차량위치추적 시스템을 위한 다중 기준국 Inverted DGPS 시스템 (Multi-Reference Inverted DGPS System for Automatic Vehicle Location System)

  • For its simplicity and cost effectiveness in implementation, the Inverted DGPS is well suited for some specific applications like automatic vehicle location systems, where the monitoring station needs accurate position of the vehicles in the street. In the Inverted DGPS, the user sends its GPS position and associated satellite informations to the reference station, and the corrections are made at the reference station to get differentially corrected user position. A fundamental requirement in IDGPS is that the user and the reference station must use the same satellites when the corrections are made. But in practice, it is not often satisfied. Inverted DGPS is also suffered from performance degradation as the baseline become large like DGPS. IDGPS system using multi-reference station can resolve this problem. In this paper a simple multi-reference IDGPS algorithm is proposed and some experiments and analysis are peformed. Experiment results show that IDGPS can achieve the positioning performance as accurate as the DGPS can provide.

A Fault Detection Method of Redundant IMU Using Modified Principal Component Analysis

  • A fault detection process is necessary for high integrity systems like satellites, missiles and aircrafts. Especially, the satellite has to be expected to detect faults autonomously because it cannot be fixed by an expert in the space. Faults can cause critical errors to the entire system and the satellite does not have sufficient computation power to operate a large scale fault management system. Thus, a fault detection method, which has less computational burden, is required. In this paper, we proposed a modified PCA (Principal Component Analysis) as a powerful fault detection method of redundant IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit). The proposed method combines PCA with the parity space approach and it is much more efficient than the others. The proposed fault detection algorithm, modified PCA, is shown to outperform fault detection through a simulation example.

  • 衛星通信은 텔레비전 傳送을 包含한 大容量通信이 可能하고 任意의 局間을 容易하게 接續할수 잇는 長點을 갖고 있어 國際的 通信手段으로 重要한 地位를 차지하고 있으며 通信의 量이나 質도 多樣化됨에 따라 이에 對處하기 爲해서는 새로운 大容量의 衛星 또는 새로운 通信方式을 導入하여 國際間의 通信소통에 보다 큰 寄與를 하도록 努力하지 않으면 안된다. 그러기 위해서는 이의 積極的인 뒷받침으로 이에 關連된 諸搬 宇宙通信關係條約 및 規則等의 再檢討와 補充이 있어야만 될 것이다.

  • 본 논문에서는 GPS 신호가 자주 단절되는 환경하에서도 안정한 위치 해를 제공하는 반송파 DGPS 방법을 제안한다. 시계 바이어스 변화율을 이용하여 큰 오차가 포함된 측정치 채널을 제거함으로써 더욱 정확한 위치 해를 제공하는 알고리듬을 구현하였다. 가시위성의 앙각과 시계 바이어스 변화율의 관계를 살펴보고, 적절한 임계치를 제안하였으며, 구현된 알고리듬이 실데이터에서도 성능이 우수함을 상용프로그램과 비교하여 보였다.

  • Formation of longitudinally wave-like plasma density structure in the low-latitude F region is now a well-known phenomenon from the extensive studies in recent years. Observations of plasma density from multiple satellites have shown that the locations of the crests of the plasma density that are seen to be stationary during daytime are shifted after sunset. This phenomenon has been understood to be caused by eastward drift of the ionosphere at night. However, the eastward drift velocity of the ionosphere after sunset is not sufficiently large enough to explain the day-night difference in the longitudinal density structure. The just after sunset and the nighttime ionospheric morphologymay be affected by this drift after sunset. In this study, we will investigate the temporal variation of the phase of the longitudinal density structure and vertical plasma drift by analyzing the ROCSAT-1, TIMED/GUVI, and DMSP data and verify the role of the vertical drift after sunset in the change of the phase of the longitudinal density structure.

Territory Defense Strategy of the Wrinkled Frog, Rana rugosa

  • The advertisement call of anurans functions to attract potential mates. The dominant frequency of an advertisement call is generally getting lower with increased snout-vent length (SVL) of the caller Rana rugosa has an advertisement call tilth a particularly high frequency modulation. We conducted a playback experiment to verify the function of frequency modulation, and investigated the territorial behavior of the frog. The frog has five types of territory defense strategy. Strategy choice depended on the caller's SVL. Small males became satellites or lowered the dominant frequency of their advertisement call, whereas large males actively defended their territory with encounter calls. In response to high frequency (1107 Hz) playback, the frogs lowered their advertisement call frequency, and towered them further in response to the low frequency (1028 Hz) playback. In addition, the number of pulses in a call was increased in response to the playback. These results indicate that the frog avoids physical conflict with competitors by selecting a territory defense strategy suitable for the caller's size, and by lowering its call frequency to disguise its SVL.

  • This paper designs an integrated navigation system that uses the signals from both GPS satellites and pseudolites. While GPS satellite clocks are synchronized, pseudolite clocks are not exactly synchronized even though pseudolite can use 1PPS signal from the GPS receiver. This can cause large range error and can be solved by transmitting the correction information. Assuming that the positions of pseudolites are known, it is possible to determine the true range between two pseudolites.   • In the three-axis control of satellites by using on-board actuators, gyros are usually used to measure the attitude angles and angular rates. The gyros are operated by electronic parts and mechanical actuators. The digital components of the electronic parts consist of largely FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) as one of the methods for VLSI(Very Large Scale Integrated) circuit design, while the mechanical parts provide output signal directly by mechanical actuation of a spinning rotor. In this research, a mixed mode of gyro is implemented in FGA. In addition to the hardware implementation, the simulation study was conducted by using the SABER for the mixed mode simulator. Results for the practical implementation of the satellite ACS (Attitude Control System) interfaced with the data processing are also presented to validate the FPGA implementation.

Data Assimilation for Oceanographic Application: A Brief Overview

  • In this paper, a brief overview on data assimilation is provided in the context of oceanographic application. The ocean data assimilation needs to ingest various types of data such as satellites and floats, thus essentially requires dynamically-consistent assimilation methods. For such purpose, sequential and variational approaches are discussed and compared. The major advantage of the Kalman filter (KF) is that it can forecast error covariances at each time step. However, for models with very large dimension of state vector, the KF Is exceedingly expensive and computationally less efficient than four-dimensional variational assimilation (4D-Var). For operational application, simplified 4D-Var schemes as well as ensemble KF may be considered.

Designing Flexible Packets for Multi-Satellite Data Transmission in a Physical Network Separation Environment

  • The national satellite operation network, which supports multiple satellites, was designated as a Critical Information Infrastructure (CII) in 2017. The network was designed independently from the control network and the information network to enhance physical security. Planning is underway to establish a bidirectional data interface between networks. The data transmission system allows data flow only to the physical layer and the data link layer; hence, only one file can be transferred at any one time. This means that when large amounts of data are being transmitted, no other data can be sent simultaneously in urgent situations. Thus, this paper discusses the design of flexible packets for the transmission of data between networks in an environment where physical security has been enhanced through network separation and based on this, presents a method for transmitting data effectively.
