  • There has been a steady increase in closed waste landfill. Sanitary and contamination prevention systems such as liner system, leachate treatment, gas treatment system were not installed in unregulated waste landfill. This study was carried out to introduce the rehabilitation method and case of unregulated closed landfill.

소규모 도시 생활폐기물 매립장 대기 중 VOC의 농도 측정 -경산시 삼풍동 매립장을 대상으로- (Measurement of VOC in the Ambient Air of a Small Scale Municipal Landfill Site -A Case Study at the Sampung-dong Landfill in Gyungsan City-)

  • In this study, we investigated the concentrations of volatile organic compounds (VOC) in the ambient air of a small scale municipal waste landfill site. Seasonal sampling was carried out simultaneously at two sites, i.e. one in the center of the landfill area, and the other at a boundary site. Among 38 target VOC, toluene appeared to be the most dominant compound, followed by benzene. and xylenes. The higher levels of BTX imply that paint -containing materials and/or organic solvents are the most significant sources of the VOC in the landfill environment. Seasonal variations for the samples collected at the landfill site indicated that the VOC concentrations tend to be higher in the spring and fall season and lower in the winter season. In addition, night- time concentrations appeared to be generally higher than day-time. Such daily variation might be due to more stabilized atmosphere during the night-time. Similar patterns were also found in samples collected at a boundary site. This study demonstrated that the municipal landfill, although it is small -scaled, could be an important emission source of atmospheric VOC, particularly in the vicinities of the landfill. Thus, an appropriate control strategy is required to prevent any undesirable secondary pollutions from the environmental sanitary facilities such as landfill.

  • 가스와 물이 공존하는 쓰레기 매립지에 개설된 여러개의 포집정으로부터 매립가스와 침출수의 추출량을 정확히 예측한다는 것은 매우 어렵다. 그러나 매립지 공극에 포함된 침출수와 가스의 상대적인 투과능력을 파악할 수 있다면 추출량을 어느정도 예측할 수 있다. 즉, 현장과 유사한 실험환경에서 침출수와 가스의 상대유체투과도를 측정하여 이 값을 다공질 매질을 통과하는 다상 유체유동방정식의 입력자료로 사용함으로써 포집정으로부터 각상의 추출량을 얻을수 있다.

  • These days, the maintenance of closed waste landfill come to the fore social problem such as legal maintenance period, after closed maintenance deposits, stability evaluation guides and environmental survey for closed landfill management. Therefore the many non-sanitary closed waste landfill has been removed by selection and transfer to sanitary landfill and incineration. When the remove the non-sanitary landfill, the pollution level of bottom soil was investigated by related government law. In this case study, the soil contamination survey was performed to evaluate the pollution level of non-sanitary closed landfill bottom soil. Based on this study, the pollution level of studied non-sanitary landfill bottom soil was content with related government law for third area(factory, parking lot, gas station, road, railroad use etc.).

  • Waste body settlement is an important aspect of management of landfill sites both during the operational and the post-closure phases. Settlement in landfill waste is caused by combination of load, creep and biodegradation induced effects. In this paper, settlement characteristics of closed waste landfill were studied by analyzing in situ measured data and computer simulation technique. Techniques for the analysis of load-induced and creep settlement, and for their implementation, can be adapted for landfill waste. The estimate of settlements from models shows a increase according to time.

매립장 사후관리종료를 위한 유기물 함량비 산정방법 (An Estimation Method of Organic Matter Content Ratio for the Termination of Post-closure Maintenance of a Landfill)

  • This paper examines an assessment method for terminating the post-closure maintenance of a landfill using a simplified landfill gas model. The case study site is the Sudokwon Landfill in Incheon city, which was closed in 2000. The deviations of the results obtained by the regular model and the simplified model were both slightly over 10% from the measured data. Also, the deviation of the simplified model from the regular model has been less than 5% since 2005. Thus, the simplified model could be applied to other landfills that have been closed for at least 5 years. Additionally, the results of the mass balance analysis using the simplified landfill gas model indicated that 39% of the organic carbon was discharged, leading to organic carbon and organic matter content of 7.2 and 17.6%, respectively, in the landfill by the end of 2018.

  • 바이오리액터형 매립지는 매립지 내부로 침출수나 폐수 같은 수분의 공급을 통하여 폐기물의 분해를 촉진하기 위하여 운영하며, 이러한 수분 공급은 매립가스를 증산하고 결국 매립지 조기안정화에 기여한다. 최근 바이오리액터형 매립지 운영을 위한 환경법이 제정되었으며 이에 따라 국내 최초로 수도권매립지에 도입하였다. 바이오리액터형 매립지의 안정적인 적용을 위하여는 매립지 내부의 수분분포 파악이 필수적이며 이를 통해 해당 구역에 적정하게 수분이 유지되도록 한다. 이를 위하여 매립지내부 수분분포 파악을 위하여 전기비저항탐사를 실시하였다. 본 연구에서는 수도권매립지 제2매립장 내에 침출수 재순환과 함께 장기간 전기비저항탐사를 수행하였다. 그 결과, 전기비저항값이 계절적 온도 변화에 큰 영향을 받고 있는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 이에 따라 본 연구를 통해 조사된 온도와 전기비저항값의 상관관계를 통한 보정방법을 이용하여 바이오리액터형 매립지를 안정적으로 운영할 수 있도록 하였다.

사용종료 매립지의 지반안정화 후 매립가스의 변화 (A Study on Variation of Landfill Gases in Completed Refuse Landfill Site after the Stabilization)

  • 매립이 완료된 소규모 매립지의 쓰레기층에 대하여 JSP 공법으로 지반안정화 후 재이용시 응용자료로 제공하기 위하여 공법전과 후의 매립가스 변화를 알아보았다. 부지 내에 매립된 쓰레기로부터 발생되는 매립가스를 안정화전과 안정화 직후 및 28개월이 경과한 후에 대하여 측정하여 비교 분석 하였다. 이 결과 매립가스 중 $H_2S$$NH_3$는 각각 안정화전 123.51ppm과 171.54ppm로 TWA값을 초과하여 문제가 되었으나 안정화 직후 각각 55.59ppm, 20.51ppm으로 낮아진 후 다시 시간경과에 따라 9.04ppm과 11.82ppm으로 낮아졌고, 매립지에서의 주요 발생가스인 메탄과 그 외 다른 매립가스를 측정한 결과 안정화 후 극히 미량 검출되었거나 검출되지 않아 안정화전 문제가 되었던 가스의 발생이 지반안정화를 통하여 줄어들었다.

매립지 악취가 주변 대기질에 미치는 영향 예측 - 청주청원 광역매립지 사례연구 - (Prediction of Malodorous Landfill Substances Effect on Ambient Air Quality - A Case Study on Cheongju·Cheongwon Metropolitan Landfill -)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate concentration level and characteristics of malodour substances generated from landfill site in C city. Also, it is tried to predict distribution of concentration level using ISCST3 model around landfill site. From the results, it can be confirmed that twelfth-class malodour substances such as ammonia, methyl mercaptan, hydrogen sulfide, dimethyl sulfate, dimethyl disulfate, toluene, acetaldehyde, styrene, propionaldehyde, butylaldehyde, n-Valeraldehyde, xylene were generated from landfill site. The levels of the malodour substances were lower than that of permeable concentration regulated by odor control law in Korea. However, the concentration of malodour substances including methyl mercaptan, hydrogen sulfide, acetaldehyde, and propionaldehyde exceeded threshold limit value(TLV). It was seemed that these substances caused the problem of offensive odor around circumstance of landfill. The concentration of malodour substances was higher in slant than in upper part of landfill. The concentrations of malodour substances measured at night time were shown higher level than those at night time because atmospheric condition was stable at night time. It showed that the concentration of malodour substances were higher in spring. The results of atmospheric diffusion model predicted that tolerance limit level of hydrogen sulfide and methyl mercaptan was detected within nearly 5km from the boundary of landfill.

도로성토사면의 안정성 분석시 원지반 투수성의 영향 (Permeability Influence of Base Soil for Analysis of Road Landfill Stability)

  • Stability of embankment is influenced on landfill condition, permeability, shear strength and soil engineering propensity and so on, and need examination in reply because is different according to change of soil property of foundation ground and permeability condition. Analyzed seepage behaviour by finite element method for embankment, and change permeability of base to analyze effect that permeability of ground water table formation before embankment and analyze seepage behaviour to typical embankment in this research. In the case of permeability of foundation ground is 10 more than landfill permeability, rise of groundwater table was changed slightly. Pore water pressure was decreased slowly in landfill after rainfall. The effect of permeability of foundation ground was effected in change of pore water pressure. For permeability of foundation ground is 10 more than landfill, stability of road landfill was small changed during rainfall. But in the case of permeability of base soil similar to landfill permeability, road landfill stability was large decreased during rainfall.
