  • This study starts from the question about the possibility of landscape, especially the possibility to give a new vision in the aspect of publicity. Such a concept of landscape architecture made its appearance in the last decade of the 20th century, as the flexible network to include the changes and the specificity of the surroundings, which simultaneously focuses on the temporality-the uncertainty. Moreover landscape architecture can be defined as the architecture in which the interest on human activities lie in the center of the concept. By analyzing concrete examples, the landscape architecture can be defined in 3 aspects : unity of building and nature, void and public space, space of expansion. As a result of the analysis of landscape architects' statements, it can be said that the issues of publicity are always put at the starting point of landscape architecture with its attention to the way to associate an individual with the others.

  • This research aims at exploring the relationship between urban greenery and urban landscape and thereby deriving proper planning indicators of urban landscape, For the purpose, this research used survey research method which asked urban residents to answer the research questionnaires about the urban landscape which was presented by slide projection. The analysis results are as follows: 1) urban residents have highly positive image about the greenery; 2) they highly evaluate urban beautification and amenity function of the greenery; 3) the supply of the greenery is very short regardless of the survey locations; 4) due to the small amount of the greenery, its role in landscape is little. Landscape assessment can be approached from various aspects. Urban residents cognitively regard greenery important, however, in real situation it is not necessarily true. There is a discrepancy of the residents'expectation for the role of the greenery in the reality. Therefore, it is difficult to apply residents'evaluation directly to landscape planning. It is recommended that both planners'judgement and the residents'expectation should be balanced in the planning process.

  • Agricultural production facilities that have been established to support improving food production, farm income, and reduction of farming time have remarkable achievements as value-neutral devices or infrastructures, but recently they are pointed out as a factor that hinders landscape by changing the contextual values of rural area. Despite this timelessness, research on the landscape design of agricultural production facilities has not been conducted until now. Based on these research necessities, this study aims to improve the process of reviewing the landscape of agricultural production facilities by analyzing the impact of activities, policies, plans. The results of this study are as follows. First, the analysis of the literature and the related data were carried out. This presents the structural limitations of why landscape review is difficult in the process of reviewing plans and the limitations of current landscape laws, deliberations, and plans. The process of reviewing the plan has formed a functionally oriented closed network, and the government policy does not properly control the landscape design of agricultural production facilities. From the viewpoint of the study, results can be used as basic data for the study of the lack of agricultural production facilities and landscape.

  • This study is to analyze the satisfaction and the image evaluation of landscape elements in outdoor space by types of the university campus. The results are as follows. 1) Out of outdoor elements at university campus, planting area, resting area, access road, and water feature are recognized as major landscape elements. Among them, planting area and access roads are evaluated low in terms of satisfaction levels, therefore, improvement on these elements are required. 2) In outdoor space image evaluation, university campus has image such as 'simple', 'clear', and 'safe'. By scale of universities, both 'A' university, which is the biggest in terms of size of campus, and 'B' university, which has a medium sized campus, have a positive image. However, 'C' university, which is the smallest in terms of size of campus, has a passive and negative image. 3) 6 factors are extracted through Factor Analysis for image evaluation. All of the universities show positive image in the categories of 'clarity' and 'familiarity', however, 'B' university and 'C' university show negative image in the category of 'scale'. 4) In Correlation Analysis between landscape elements satisfaction level and image evaluation, it is showed that the group of landscape facility becomes a relation factor of overall image evaluation. As a result, the higher satisfaction level goes, the better image evaluation of overall outdoor space at university campus is.

  • This study analyses influences on partial work rates under whole work rates on landscape constructions in Ulsan Grand Park. The schedule management is one of the factors that are very important to the process management of landscape construction. The time process of the whole construction is supposed to be affected by several kinds of work that organize the whole construction. First, this study divides the construction of Ulsan Grand Park into 10 kinds of works: earth work, rain and sanitary sewage water work, water-supplying work, planting work, paving work, water proofing work, fountain work, instituting work and temporary work. Then the time-process curves of all kinds of work are statistically compared to that of the whole construction. The trial methods of statistics are lineal regression, non-lineal regression, and principal analysis. In the result of the non-lineal regression, the rain and sanitary sewage water work, the water-supplying work and the earth work strongly affected the whole construction. The principal analysis results show that the whole construction is affected strongly by the water-supplying work, the rain and sanitary sewage water work and the earth work. However the lineal regression is shown to be senseless because of its high collinearity.

  • This study was conducted to find methods of qualitative landscape assessment for vegetational landscapes using ecological analysis. The study site was Seoraksan National Park in Korea. For this study, differing unique landscape resources were categorized and identified according to ecosystems. After identifying the study areas, the relationship between trail visitor preference and the amount of visible overexposure caused by people to the resources was examined. Landscape resources chosen for ecological analysis at Seoraksan National Park were subalpine vegetation community, high mountain rocks, ombrogenous deciduous broadleaf forest in the valley area, edaphic climax community, big tree community, flowering tree dominant community, autumnal tree dominant community and needle-leaf forest in the subalpine area. As a result of the study, it was found that the landscape resources with the highest correlation to visitor trail preference were big tree community area, flowering tree dominant community area, and needle-leaf forest in the subalpine area. As a result of overlapping the analysis of the amount of visible overexposure to the landscape resources and the analysis of preferential use of trails by visitors, guidance for the appropriate season for each trail can be provided. Since a positive correlation exists between certain sections of the natural landscapes and visitor preference, ecological impact on landscape resource ecosystems did not appear to cover wide areas of the trails, but was limited to certain areas preferred by visitors.

  • This study is based on the analysis of the characteristics of waterfront scenery. Recently, waterfront development has expanded residentially, commercially and into leisure space. In the development of the waterfront, it is necessary to apply designs suitable for urban and various other waterfront areas. In this study, the natural scenery of the waterfront was researched with respect to the Korean Jingyeong landscape paintings and the main elements of the scenery were analyzed. In this study, 105 painting of Korean Jingyeong landscapes paintings were selected for the analysis of the waterside scenery. The paintings of Jeong Seon were studied to categorize streams topographically into mountainous, upper, middle, lower, and ocean types. In addition, major micro-topography elements, which are 13 water image elements and 13 staffage elements were analyzed. The main waterfront landscape elements are divided into 13 types. The waterfalls were divided into long waterfalls, short waterfalls, cascading waterfalls, and other aspects considered were line stream, curve stream, multi-curve stream, pond, water surface, flow surface, wave surface, rock side, pile sandy side, sandy side. There are 13 kinds of staffage elements, include pine forest, pine trees, fir trees, bamboo trees, willow trees, broadleaf tree, villages, houses, gazebo, boat, bridges, and people. The waterfront landscape by a river area was explained according to each characteristic of the waterfront landscape and staffage, and their changes were analyzed in each area. The 105 paintings were divided into 35 pieces of mountainous streams, 9 upper streams, 5 middle streams, 35 lower streams, and 21 oceans, and the change of each waterfront landscape and staffage was analyzed. Based on the topographical analysis of the waterfront landscape and staffage, the results can be summarized into 5 types of the waterfront landscape. Based on the micro-topographical characteristics of the waterfront landscape styles are as follow. In the mountainous streams, long waterfall and deep forest type are apparent, which depicts deep mountain waterfall scenery, and a multi-stream forest is the scenery of a picnic in the mountains, which is a representative form of mountainous streams landscape. In the upper-middle stream, the water-surface and gazebo type is predominant. In the lower stream, the sandy-gazebo typ scenery is predominant and the sandy depiction is unique to lower stream landscape. Pile sandy-dock type is life scenes where human activity highlighted, is a representative form of the lower stream landscapes. The characteristic of the coastal landscape is the serpentine rock scenery on the beach and the wave-serpentine rock type that forms the main coastal landscape. The study aims to propose significant design elements for a natural waterfront landscape planning based on the analysis of landscape in the paintings of Jeong Seon.
