The purpose of this study is small scale coagulation module is developed and demonstrated through a lab-scale test. Recent as a sewage treatment rate increases, have heightened the interest in the necessity on the nonpoint source and developing a small processing unit has been increased. Coagulation sedimentation module in this study is additional growth of floc through swirling in the outside zone, reduction of microstructure floc number and the internal settling zone through vertical/level flow complex sedimentation method after the coagulation process precipitation method as an effective high separation efficiency can be divided was also assessed. Coagulation sedimentation module can increase the load factor was 4.4 times compared to conventional clarifier base on the same volume and surface area through vertical/level flow. In this study, this process was selected formation and maintenance of swirling and uniform flow distribution in the internal settling zone as an important design factor, to derive its FLUENT was used to characteristics of the flow model. Through the simulation of swirling, influent velocity, dimensions of external basin, hopper depth of bottom cone was determined and through analysis of velocity distribution, flow distribution detailed specifications are derived like as diameter and number of effluent hole. Lab-scale($120{\ell}/hr$) test results, influent of 300~800 NTU to less than 10 NTU without polymer feeding was able to operate in the 20minutes retention time(surface loading rate $37.3m^3/m^2$-day), and through analysis FLUENT the possibility of using design parameters were derived.
Abstract: A kinetic model was developed for the dehydration of ethanol to ethylene based on two parallel reaction pathways. Kinetic parameters were estimated by fitting experimental data of powder catalysts in a lab-scale test, and the effectiveness factor was determined using data from pellet-type catalysts in bench-scale experiments. The developed model was used to design a multitubular fixed-bed reactor (MTR) and an adiabatic reactor (AR) at a 10 ton per day scale. The two different reactor types resulted in different process configurations: the MTR consumed the ethanol completely and did not produce the reaction intermediate, diethyl ether (DEE), resulting in simple separation trains at the expense of high equipment cost for the reactor, whereas the AR required azeotropic distillation and cryogenic distillation to recycle the unreacted ethanol and to separate the undesired DEE, respectively. Quantitative analysis based on the equipment and annual energy costs showed that, despite high equipment cost of the reactor, the MTR process had the advantages of high productivity and simple separation trains, whereas the use of additional separation trains in the AR process increased both the total equipment cost and the annual energy cost per unit production rate.
In this paper, we introduce a newly developed photogrammetric software for automatic generation of high quality geo-products and its performance assessment carried out using various satellite images. Our newly developed software provides the latest techniques of an optimized sensor modelling, ortho-image generation and automated Digital Elevation Model (DEM) generation for diverse remote sensing images. In particular, images from dual- and multi-sensor images can be integrated for 3D mapping. This can be a novel innovation toward a wider applicability of remote sensing data, since 3D mapping has been limited within only single-sensor so far. We used Kompsat-2, Ikonos, QuickBird, Spot-5 high resolution satellite images to test an accuracy of 3D points and ortho-image generated by the software. Outputs were assessed by comparing reliable reference data. From various sensor combinations 3D mapping were implemented and their accuracy was evaluated using independent check points. Model accuracy of 1~2 pixels or better was achieved regardless of sensor combination type. The high resolution ortho-image results are consistent with the reference map on a scale of 1:5,000 after being rectified by the software and an accuracy of 1~2 pixels could be achieved through quantitative assessment. The developed software offers efficient critical geo-processing modules of various remote sensing images and it is expected that the software can be widely used to meet the demand on the high-quality geo products.
Accurately simulating the wind field of large-scale region, for instant urban areas, the locations of large span bridges, wind farms and so on, is very difficult, due to the complicated terrains or land surfaces. Currently, the regional wind field can be simulated through the combination of observation data and numerical model using observation-nudging in the Weather Research and Forecasting model (WRF). However, the main drawback of original observation-nudging method in WRF is the effects of observation on the surrounding field is fully mathematical express in terms of temporal and spatial, and it ignores the effects of terrain, wind direction and atmospheric circulation, while these are physically unreasonable for the turbulence. For these reasons, a spatial correlation-based observation-nudging method, which can take account the influence of complicated terrain, is proposed in the paper. The validation and comparation results show that proposed method can obtain more reasonable and accurate result than original observation-nudging method. Finally, the discussion of wind field along bridge span obtained from the simulation with spatial correlation-based observation-nudging method was carried out.
Removal of iron oxide scale from feed-water in thermal power plant can improve power generation efficiency. We have proposed a novel scale removal system utilizing High Gradient Magnetic Separation (HGMS). This system can be applied to high temperature and pressure area. We have conducted the lab-scale model experiments using ${\varphi}50mm$ filters and it demonstrated high removal efficiency in HGMS, but scale-up of the system is required toward practical use. In this study, we conducted a large scale mock-up HGMS experiment. We used the superconducting solenoidal magnet with ${\varphi}400mm$ bore and demonstrated that our HGMS system can achieve sufficient scale removal capacity that is required to introduce into both off-line and on-line system.

This paper presents a multi-phase model update approach for system identification of prestressed concrete (PSC) girders under various prestress forces. First, a multi-phase model update approach designed on the basis of eigenvalue sensitivity concept is newly proposed. Next, the proposed multi-phase approach is evaluated from controlled experiments on a lab-scale PSC girder for which forced vibration tests are performed for a series of prestress forces. On the PSC girder, a few natural frequencies and mode shapes are experimentally measured for the various prestress forces. The corresponding modal parameters are numerically calculated from a three-dimensional finite element (FE) model which is established for the target PSC girder. Eigenvalue sensitivities are analyzed for potential model-updating parameters of the FE model. Then, structural subsystems are identified phase-by-phase using the proposed model update procedure. Based on model update results, the relationship between prestress forces and model-updating parameters is analyzed to evaluate the influence of prestress forces on structural subsystems.
The purpose of this study is to develop a prediction model of hypertension in middle-aged adults using Statistical analysis. Statistical analysis and prediction models were developed using the National Health and Nutrition Survey (2013-2016).Binary logistic regression analysis showed statistically significant risk factors for hypertension, and a predictive model was developed using logistic regression and the Naive Bayes algorithm using Wrapper approach technique. In the statistical analysis, WHtR(p<0.0001, OR = 2.0242) in men and AGE (p<0.0001, OR = 3.9185) in women were the most related factors to hypertension. In the performance evaluation of the prediction model, the logistic regression model showed the best predictive power in men (AUC = 0.782) and women (AUC = 0.858). Our findings provide important information for developing large-scale screening tools for hypertension and can be used as the basis for hypertension research.

It is an urgent issue to manage and reduce non-point pollution sources for improving the water quality of stream and lakes in rural areas. In this study, in order to reduce non-point pollution sources in rural area, Gabion mattresses was proposed to provide protection of riverbanks with anaerobic and aerobic area. The utilization of this was assessed by lab scale model test and pilot plant test. After filling the inside of the gabion mattresses with aggregate, the filtration zone under anaerobic and aerobic conditions was formed to treat the contaminants. In addition, vegetation was deposited on the surfae of the gabion to prevent the inflow of soil and to promote purification by the plant. COD and nitrogen content (T-N, $NH_4{^+}$, -N, $NO_3{^-}N$) were monitored in model and field tests. The lab scale model test showed removal efficiency of 17% of TCOD, 35% of SCOD, 14% of TN, 62% of $NH_4{^+}$, -N, and 33% of $NO_3{^-}$ N. Also, pilot plant test showed removal efficiency of 24% of TCOD, 29% of SCOD, 47% of TN, 50% of $NH_4{^+}-N$, 33% of $NO_3{^-}$, N and 29% of TP.
The present study investigates gas residence time and mixing characteristics for various swirl numbers generated by injection of secondary air into a lab-scale cylindrical combustor. Fine dust particles and butane gas were injected into the test chamber to study the gas residence time and mixing characteristics, respectively. The mixing characteristics were evaluated by standard deviation value of trace gas concentration at different measurement points. The measurement points were located 25 mm above the secondary air injection position. The trace gas concentration was detected by a gas analyzer. The gas residence time was estimated by measuring the temporal pressure difference across a filter media where the particles were captured. The swirl number of 20 for secondary air injection angle of 5$^{\circ}$ gave the best condition: long gas residence time and good mixing performance. Numerical calculations were also carried out to study the physical meanings of the experimental results, which showed good agreement with numerical results.
This study investigated a lab-scale inducing method for efficient astaxanthin accumulation. As a model system. Haematococcus pluvialis was cultivated in 2 liter bubble-column photobioreactors. The astaxanthin - inducing results using high light irradiation were compared with that of the control experiment under standard irradiation (40 ${\mu}E/m^2/s$). After the late linear growth phase (> 20 days). high light energy (230 ${\mu}E/m^2/s$) was supplied to the culture broth for astaxanthin induction. As a result. the dr γ cell weight and the astaxanthin productivity were increased up to 68% and 215%, respectively. higher than those of the control experiment. This result indicates that bubble-column type photobioreactor is a good candidate for mass cultivation of H. pluvialis and high light irradiation is an efficient induction method for astaxanthin accumulation in lab-scale bubble-column photobioreactors.
