As rural landscape is considered important elements of rurality, there are many concerns about management and conservation. Rural development administration have performed rural amenity resources survey project in South Korea from 2005 for verifying states and efficient management of rural amenity. There are some problems about ambiguous definition of rural landscape range and data overlap. In this research, we reviewed rural amenity resources survey focusing rural landscape and analysized elements of 50 complex landscape resources in 2008 rural amenity selection 100. Finally, we suggested landscape viewpoint resource table in place of rural landscape because it can minimize data overlap in survey project.

This study collected national secondary and tertiary nationwide natural environment survey data of the National Institute of Environmental Research as well as the National Park's secondary and tertiary natural resource research data executed by the Korea National Park Service. The data collection is aimed at reclassification the geomorphological landscape resources of each park in varying types. The results generated a total of 3,169 geomorphological landscape resources within all the national parks. Among all the geomorphological landscape resources, 794 landscape resources were judged as Level I, which accounts for 36.9%. Next, 546 landscape resources were judged as Level II, or 25.3%, and 459 landscape resources judged as Level III, or 21.3%. Lastly, 191 landscape resources were judged as Level IV, having the lowest conservation level, or 8.9%. The number of Level I landscape resources for each national park includes 207 sites on Seoraksan, 92 sites on Dadohaehaesang Park, 84 sites on Jirisan, and 60 sites at the Taeanhaean, respectively. Dadohaehaesang National Park, Seoraksan National Park, Taeanhaean National Park, Jirisan National Park, Songnisan National Park, and Gyeryongsan National Park were evaluated as national parks having excellent landscape resources. To use these excellent landscape resources, there is a need to increase visitors' satisfaction and increase their interest in and understanding of landscape resources. To achieve this, a landscape viewpoint map must be composed and installed at the entrance or at certain points to provide visitors with useful information regarding the geomorphological landscape resources.

A city evolves over time. It grows, transforms, and sometimes degrades. Chuncheon is at a turning point from a city souggling with regulations regarding clean water supply and a military encampment to a masterpiece city with a sustainable vision. The city is getting ready to restructure itself to become a world-famous culture and tourism complex expanding its physical boundary across the Camp Page site and absorbing Jungdo as a major tourist attraction. The landscape in the future blueprint of Chuncheon will play a great role in restructuring urban form. The regenerated in will have a new networked open space system as well as re-evaluated landscape resources. The hybrid theoretical practice called 'landscape urbanism' burgeoning in the fields between 'landscape architecture' and 'urbanism' can guide us in considering the terms of the relationship between a city and landscape when we design a future city Landscape urbanism is considered to be an effective framework by which we can diagnose the current status of a landscape in our contemporary urban design practice in Korea. This paper tries to provide a different perspective from the viewpoint of landscape urbanism to decipher the hidden implications of the social agreement on the role of landscape in urban structure by re-reading eight design proposals presented for the ChunCheon G5 international design competition based on the main principles of landscape urbanism. The G5 design competition is a great opportunity to test out new ideas on a city, demonstrating the relative values among various urban-design professional realms. First, this paper provides an overview of the main ideas of landscape urbanism based on the literature review and case studies. Second, framework categories are suggested in order to extract the explicit and implicit ideas on the landscape. Third, eight proposals are reviewed according to the suggested categories to situate the current landscape design of Korea within the mainstream of contemporary practice of landscape urbanism. Based on the review of eight proposals, the following diagnostic conclusions are made; first, the ideas of landscape urbanism have not been actively introduced in large-scaled urban landscape projects in Korea like Chuncheon G5. Second, it remains to be a big task for landscape professions to be able to participate in design consortiums on an equal footing. Third, In order to introduce and reify the ideas of landscape urbanism in Korea, it is inevitable and critical to test the ideas in both academic fields and professional practices to find the appropriately adjusted model of landscape urbanism.

Since Scenic Sites, heritages to protect the value of landscapes, include valleys and mountains, the cultural heritage protection zones and historical and cultural environments preservation districts are designated extensively. So the landscape protection effects of the designation of scenic sites should be examined. Accordingly, the purpose of this research is to present the methods of efficient institution of district for landscape protection of scenic sites. As the research subject, Cheongamjeong Pavilion and Seokcheongyegok Valley in Bonghwa (Scenic Site No. 60), which has the highest designation rate, was selected. The results of this research using the cumulative visibility technique of GIS are as follows. First, the method of selecting the viewpoint by preparing the reverse cumulative visibility from important landscape resources of the valley was presented. The reverse cumulative visibility can be utilized for rational selection of the viewpoint with regard to scenic sites. Second, the landscape analysis method in consideration of human viewing angle and the visibility of the background of landscape resources was developed. Third, the hierarchical landscape protection method of scenic sites utilizing cumulative visibility was presented. Fourth, it was established through on-site inspections that the method of institution of district is the practical method.
Some effective management schemes have been drawn up by reviewing the function and role of the forest in the viewpoint of groundwater. It is desirable for us to seek an model combined with existing green dam and under dam. Another model combined with under dam and divergent dam is also considered to be necessary depending on its geology. These can be an effective means in the present situation where large dam is not easy to be constructed in spite of growing demand of securing additional water resources.
The aim of this study is to explore the structural relationship between recognition to environmental factor and place attachment of the users of temple forest trail in Gyeongju National Park, and to suggest political implications on conservation management of National Park from the viewpoint of landscape attachment. Survey with a structured questionnaire was implemented to visitors to the Bulkuksa, a representative temple in Geyongju National Park. Structural equation model was developed from the analysis of collected data. Results showed that place dependence positively affected place attachment in significance, whereas place identity did not significantly affect place attachment. Place attachment was affected rather by place dependence(path coefficient=0.55). Place attachment positively affected the recognition of environmental factors in significance. Landscape use factors compared to facility use factors were affected rather by place attachment(path coefficient=1.01). This result verified the importance of landscape factors of National Park, and suggested a management plan focused on the landscape conservation of forest trail of traditional temple.

Darangyi paddy in Namhae Gachon village provides natural beauty with its distinct location. Darangyi is a traditional Korean landscape, shaping a circular form to serve continuous cultivation. Despite the paddy's landscape, it is difficult to preserve its natural scenery due to many factors such as inadequate visual analysis. Under the belief that there is a necessity to preserve Darangyi paddy, the research in visual features of the paddy began to illustrate the relevance between its viewpoint and landscape objects. First, we researched typical view structures. When considering the visual features, Darangyi paddy landscape objects has a viewpoint from the horizontality to its below, which its center area is about $-5^{\circ}{\sim}-30^{\circ}$. From the analyzed data, the scenary of Darangyi paddy, which most people agree its decency, is formed in a visually decent location. The above type of measure of visual structure in Darangyi paddy is expected to be applied in maintenance of foothold of views in the future. Second, the surrounding elements play important parts to form the whole landscape of Gachon Darangyi paddy. Although Darangyi paddy is the principal part of the scenary, the landscape analysis showed a high relevance with the paddy's identity, forest around the paddy, sky, ocean, settlements, and the roads in terms of visual perception. It was affirmed that those elements around the paddy play important parts in structuring and providing the beauty of the whole landscape. Various viewy objects are seen obvious especially in a long distance, and the splendid scenary proved that those viewy objects are in indispensable location. In order to preserve the paddy, it seems necessary to consider the surrounding envrionment of Darangyi paddy, not just the paddy's sole landscape form. Third, Darangyi paddy has a distinct seasonal characteristics. According to the survey analysis, the full heading time in spring and time when people can take a picture against the sun light proved magnificence of Darangyi paddy. Thus, it would be ideal to maintain Darangyi paddy by securing the sunlight condition with decent landscape view and the views from its surrounding environments or researching the ways to principally maintain the surrounding environments.
Landscape structure, habitat types, vegetation structure and biodiversity in the Bokha stream chosen as a reference stream were investigated to get ecological information necessary for restoration of urban stream degraded by excessive artificial interference. Landscape structure showed a slight change between before and after flooding. Habitat types of nine sorts were identified based on ecological information obtained from field survey such as micro-topography, hydrological characteristics, disturbance regime, and so on. Each habitat holds specific organisms to each site. Consequently, the number of plant communities, and species of benthos and fish increased as the kinds of habitat type increase. Ordination of habitat types based on vegetation, benthos, and fish data reorganized them into three groups of pool types of two kinds depending on whether they are connected to the water course or not and riffle one. Vegetation showed different stratification and species composition depending on topographical position in relation to disturbance cycle. Based on the results from this study, relationship between environmental heterogeneity and biodiversity was discussed and a restoration plan was suggested in a viewpoint of vegetation.

The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) has established the Globally Important Agriculture Heritage Site in 2002, designating the Agricultural Heritages with global value, and carries forward conservation and management. In Korea, the Agricultural Heritage system was adopted to conserve and manage the valuable resources of agricultural space in 2012. Although, the interest in the Agricultural Heritage has been developed, the valuation standards for unique value of the Korea Agricultural Heritage has not been yet established, so discovery and designation of the Agricultural Heritage are at a standstill. Meanwhile, a study from the conceptual viewpoint of the Agricultural Heritage, resources investigation for discovery of the Agricultural Heritage, index development, and a study for conservation and management methods through sightseeing are focused, and a study for the valuation standards about the Korea Agricultural Heritage are not focused. Therefore, the study has analyzed a value of the Korea Agricultural Heritage, and suggested the standards of evaluation a value of the Agricultural Heritage rightly. This study suggested the valuation standards of the Korea Agricultural Heritage used in discovery and designation of the Agricultural Heritage, so prepared a base to conduct the valuation considering the characteristics of the Agricultural Heritage. Such standards will contribute to conservation and management of the Agricultural Heritage in the future.
