일, 노동, 당신은 어떻게 생각하십니까?: Q방법론을 활용하여 (Work, Labor! What do you think about ? ; Using the Q-methodology)

  • 본 연구는 우리가 하고 있는 일상의 업무, 일, 노동에 대하여 과연 어떻게 생각하고 있으며, 어떤 의미가 있는지를 고찰하고자 하였다. 특히, 본 연구에서는 '질적연구'의 하나인 'Q방법론'을 활용하여 일반 근로자를 대상으로 자신의 일, 노동에 대한 생각에서 출발하였다. 이에 일련의 Q분석과정을 거치면서, 다음과 같은 분석 결과를 도출하였다. 첫째, 유형화 분석결과 3개의 유형이 추출되었고, 각 유형별로 강조하고 있는 Q진술문을 바탕으로 다음과 같이 명명하였다. <유형I>은 일, 노동은 '축복/행복', '휴식', '애인', '보람'과 같은 진술문을 강조하고 있어, 「긍정형」으로 명명하였다. <유형II>는 '괴로움', '하루시작', '의무', '전쟁'과 같은 진술문이 강조하고 있어, 「부정형」으로 명명하였다. <유형III>은 '동료 및 벗'과 '학습' 등이 긍정진술문으로 나타났고, '하루시작', '의무', '휴식'등은 부정진술문으로 나타나고 있어, 「긍정중립형」으로 명명하였다. 분석결과에서 볼 수 있듯이, 우리의 일상에서 빼놓을 수 없는 존재인 '일', '노동'은 꼭 해야만 하는 축복이고 행복이며, 동료나 벗이기도 하지만, 그 존재의 가치는 적당한 '휴식'을 전제할 때 가능한 것임을 알 수 있다. 더불어 Q방법론이 가설발견적 접근방법으로써의 유용성과 더불어, 향후 실증연구로의 확장연구를 기대한다.

IT 아웃소싱의 가치에 관한 연구: 한국 산업에 대한 실증분석 (Value of Information Technology Outsourcing: An Empirical Analysis of Korean Industries)

  • Information technology (IT) outsourcing, the use of a third-party vendor to provide IT services, started in the late 1980s and early 1990s in Korea, and has increased rapidly since 2000. Recently, firms have increased their efforts to capture greater value from IT outsourcing. To date, there have been a large number of studies on IT outsourcing. Most prior studies on IT outsourcing have focused on outsourcing practices and decisions, and little attention has been paid to objectively measuring the value of IT outsourcing. In addition, studies that examined the performance of IT outsourcing have mainly relied on anecdotal evidence or practitioners' perceptions. Our study examines the contribution of IT outsourcing to economic growth in Korean industries over the 1990 to 2007 period, using a production function framework and a panel data set for 54 industries constructed from input-output tables, fixed-capital formation tables, and employment tables. Based on the framework and estimation procedures that Han, Kauffman and Nault (2010) used to examine the economic impact of IT outsourcing in U.S. industries, we evaluate the impact of IT outsourcing on output and productivity in Korean industries. Because IT outsourcing started to grow at a significantly more rapid pace in 2000, we compare the impact of IT outsourcing in pre- and post-2000 periods. Our industry-level panel data cover a large proportion of Korean economy-54 out of 58 Korean industries. This allows us greater opportunity to assess the impacts of IT outsourcing on objective performance measures, such as output and productivity. Using IT outsourcing and IT capital as our primary independent variables, we employ an extended Cobb-Douglas production function in which both variables are treated as factor inputs. We also derive and estimate a labor productivity equation to assess the impact of our IT variables on labor productivity. We use data from seven years (1990, 1993, 2000, 2003, 2005, 2006, and 2007) for which both input-output tables and fixed-capital formation tables are available. Combining the input-output tables and fixed-capital formation tables resulted in 54 industries. IT outsourcing is measured as the value of computer-related services purchased by each industry in a given year. All the variables have been converted to 2000 Korean Won using GDP deflators. To calculate labor hours, we use the average work hours for each sector provided by the OECD. To effectively control for heteroskedasticity and autocorrelation present in our dataset, we use the feasible generalized least squares (FGLS) procedures. Because the AR1 process may be industry-specific (i.e., panel-specific), we consider both common AR1 and panel-specific AR1 (PSAR1) processes in our estimations. We also include year dummies to control for year-specific effects common across industries, and sector dummies (as defined in the GDP deflator) to control for time-invariant sector-specific effects. Based on the full sample of 378 observations, we find that a 1% increase in IT outsourcing is associated with a 0.012~0.014% increase in gross output and a 1% increase in IT capital is associated with a 0.024~0.027% increase in gross output. To compare the contribution of IT outsourcing relative to that of IT capital, we examined gross marginal product (GMP). The average GMP of IT outsourcing was 6.423, which is substantially greater than that of IT capital at 2.093. This indicates that on average if an industry invests KRW 1 millon, it can increase its output by KRW 6.4 million. In terms of the contribution to labor productivity, we find that a 1% increase in IT outsourcing is associated with a 0.009~0.01% increase in labor productivity while a 1% increase in IT capital is associated with a 0.024~0.025% increase in labor productivity. Overall, our results indicate that IT outsourcing has made positive and economically meaningful contributions to output and productivity in Korean industries over the 1990 to 2007 period. The average GMP of IT outsourcing we report about Korean industries is 1.44 times greater than that in U.S. industries reported in Han et al. (2010). Further, we find that the contribution of IT outsourcing has been significantly greater in the 2000~2007 period during which the growth of IT outsourcing accelerated. Our study provides implication for policymakers and managers. First, our results suggest that Korean industries can capture further benefits by increasing investments in IT outsourcing. Second, our analyses and results provide a basis for managers to assess the impact of investments in IT outsourcing and IT capital in an objective and quantitative manner. Building on our study, future research should examine the impact of IT outsourcing at a more detailed industry level and the firm level.

의료기관 종사자들의 상사인식, 직무가치 자긍심, 직장에 대한 자부심 (Recognition of Seniors, Self-esteem for Job Value, Pride of Workplace on Hospital Workers)

  • This study is focusing on the fact that Medical bodies are a labor-intensive organization in the technological field which needs technical knowledge and concerted efforts and then explaining the job value and the workplace value on the basis of trust in terms of a sense of organizational unity. The study reveals that, the higher recognition of their seniors the medical workers have, the higher level of self-esteem for job value they have. In terms of personal characteristics, educational experience has a meaningful influence on self-esteem for job value; in terms of job characteristics, the period of one`s service and monthly salary have a meaningful influence on it. And, it is found, the higher the pride on workplace, respect and trust in seniors, loyalty to seniors and self-esteem for job value are, the more proud they feel of workplace.

우유생산비 조사 및 계산상의 문제점과 합리화방안 연구 (Problems in methodology for estimating cost of milk production and its improvement)

  • Accurate estimation of milk production cost is very important for dairy farmers in establishing strategies for business management (e.g. planning a program for milk production, deciding the size of business and investment, determining the milk price for sale). Since the estimated cost of milk production is used as an important index to determine the basal price of milk in Korea, there has been much interest and debate on the method used to estimate milk production cost among the stakeholder. This study was thus carried out to identify problems in the current methodology for estimating cost of milk production, and to find a better way to improve it. We propose several alternatives and better ways to improve the current method for estimating cost of milk production. Estimation of the income and cost per head should be based on the number of cattle converted to grown cows. Cost estimation per liter of milk should be made for both whole milk and 3.4% milk fat corrected milk. The value of purchased cows and raised replacement heifers should be the same as their market value. The productive life span of cows should be less 4 years, and the terminal or salvage value of cows needs to be 30 to 40% less than her initial value. When calculating depreciation of cows over the productive life span, however, the salvage value should be 0 or 1 Korean won. On calculating labor costs, the farm labor wage corresponding to the average wage of nonfarm industrial workers should be assumed. Beside of these, better estimation procedures for other items are also given. The proposed methods from this study should improve the accuracy of estimation of milk production cost and help to achieve consensus among the stakeholder.

A Study on the Interrelationship of Trade, Investment and Economic Growth in Myanmar: Policy Implications from South Korea's Economic Growth

  • Purpose - This paper addresses the concepts of FDI-Trade-Growth nexus in Myanmar's economy and empirically investigates the interrelationships of trade, investment and economic growth to reveal the growth model of Myanmar's economy. Additionally, this paper also addresses the cooperative strategies between Myanmar and South Korea through a case study related to South Korea's economic growth. Design/methodology - Our empirical model considers the interrelationship among FDI, trade, growth, labor force and inflation in Myanmar. This study employs ARDL (Autoregressive Distributed Lag) to conduct an analysis of the FDI-Trade-Growth relationships using the time series data from 1970 to 2016 and a conducted case study of South Korea provided for practical implication on cooperative strategies between Myanmar and Korea. Findings - Export equation was chosen through the diagnostic tests. Our main findings can be summarized as follows: Export in Myanmar is positively influenced by labor force, FDI, capital formation and negatively impacted by import and instable inflation rate in the long run. In the short run, GDP and import positively influence export. The Granger causality test proves that Myanmar is an FDI/labor force-led Growth economy, where FDI and labor force are main drivers of export followed by GDP in Myanmar. The case study of South Korea provided that Korea's tax and credit system for promoting export-led FDI industries and cooperative units for joint ventures between Korea and Myanmar in export-led FDI industries are recommended. Originality/value - No study has yet to be conducted on the interrelationships of macroeconomic factors from the perspectives of FDI-Trade-Growth Nexus in Myanmar under the assumption of labor force and inflation rate as fundamental conditions. The current study also covered a relatively longer period of time series data from 1970 to 2016. This paper also conducts a case study of South Korea's experience in order to evaluate the findings and provide better policy implications.

지방공사의료원의 투자효율과 경영성과 (Investment Efficiency and Management Performance of Korean Regional Public Hospitals)

  • Objectives : This study examined relations between investment efficiency and management performance as indexes related to productivity of Korean regional public hospitals. Methods : The analysis data are financial information of Korean regional public hospitals from 2011 to 2014. For the indicators, value added to total assets, value added to productive activity tangible fixed assets, and value added to personnel expenses, operating margin to revenues, net profit to total earnings, and ratio of value added. Results : Significant relevance was not shown among indicators of investment efficiency. However, Significant relevance was shown between value added to personnel expense and productivity per value added. Conclusions : It confirmed that outside support funds like subsidy did not have effect on improving the management performance. Also, it could be known that availability about input of capital and labor was not realized organically.

요양보호사의 인간중심케어와 서비스 질의 관계 -요양보호사의 감정노동과 직무만족의 매개효과 중심- (Effect of Long-term Care Worker's Person-Centered Care on Service Quality of long term care facility -Focusing on mediating effects of long term care worker's emotional labor and job satisfaction-)

  • 본 연구에서는 요양보호사의 인간중심케어와 직무만족, 감정노동, 서비스 질 간의 관계를 분석하였다. 연구대상 및 조사방법은 전국의 장기요양시설에 근무하는 요양보호사 460명을 대상으로 자기 기입식 설문지를 활용하였다. 연구모형에서 독립변수는 인간중심케어, 매개변수는 직무관련 감정노동(표면행위, 내면행위)과 직무만족, 종속변수는 서비스질로 구성하였다. 모형의 적합성과 서비스 질에 영향을 미치는 각 요인들의 직접효과 및 간접효과를 검증한 결과 모형의 적합도는 적합한 수준이었고, 감정노동 중 내면행위가 서비스 질에 영향을 미치는 중요한 변수임을 알 수 있었다. 특히, 감정노동은 인간중심케어의 가치와 서비스 질에 매우 큰 영향을 미치고 있어 중요한 매개변인 역할을 한다는 것을 확인할 수 있었다. 또한, 인간중심케어가 감정노동을 매개로 하여 서비스 질에 영향을 미치는 총 효과는 통계적으로 유의미한 것으로 나타났고, 내면행위와 서비스질의 관계는 정(+)적 상관관계를 보인 반면, 표면행위와 서비스질의 관계는 부(-)적 상관관계를 갖고 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 위의 연구 결과를 토대로 인간중심케어에 있어서 요양보호사들의 감정노동과 서비스 질에 대한 임상적, 학문적 관심을 환기시킬 필요가 있음을 제안하였다.

타타리메밀의 생력재배 기술 (Labor-saving practices in Tartary buckwheat(Fagopyrum tataricum) production)

  • 타타리메밀의 생력재배기술 확립을 목표로 파종, 제초, 수확방법의 개선을 도모하였다. 산파(손뿌림)는 종자량이 10a당 6 kg 정도 소요되었으며, 줄뿌림파종기는 4.5 kg, 복토직파기는 3.2 kg정도 소요되었다. 복도직파기를 이용한 기계파종의 경우 종실 수량이 주당 3.4 g으로 산파 시 종실수량 주당 2.4 g에 비하여 월등한 수량성을 보였다. 이것을 10a당 수량으로 환산하면 복토직파기 파종에서 113 kg으로 산파 80 kg에 비하여 우수하였다. 라쏘만 처리한 경우에 비하여 혼용과 조합 체계 처리에서 방제가가 90% 이상으로 높았으며 수량은 혼용(라쏘+그라목손)의 체계 처리 시 가장 높았다.

카지노종사원의 감정노동이 소진 및 직무만족에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Emotional Labor on Burnout and Job Satisfaction)

  • 본 연구는 카지노기업 종사원의 감정노동이 소진 및 직무만족에 어떠한 영향을 미치는지 검증하고자 실시하였다. 분석 결과, 카지노기업 종사원의 감정노동 요인 중 심층행위는 정서적 탈진에 부(-)의 영향을 미치며, 표면적 행위는 정서적 탈진에 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 심층행위와 감정제어는 개인적 성취감 결여에 부(-)의 영향을 미치며, 표면적 행위는 개인적 성취감 결여에 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 드러났다. 심층행위와 감정제어는 비인간화에 부(-)의 영향을 미치는 반면, 표면적 행위는 비인간화에 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 드러났다. 다음으로 카지노기업 종사원의 감정노동이 직무만족에 미치는 영향을 분석한 결과, 감정노동 요인 중 심층행위는 직업환경에 부(-)의 영향을 미치며, 표면적 행위는 직업환경에 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 심층행위와 감정제어는 종사원의 보상 및 가치공유에 정(+)의 영향을 미치지만 표면적 행위는 보상 및 가치공유에 부(-)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 드러났다. 한편 카지노기업 종사원의 감정노동은 공정성에 유의한 영향을 미치지 않는 것으로 나타났으며, 감정노동 요인 중 감정제어만이 종사원의 근무환경에 정(+)의 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다.

산업연관분석을 이용한 클라우드 컴퓨팅 산업의 경제적 파급효과 분석 (An Analysis of Economic Effects of The Cloud Computing Industry)

  • Recently, cloud computing market is growing geometrically in both private and public area, and many global companies in various domains have developed and provided cloud computing services. In such situation, Korean government made multiple plans for domestic cloud computing industry. However, most research institutes have focused on market size and status information, which makes actual effectiveness of cloud computing service hard to recognize. In this study, we define cloud computing Industry by rearranging Input-Output table published by the Bank of Korea to use Input-Output Analysis. The Input-Output Analysis was devised in 1963 by Leontief and it is used in many fields of study until now. It produces various coefficients that are able to identify production-inducing effect, value-added effect, labor-inducing effect, front and rear chain effect. The analysis results show that production-inducing effect, front and rear chain effect of cloud computing industry is low compared to other industries. However, cloud computing Industry possesses relatively high value-added effect and labor-inducing effect. It is because industry magnitude of cloud computing is smaller than other industries such as manufacturing, chemical industries. The economic effects of the cloud computing industry are not remarkable, but this result is significant to emerging markets and industries and presents the fresh way of analyzing cloud computing research field.
