  • Optimal process and system to produce the laser welded tube for one body formed bumper beam are studied. The calculated size of tube is a thickness of 1.4mm, diameter of 105.4mm and length of 2000mm. The tube is shaped from a cold rolled high strength steel sheet(tensile strength: 60kgf/$\textrm{mm}^2$ grade). Two roll bending method is the optimal tube shaping process compared to UO-bending, bending on press brake, multi-step continuous roll forming and 3 roll bending methods. Weld quality monitoring and seam tracking along the butt-joint lengthwise to the tube axis are also studied. The longitudinal butt-joint is welded by the $CO_2$ laser welding system equipped with a seam tracker and plasma sensor. The constructed $CO_2$laser tube welding system can be used for the precision seam tracking and the real-time monitoring of weld quality. Finally, the obtained laser welded tube can be used for one-body formed automobile bumper beam.

  • Laser welding of dissimilar metals has been widely used to improve a wear resistance and a corrosion resistance of the industrial parts. The objective of this research works is to investigate the influence of the process parameters, such as the welding for SM45C and STS304 with CW Nd:YAG lasers. The bead-on-plate welding tests are carried out for several combinations of the experimental conditions. In order to quantitatively examine the characteristics of the dissimilar welding, the welding quality of the cut section, stain-stress behavior and the hardness of the welded part are investigated. From the results of the investigation, it has been shown that the optimal welding condition without defects in the vicinity of the welded area and with a good welding qualify is 1600W of the laser power, 0.85m/min of welding speed and $4{\ell}/min$ of pressure for shielding gas.

  • Laser welding of dissimilar metals has been widely used to improve a wear resistance and a corrosion resistance of the industrial parts.   • 오늘날 지구온난화, 환경오염 및 주요 에너지원인 화석연료의 고갈에 대한 우려가 높아지면서, 전세계적으로 신재생에너지 및 청정에너지에 대한 관심이 급격하게 증가하고 있다. 따라서 화석연료의 대체 및 SOX, NOX와 같은 오염물질을 적게 배출하는 청정에너지로써 LNG가 폭넓게 사용되고 있다. 그로인해 LNG의 소비는 급격하게 증가하고 있으며, 그것을 운반하기 위한 LNG선의 수요 또한 수십 년 동안 크게 증가하였다. 본 연구에서는 LNG선의 생산성을 향상시키기 위해 LNG선용 스테인리스강에 대한 용접에 고출력 파이버 레이저를 이용하였다. 사용된 재료는 탄소 함유량이 0.03% 이하의 STS316L이며 두께는 8mm이다. 최대출력 5kW의 파이버 레이저를 열원으로 사용하여 비초점거리, 겹치기 용접 그리고 맞대기 용접에 대한 실험을 진행하였다. 실험결과, 겹치기 용접의 경우 2.0m/min, 맞대기 용접의 경우 3.0m/min의 용접속도까지 접합이 가능하였다.

  • It is important to investigate the relationship between weld process parameters and weld bead geometry for adaptive arc robot welding. However, it is difficult to predict an exact back-bead owing to gap in process of butt welding. In this paper, the quantitative prediction system to specify the relationship external weld conditions and weld bead geometry was developed to get suitable back-bead in butt welding which is widely applied on industrial field. Multiple regression analysis and artificial neural network were used as the research methods. And, the results of two prediction methods were compared and analyzed.

  • For laser welding in shipbuilding industry, gap bridging capability is one of the most important characteristics to achieve the high productivity and good weld quality. Recently, laser-GMA hybrid welding process is regarded as a distinctive method to overcome the tight gap tolerance with improving the productivity. In this study, the influence of process parameters on the bead formation was experimentally analyzed and the relationship between the process parameters and geometric imperfections was investigated. It was revealed that undercut, excessive weld metal, excessive penetration and incompletely filled groove were the major geometric imperfections. The optimized wire feeding and arc pressure were necessary to ensure the gap bridging ability. The approach to select the process parameters was conducted for butt welding with up to 2mm joint gap, in which the sound weld beads were generated without changing the welding speed.

냉연 압연 강판의 레이저 용접 공정 시 발생하는 응력 평가 (Evaluation of the Stress Occurring Phenomenon for Cold-Rolled Carbon Steel During a Laser Welding Process)

  • Residual stress caused in the weldments with high restraint force are often observed during welding in the weldments of Inner and outdoor materials or radial tanks. The reason is that quantitative analysis about thermal stresses during laser welding is lacking for this weldments. To verify Finite Elements Method (FEM) theory, the temperature was measured with thermocouple in a real time in this paper. Also analysis of the thermal stress for welding condition is performed by Comsol program package on various welding condition in SCP1-S butt welding. The principal stress in laser welding process is seen through the width direction. Also, it was confirmed that a change in base metal by thermal expansion made the stress in width direction stronger. Base metal close to the weld bead as the process progresses to the tensile stress in the compressive stress was varied. It was shown that the change of stress was quantitative from the bead at a certain distance.

  • 본 연구의 목적은 열처리 전 후의 보론강 레이저 용접성을 비교하는 것이다. 일반적으로 보론강이 핫스탬핑 공정에 사용되고 있으며, 핫스탬핑 공정은 강판을 오스테나이트 온도까지 가열한 후 성형과 동시에 냉각하는 방법이다. 열처리후 보론강은 1500 MPa 이상의 고강도를 가진다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 보론강 및 핫스탬핑강의 레이저 용접성을 조사한 후 비교하였다. CW 디스크 레이저를 이용하여 레이저 출력 및 용접속도를 변화시켜가며 맞대기 및 겹치기 용접을 실시하였다. 맞대기 용접 결과, 핫스탬핑강에서 완전 용입을 얻을 수 있는 임계냉각속도가 보론강보다 낮았으며, 겹치기 용접결과 완전 관통이 일어난 용접 조건에서는 접합부 폭은 용접속도와 관계없이 거의 유사하였다.

테일러드블랭크 용접을 위한 전단 공정 연구 (A Study on Mechanical Shearing Process for Tailored Blank Welding)

  • Weld bead quality in tailored blank(TB) is critically affected by edge preparation of sheets. The edge quality of prepared sheets for TB can be classified into straightness and the cross section quality of sheared plane such as a ratio of shear face, shear plane angle, etc. In order to have a good edg quality for butt-welding sheets, precision shearing will be recommended. In this paper, the feasibility of a conventional mechanical shearing as the edge preparation for tailored blanks is studyied. It reveals that fine shearing may not be the unique solution as it is generally accepted. To obtain the good shearing condition with a conventional mechanical shearing, experiments were carried out using Tahuchi method. The major parameters affecting a sheared contour are the clearance between upper blade and lower blade, and shear angle. The optimal shearing condition yields a very good straightness along the entire length of the cut, which gives a butt joint gap less than 10% of the base material thickness. The good cross section of sheared plane is also achieved in the optimal shearing condition such as a ratio of the shear face above 65%, a cross section's shear plane angle above 85%, little burr, which is providing finally good weld beads.
