Fabrication of Large-area Micro-lens Arrays with Fast Tool Control

  • This paper describes a fast tool control (FTC)-based diamond turning process for fabricating large-area high-quality micro-lens arrays. The developed FTC unit has a stroke of $48{\mu}m$ and a resonance frequency of 4.9 kHz. Micro-lens arrays were fabricated using a micro-cutting tool with a nose radius of $50{\mu}m$. The FTC unit was integrated with a force sensor so that the initial position of the micro-cutting tool with respect to the workpiece surface could be detected through monitoring the contacting force. The length and depth of the designed parabolic micro-lens profile were $190{\mu}m$ and $20{\mu}m$, respectively. A micro-lens array was fabricated on a cylinder surface over an area of ${\phi}55 mm{\times}40 mm$.

  • Ball-end milling process is widely used in the die and mold manufacturing because of suitable for the machining of free-form surface. Pencil cutting can eliminate overload in uncut area caused by large diameter of ball-end mill before finish cutting. As the ball-end mill for pencil cutting is long and thin, it is easily deflected by cutting force. The tool deflection when pencil cutting is one of the main reason of the machining errors on a free-from surface. The purpose of the research is to find out the characteristics of deflected cutter trajectory by eddy-current sensor.

  • Ball-end milling process is widely used in the die and mold manufacturing because of suitable one for the machining of free-form surface. During the process, the pencil cutting operation can be adopted before finish cut to eliminate overload in uncut area caused by large diameter of ball-end mill. The ball-end mill cutter for the pencil cutting is easily deflected by cutting force due to the long and thin shape, and the tool deflection in pencil cutting is one of the main reason of the machining errors in a free-form surface. The purpose of this study is to find the characteristics of deflected cutter trajectory by constructing measurement system with eddy-current sensor. It was found that the severe reduction of corner radius produced the overcut during the plane cutting. Up cutting method induced the overcut both plane and slope cutting, but down cutting one induced the undercut. From the experiments, down cutting with upward cutting path can generate the small undercut surface.

유리재단 문제에 대한 분산 합성 알고리즘 (A Distributed Hybrid Algorithm for Glass Cutting)

  • 본 논문에서는 유리재단 문제에 평균장 어닐링과 시뮬레이션된 어닐링 형태의 유전자 알고리즘을 결합한 합성 알고리즘을 분산 처리하여 적용한다. 유리재단 문제는 2차원 2진 패킹 문제로 주어진 원판에 요구되는 사각형 모양의 패턴들을 버려지는 부분이 최소가 되게 배치하는 조합 최적화 문제이다. 제안된 합성 알고리즘은 유전자 알고리즘의 다양한 연산자에 시뮬레이션된 어닐링의 온도개념을 추가하여 평균장 알고리즘에 의한 빠른 평형상태 도달을 유지하게 하였다. MPI를 이용한 분산 합성 알고리즘을 유리재단 문제에 적용하여 실험한 결과 기존의 평균장 어닐링 또는 유전자 알고리즘을 단독으로 사용하였을 때보다 최적의 배치 상태를 나타내었으며 최적해 접근 특성을 유지하면서 문제의 크기에 대하여 선형적인 수행시간 단축을 보여 주었다.

전라남도 일부지역 대규모 절토비탈면의 식물침입 (Plants Invasion in Large-scale Cutting Slopes in the Part of Jeollanamdo)

  • To investigate the plants invasion process and dominant species in large-scale cutting slopes, slopes elapsed one year to thirteen years after construction had been selected in five counties. The obtained results are summarized as follows : The species of high appearance frequency were Alnus firma, Arundinella hirta, Miscanthus sinensi var. purpurascens, Erigeron cancdensis, Artemisia princeps var. orientalis, Oenothera odorata, Lactuca raddeana, Lactrca indica var. laciniata, Lespedeza bicolor, Youngia sonchifolia, Populus albaglandulosa, and so on. The biological type of identified vascular plants was $Ch-D_1-R_{5-e}$. In time, plant coverage was increased gradually and average of plant coverage was 1.17% in slopes which elapsed one year, 42.44% after six years, 56.67% after eight years, and 69.17% after ten years. The dominant species in the surveyed slopes were covered with Alnus firma, Artemisia princeps var. orientalis, Erigeron cancdensis, Miscanthus sinensi var. purpurascens, Arundinella hirta, Lactuca raddeana, Oenothera odorata, Boehmeria spicata, Kummerowia striata and Artemisia montana of the 59 species. The conditions of location in large-scale cutting slopes are hard to fix and germinate of seeds, and extend plant roots in the slope soil. Hence, the highly appearance species and dominance species of the area will make plant coverage quick and slope stable.
