  • The paste on the glass or fabrication of the PDP(Plasma Display Panel) barrier rib was selectively etched using focused A $r_{+}$ laser(λ=514 nm) and Nd:YAG(λ=532, 266 nm) laser irradiation. The depth of the etched grooves increase with increasing a laser fluence and decreasing a laser beam scan speed. Using second harmonic of Nd:YAG laser(532 nm) the etching threshold laser fluence was 6.5 mJ/c $m^2$ for the sample of PDP barrier rib. The thickness of 180 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ of the sample on the glass was clearly removed without any damage on the glass substrate by fluence of 19.5J/c $m^2$beam scan speed of 20${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ /s. In order to increase the etch rate of the barrier rib material barrier rib samples heated by a resistive heater during laser irradiation. The heated sample has many defects and becomes to be fragile. This imperfection of the structure compared to the sample without heat treatment allows the effective etching by the focused laser beam. The etch rates were 65${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$/s and 270 ${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$/s at room temperature and 20$0^{\circ}C$, respectively.y.

  • Laser-induced combustions and explosions generated by high laser irradiances were explored by Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS). The laser used for target ablation is a Q-switched Nd:YAG laser with 7 ns pulse duration at wavelength of 1064 nm laser energies from 40 mJ to 2500 mJ ($6.88{\times}10^{10}-6.53{\times}10^{11}W/cm^2$). The plasma light source from aluminum detected by the echelle grating spectrometer and coupled to the gated ICCD(a resolution (${\lambda}/{\Delta}{\lambda}$) of 5000). This spectroscopic study has been investigated for obtaining both the atomic/molecular signals of aluminum-oxygen and the calculated ambient condition such as plasma temperature and electron density. The essence of the paper is observing specific electron density ratio which can support the processes of chemical reaction and combustion between ablated aluminum plume and oxygen from air by inducing high laser energy.

  • Laser-ablated ITO patterns showed the formation of shoulders at the edge of the ITO lines and a ripple-like structure of the etched bottom. When the laser ablation was applied in the fabrication of PDP panel, the laser-ablated ITO patterns showed a higher sustaining voltage than that of chemically wet-etched ITO.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of ILIB(Intravenous Laser Irradiation of blood) on Meridian-Heart Circulation CMP and Hyperlipidemia. Circulatory symptom of 20 patients was treated with ILIB. After 10 times' treatment, changes of total cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol, triglyceride and Meridian-Heart Circulation CMP value were observed. The results were as follows : 1. In observation of Meridian-Heart Circulation CMP value, significant increase was observed in both pre-ID generation and post-ID generation. So, distinctive observation between pre-ID generation and post-ID generation became not relatively significant. 2. In observation of Meridian-Heart Circulation CMP value, significant increase was observed in both left and right. So, distinctive observation between left and right became not relatively significant. 3. In observation of Meridian-Heart CMP value, significant increase was not observed in control group, but significant increase close to normal value was observed in treatment group after treatment of Intravenous He-Ne Laser Irradiation. 4. In observation of Meridian-Circulation CMP value, significant increase was not observed in control group, but significant increase close to normal value was observed in treatment group after treatment of Intravenous He-Ne Laser Irradiation. 5. In concentration of plasma total cholesterol and plasma triglyceride, significant decrease was not observed in control group, but significant increase was observed in treatment group after treatment of Intravenous He-Ne laser Irradiation. 6. Significant concentration change of plasma HDL-cholesterol was not observed in both control group and treatment group. From above results, it was thought that Intravenous He-Ne Laser Irradiation was significant effect on heart circulatory system in human body.

  • The laser absorption spectroscopy has been used for measuresurement of the xenon atoms in the resonant $1S_4$ and metastable $1S_5$ states in coplanar AC PDP. For the purpose of improving VUV luminous efficiency and optimization of PDP cells, it is important to study behavior of excited Xe atoms in a micro-discharge cell of a coplanar AC-PDP. We measured the xenon excited density of $1S_5$ and $1S_4$ state under mixture gas of Ne-Xe(10%) with gas pressure of 350 Torr and sustaining gap distance of 150 um.

  • Mercury-free lamp, external electrode fluorescent lamp (EEFL) which includes the xenon gas, is now going on the research for the replacement of mercury lamp. The densities of excited xenon atom in the $1s_4$ resonance state and the $1s_5$ metastable state are investigated in the EEFL by a laser absorption spectroscopy under various gas pressures. We have measured the absorption signals for both $1s_4$ resonance and the $1s_5$ metastable state in the EEFL by varying the discharge currents for a given pressure. This basic absorption characteristic is very important for improvement of the VUV luminous efficiency of the EEFL as well as plasma display panel.

  • Following their applications in cardiology, ophthalmology and dentistry among others, the advent of lasers in dermatology and urology had become the success story of the past decade. Laser-assisted treatments in dermatology and urology are mainly based on the laser-induced tissue injury/coagulation and/or ablation, depending upon the desirable clinical endpoint. In this review, we discussed the underlying mechanisms of the laser induced tissue ablation. In any medical laser application, the controlled thermal injury and coagulation, and the extent of ablation, if required, are critical. The laser thermal mechanism of injury is intricately related to the selective absorption of light and its exposure duration, similarly to the laser induced ablation. The laser ablation mechanisms were categorized into four different categories (the photo-thermally induced ablation, the photo-mechanically induced ablation, the plasma induced ablation and the photoablation) and their fundamentals are herein described. The brief history of laser treatment modality in dermatology and urology are summarized.

  • This technical note demonstrates the feasibility of using laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry for the characterization of U-7Mo/Ale5Si dispersion fuel. Our measurements show 5.0% Relative Standard Deviation (RSD) for the reproducibility of measured $^{98}Mo/^{238}U$ ratios in fuel particles from spot analysis, and 3.4% RSD for $^{98}Mo/^{238}U$ ratios in a NIST-SRM 612 glass standard. Line scanning allows for the distinction of U-7Mo fuel particles from the Al-5Si matrix. Each mass spectrum peak indicates the presence of U-7Mo fuel particles, and the time width of each peak corresponds to the size of that fuel particle. The size of the fuel particles is estimated from the time width of the mass spectrum peak for $^{98}Mo$ by considering the scan rate used during the line scan. This preliminary application clearly demonstrates that laser ablation inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry can directly identify isotope ratios and sizes of the fuel particles in U-Mo/Al dispersion fuel. Once optimized further, this instrument will be a powerful tool for investigating irradiated dispersion fuels in terms of fission product distributions in fuel matrices, and the changes in fuel particle size or shape after irradiation.
