used. However, such methods could not be generally applied to bridge structures because of their costs and inaccuracies. Alternatively, a method using a visual image can be economical as well as feasible for measuring vibration signals of inaccessible bridge structures and extracting their dynamic characteristics. Many studies have been conducted using camera visual signals instead of conventional mounted sensors. However, these studies have been focused on measuring displacement response by an image processing technique after recording a position of the target mounted on the structure, in which the number of measurement targets may be limited. Therefore, in this study, a model experiment was carried out to verify the measurement algorithm for measuring multi-point displacement responses by using a DIC (Digital Image Correlation) technique.

In this thesis, a new measurement system is implemented for depth data extraction based on the camera calibration of the known pattern. The relation between 3D world coordinate and 2D image coordinate is analyzed. A new camera calibration algorithm is established from the analysis and then, the internal variables and external variables of the CCD camera are obtained. Suppose that the measurement plane is horizontal plane, from the 2D plane equation and coordinate transformation equation the approximation values corresponding minimum values using Newton-Rabbson method is obtained and they are stored into the look-up table for real time processing . A slit laser light is projected onto the object, and a 2D image obtained on the x-z plane in the measurement system. A 3D shape image can be obtained as the 2D (x-z)images are continuously acquired, during the object is moving to the y direction. The 3D shape images are displayed on computer monitor by use of OpenGL software. In a measuremental result, we found that the resolution of pixels have
There has been studied flow to minimize the spot size to increase data capacity. Optical data storage devices are being developed near practical limits with wavelength and NA of 405nm and 0.85. There has been studied many types of next generation storage devices such as blu-ray multilayer system, probe based data storage and holographic data storage. Among these data storage devices, solid immersion lens(SIL) based near field recording (NFR) has been widely studied. In this system, SIL is the key component that focuses the laser beam with a very small size which enables ultra high data capacity. Therefore, optical performance evaluation system is required for SIL assembly. In this dissertation, a simple and accurate SIL assembly measurement method is proposed with wedge plate lateral shearing interferometer(LSI). Wedge plate LSI is cheaper than commercialized interferometer, robust to the vibration and the moving distance for phase shifting is large that is order of micrometer. We designed the thickness, wedge angle, material, surface quality and wavelength of wedge plate as 1mm, 0.02degree, fused silica, lamda/10(10-5) and 405nm, respectively. Also, we confirmed simulation and experimental results with quantitative analysis. This simple wedge plate LSI can be applied to different types of SIL such as solid immersion mirror(SIM), hemispherical, super-hemispherical and elliptical SIL.
To monitor the wind-induced responses of buildings, conventional real-time kinematic (RTK) methods based on two global positioning system (GPS) receivers (e.g., a reference and a rover) are widely applied. However, these methods can encounter problems such as difficulty in securing and maintaining a space for a reference station. With the recently developed virtual reference station (VRS)-RTK approach, the position of a structure can be measured using only a rover receiver. In this study, to evaluate the applicability of VRS-RTK methods in monitoring the lateral structural responses of frame structures, we performed free vibration tests on a one-story frame model (the first natural frequency of 1 Hz) and a three-story frame model (the first natural frequency of 0.85 Hz). To assess the reliability of the displacement and acceleration responses measured by the GPS, we performed a concurrent measurement using laser displacement sensors and an accelerometer. The accelerometer results were consistent with the GPS measurements in terms of the time history and frequency content. Furthermore, to derive an appropriate sampling rate for the continuous monitoring of buildings, the errors in the displacement responses were evaluated at different GPS sampling rates (5, 10, 20 Hz). The results indicate that as the sampling rate increased, the errors in the displacement responses decreased. In addition, in the three-story model, all modal components (first, second, and third modes) could be recorded at a sampling rate of 20 Hz.
The wall shear stress in the vicinity of end-to end anastomoses under steady flow conditions was measured using a flush-mounted hot-film anemometer(FMHFA) probe. The experimental measurements were in good agreement with numerical results except in flow with low Reynolds numbers. The wall shear stress increased proximal to the anastomosis in flow from the Penrose tubing (simulating an artery) to the PTFE: graft. In flow from the PTFE graft to the Penrose tubing, low wall shear stress was observed distal to the anastomosis. Abnormal distributions of wall shear stress in the vicinity of the anastomosis, resulting from the compliance mismatch between the graft and the host artery, might be an important factor of ANFH formation and the graft failure. The present study suggests a correlation between regions of the low wall shear stress and the development of anastomotic neointimal fibrous hyperplasia(ANPH) in end-to-end anastomoses. 30523 T00401030523 ^x Air pressure decay(APD) rate and ultrafiltration rate(UFR) tests were performed on new and saline rinsed dialyzers as well as those roused in patients several times. C-DAK 4000 (Cordis Dow) and CF IS-11 (Baxter Travenol) reused dialyzers obtained from the dialysis clinic were used in the present study. The new dialyzers exhibited a relatively flat APD, whereas saline rinsed and reused dialyzers showed considerable amount of decay. C-DAH dialyzers had a larger APD(11.70
