Effects of a Notebook Computer Supporter on Biomechanical Characteristics in Wrist Joint Muscles of Healthy Young Adults (노트북 거치대가 건강한 젊은 성인 손목관절근육의 생체역학적 특징에 미치는 영향)

  • Purpose: As laptop use increases throughout the COVID-19 pandemic and its use outside of traditional workstations proliferates, it is imperative to expand the limited research available regarding ergonomic exposure. This study aimed to identify the effects of a laptop supporter on biomechanical characteristics in the wrist joint muscles of healthy young adults. Methods: This was a cross-sectional observational study design with thirty-four healthy young adults as participants. They conducted a typing exercise performed under two different conditions, which were with and without a notebook computer supporter. This study measured the biomechanical characteristics of the muscles of the wrist joints including the flexor carpi ulnaris (FCU), the flexor carpi radialis (FCR), the extensor carpi radialis longus (ECRL), and the extensor carpi ulnaris (ECU). Measurements were taken three times: before typing, immediately after typing for 30 minutes with a supporter, and immediately after typing for 30 minutes without a supporter. The statistical method to compare the three different measurement conditions was the repeated measures ANOVA. Results: The participants showed significantly different levels of dynamic stiffness in both the FCU before typing and immediately after 30 minutes of typing with a supporter, and showed significantly different levels of dynamic stiffness in the FCR before typing and immediately after 30 minutes of typing with a supporter. The dynamic stiffness level immediately after 30 minutes of typing without a supporter was significantly different than that immediately after 30 minutes of typing with a supporter. However, the muscle tone was not significantly different among the three different conditions. Conclusion: The results of this study revealed that a laptop supporter used to correct the eye level of the electronic screen increases the dynamic stiffness of the wrist joint flexors, so it is necessary to consider the neutral position of the wrist joint during typing.

  • Portable communication devices such as laptop computers suffer impact-induced failure in their usage. Drop/impact performance of these products is one of important concerns of product design. Because of the small size of this kind of electronics products, it is very expensive, time-consuming and difficult to conduct drop tests to directly detect the failure mechanism and identify their drop behaviors. Finite element analysis provides a vital, powerful vehicle to solve the problems. The models are created with HYPERMESH, and the analysis is carried out with LS-DYNA3D. The analysis is focused on HDD impact behavior in acceleration peak values.

  • PDA(Personal Digital Assistants) and laptop computer that are small sized mobile implements are typical devices which capable of using wireless internet. They seem to have a tendency to possess multi-function as well as to miniaturize in accordance with taking advantage of today's digital convergence circumstance. It should be considered that the pointing input device of these mobile computer that have PDA size and laptop's performance has to be added to something very small instead of 4-button, 5-button navigator and with the electric pen. The basic framework for this study is to investigate the usability of the two input devices Trackpoint and Touchpad which regarded as a alternative pointing device for small sized mobile computer. 14 novice subjects compared a Trackpoint to a Touchpad across five curser-control tasks. The study found that subjects executed not more slowly with a Trackpoint input device than with the Touchpad. Observation shows that learning for Trackpoint appears to have had more than for the Touchpad. Subjects expressed preference for the Trackpoint in general work.

  • The backlight inverter used in a laptop computer is investigated in this paper. It has been difficult for the electromagnetic transformer in the inverter to have a high efficiency and compact profile. In this study the piezoelectric transformer(PT) is used to reduce the loss and volume compared to the standard electromagnetic transformer. Comparison with the experimental inverter with the PT has been shown to validated the simulation program using the equivalent circuit model of the PT. A simple dimming control circuit was experimentally demonstrated and shown to have broad control.

  • Increased use of PDA and Laptop has accelerated the development of wireless networking. With the tendency the need to support efficient and seamless data transmission technique has also been increased. However current mobility management protocol, such as the Mobile If, which is defined in RFC 2002, does not cover well these requirements. To satisfy these requirements, we should reduce Handoff processing time occurred by the movement of MN (Mobile Node) about the other networks. This paper proposes efficient Handoff mechanism on the new Mobile IP architecture using the Extended Macro that is a group organized with subnetworks, and sewed by a new added agent.

  • This paper presents an antenna design that can be applied to flexible transparent conducting film. The antennas shaping PIFA (Planar Inverted F-shpae Antenna) were produced on polyamide substrates, which are flexible. The IZTO/Ag/IZTO multilayer films were used for the antennas and exhibited superior electrical, optical and flexible characteristics. This study compared the transparency and performance of two antennas (IZTO/Ag/IZTO multilayer film, and Ag monolayer film). The operation frequencies were set to 5.18~5.32 GHz of WLAN (802.11a). The performance showed a maximum efficiency and peak gain of 89 % and 5.86 dBi, respectively.

  • This research, which was experimented by dividing tangible and intangible products, established the influence that affects recovery for consumers' complaint behavior and behavioral intention as per each different compensation program. In Experiment 1, the consumers, who experienced complaint behavior owing to company's mistake, have preferably recovered through the compensation program offered by the company. However, there was a significant difference in preference recovery between products that caused complaint behavior. According to the study result, the more clear preference recovery was shown in the case of purchasing laptop than the case of dining in family restaurant. Additionally, the consumers' emotion recovery was possible through compensation.; There was a emotion recovery disparity depending on product type between purchasing laptop case and dining in family restaurant case. The consumers, who experienced complaints, were only able to recover their preference, emotion, and behavioral intention through compensation of which recovery was greater in tangible product case than ordinary service. Meanwhile, there was no distinct difference between recovery compensation types even though the products were identical-type ones whereas it appeared that such tangible product which showed greater purchasing effort as laptop computer was more effective in stimulating emotion response. In Experiment 2, the purpose was to find out the difference between complaint behavior and its recovery process shown after purchase by Korean and Japanese college students, who have different consumer purchasing habits. The both consumers of the two countries, who experienced complaint behavior, demonstrated precise difference in preference recovery while the emotion and behavioral intention exhibited no disparity between the two consumer groups. In this experiment, it was learned that Korean college students were show-off purchase type consumers while on the other hand, the Japanese college students were famous product purchase type consumers. Thus, there was a clear difference in laptop computer purchase process and post-purchase evaluation between these two groups. In particular, the Korean college students had quicker preference recovery through compensation than the Japanese college students on account of their tendency to be consciousness of others. Nevertheless, there was no difference between the emotion recovery and re-purchase recovery and therefore, the compensation program for complaints was proven to affect the emotion and behavioral intention.

  • 일반적인 휴대용 기기와 마찬가지로 모바일 피씨(Mobile PC, laptop)에서도 배터리(Battery)는 빼놓을 수 없는 부분으로 이에 대한 테스트는 매우 중요하다. 배터리에 대한 테스트는 모바일 피씨 개발 시 충전과 방전을 수백 회를 반복하여 수행을 하게 되고, 이 배터리 테스트에 상당한 시간이 걸리게 된다. 컴퓨터 관련 부품의 빠른 발전과 함께 모바일 피씨에 대한 사용자들의 다양한 요구에 의해 모바일 피씨의 종류가 다양하게 분화되고, 또한 개발 기간이 짧아지는 추세에 있다. 이에 따라 많은 시간을 요구하는 배터리 테스트에 대한 개선을 위한 노력이 행하여져 왔다. 본 논문에서는 이러한 개선 사항에 대하여 알아보고, 이를 바탕으로 추가적인 개선점을 제시하고 그에 대한 시스템을 구현하고자 한다.

  • The WiBro to start June 2006 is mobile internet service with 60km/h, 3Mbps. And current WiBro service is used in Seoul, the metropolitan area and the local major cities. This study suggests WiBro technology and analyzes wireless communication technology to vehicle-to-infrastructure communications for the unmanned vehicle control. We were driving vehicle with two laptop computer's WiBro unit for V2I communication environment. So each RAS(Radio Access Station) on center is tested coverage area, transmission rate, latency rate, lost rate and transmission rate to parking area environment.

A Printed, Wideband Folded Monopole Antenna Coupling with a Parasitic Inverted-L Element for Bluetooth, WiMAX and UWB Systems (Bluetooth, WiMAX, UWB 시스템용 역 L형 무급전 소자 결합 프린트형 광대역 폴디드 모노폴 안테나)

  • This paper presents a printed, wideband folded monopole antenna for laptop and tablet computer applications. The proposed antenna is designed to cover bandwidth(2.3~10.6 GHz) of Bluetooth, WiMAX, and UWB system by using the printed folded monopole antenna having asymmetrical line width coupling with a parasitic inverted- L element. Also, wireless LAN band(5.15~5.85 GHz) which interferes with UWB system is rejected by inserting half-wavelength open stub in the folded monopole antenna. -10 dB bandwidth of the fabricated wideband antenna is 2.27~10.6 GHz (4.7:1) and -10 dB band-rejected bandwidth is measured as 700 MHz(5.15~5.85 GHz, 12.72 %). The gain and efficiency of the antenna except for the rejected band are higher than 3.93 dBi and 91.89 % and are measured as -2 dBi and 14.65 % at 5.5 GHz which is band-rejected frequency. The size of the antenna is suitable to install for small space of tablet and laptop computers as 12.75(1 ${\lambda}$/10)${\times}$12(1 ${\lambda}$/11) $mm^2$(${\lambda}$ is free space wavelength at 2.3 GHz). Therefore, we verified that the designed antenna is appropriate for wideband antenna of tablet and laptop PC applications.
