A Study on the Development of Three Wavelength Solar Bank By Mercury-Halogen Lamps Combination Method (수은-할로겐 램프 조합방식 삼파장 솔라뱅크 개발에 관한 연구)

  • We developed three-wavelength solar bank which is a very important part of the solar simulator with the commercial mercury lamps and projected halogen lamps. This was developed to satisfy simultaneously following three points: the ${\pm}10%$ uniformity of irradiance of the target area and irradiance in the each wave region and $1120W/m^2$ maximum irradiance of the solar in the summer. We used spectral radiance to determine the standard of the spectral irradiance and developed the perfect three-wavelength solar bank,considering of directionality, irradiance distance, interval both lamps, lamps combination and lamp numbers based on the measured spectral irradiance. To proof the capability of the three wavelength solar bank, We carefully analyzed color differences and heat transfer. As a result, we found that three wavelength solar bank was much better than commercial infrared lamp bank in terms of the color differences, heat transfer phenomena.

  • In this paper, a solar power emotional LED lightening street lamps with multi control sun tracker is presented. The proposed system has a multiple control sun tracking function and high quality emotional LED lamps. The system is designed to absorb maximum sun lights by temperature sensor and humidity sensor of control circuits. A battery charge-discharge controller is developed for high efficient usage of battery charger for utilization of new and renewal energy. An interface circuit for remote monitoring and controlling is included in the developed system. The proposed multi tracking solar power emotional LED street lamps is better than conventional systems in aspect of tracking operation and energy efficiency, and expected to be a leading model for next generation solar power street lamp system, because it is a new technology combining sun tracking solar power system and emotional lightening system.

Light Output Characteristics of an Electrodeless Discharge Lamp Using H-Discharge of External Coil Configuration (외부코일형 전자유도결합방전을 이용한 무전극 램프의 광출력 특성)

  • This paper investigates the light output characteristics of an electrodeless H-discharge lamp. The existing cylindrical fluorescent lamps were wound around with an induction coil of varying size, and were driven by RF power. The light output and the luminous efficacy were measured according to variations of the induction coil gap and the lamp power, respectively. The experimental results show that the luminous efficacy of the lamp is as much as existing electrodeless lamps and the luminous efficacy of lamps are high between 10W and 20W. Theoretical analyses using computer simulation show that the circuit matching is easier in the external coil configuration than in the internal one, and that the current and the power distributions near the coil are shower in t.

  • Use of nonlinear loads, such as power converters, fluorescent lamps and adjustable speed motor drives, is expected to grow rapidly. All of these loads inject harmonic currents. This paper presents the active filtering of the harmonic distortion generated by the compact fluorescent lamps (CFL). The Instantaneous active and reactive power theory (the p-q Theory) is used to design the control of parallel active filter. The control scheme has been verified using Matlab/Simulink with SimPower Systems through a set of simulation tests under different load conditions. Also, the tuning of the active power filter is performed to improve the quality of the electrical power supply.

A Study on the Light Weight Hand Lamp for Explosion-Proof Type (휴대형 방폭등의 경량화 연구)

  • For lighting of dark and hazardous workplace such as compartment of ships under construction, workers should use hand lamps of explosion-proof type. However, the heavy weight of such lamps has prevented most impatient workers from using such types of lamps extensively. In this paper, we developed a light weight hand lamp of intrinsic safety type which reduced the weight a lot while maintaining or improving the lighting and explosion-proof function. We made a prototype which consisted of lamp fixture and high frequency power supply. Testing results show that the hand lamp meets well all the explosion-proof testing requirements of the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency. And more, we surveyed the explosion protection technology of a light weight hand lamp, and suggested the advantage/disadvantage to apply lighting of hand lamp about economical aspect.

A Comparison Characteristics on the Structures of the LED Traffic Signal Lamp Controller for the Domestic Use (국내 LED 교통 신호등용 안정기 구조별 특성 비교)

  • Instead of the incandescent lamps the LED lamps have been used on the traffic signal lamp with the advantages of small loss, no lens and long life. In this paper, we have compared three kinds of the LED controller structures and showed the LED array decision methods. We studied the temperature characteristics on LED and the temperature compensation network. The experimental results showed that the electrical characteristics of three kinds of the LED controller structures were different each other. We concluded that the temperature compensation is the important technique, the best compensation network has the ${\pm}10%$ variation for the luminous intensity.

  • The conventional Three-Stage electronic ballast is stable, but Two-Stage electronic ballast has been researching because of efficiency. Three-Stage electronic ballast is consisted of PFC circuit, buck converter, and inverter circuit, but Two-stage is consisted of PFC circuit, Buck-Inverter full bridge circuit. The Buck-Inverter full bridge inverter consists of two half bridge inverters for low frequency switching, and high frequency switching. In the case of street lamp it is far from a lamp to a ballast, the conventional pulsed high voltage ignitor can not turn on the HID lamps because of reduction of ignition voltage. Therefore, it needs to do the research on a resonant ignition to turn on the HID lamps. Therefore, in the Two-Stage electronic ballast which has the resonant tank for ignition, the transient resonant current because of low frequency changing is analyzed, the novel algorithm is proposed to resuce the transient current.

  • This paper presents an architecture for driving multiple parallel cold cathode fluorescent lamps (CCFLs) for back lighting applications. The key to the architecture is a proposed capacitive coupling approach for lamp ignition. This system is consist of a flyback converter, a single inverter to drive multiple lamps and conductive floating reflector. The topology is capable of driving a number of parallel lamps with independent accurate lamp, current regulation and improving cost effectiveness with significant reduction in size and weight, compared to typical high frequency ac ballast. Experimental demonstration results for ten of parallel CCFLs with simultaneous ignition.

  • This paper reports the development of an electronic starter for fluorescent lamps, which is so smartly designed that can be used directly in existing installations. The key point of the design lies in the protection of lamp filaments by sufficient preheating and at the same time in the control of time constant for start-up circuit. The starter is consisted of three system parts: a rectifier pact, a switching part. and a gate control part. The characteristics of the developed electronic starter is compared with those of a conventional glow starter. As a result, blackening of lamps is almost reduced due to the stable and idealized start-up characteristics. And, furthermore, it is shown that its slaving time is shortened at about half the level of the conventional one and the starting power is also reduced.
