마황(麻黃)과 Silymarin의 병용이 TGF-β/Smad 경로 억제를 통한 간섬유화 억제효능 (Combination of EHE and Silymarin ameliorates liver fibrosis by inhibiting TGF-β/Smad pathway in LX-2 cells)

  • Objectives : Ephedrae Herba has been used in the East Asian traditional medicine, for treatment of asthma, cold and influenza. Silymarin is an effective antioxidant and its anti-fibrogenic, anti-inflammatory, and hepatoprotective properties have been reported. This study was performed to explore an anti-fibrogenic potential of Ephedrae Herba extract (EHE) + silymarin on immortalized human hepatic stellate cell line, LX-2 cells. Methods : We studied the anti-fibrogenic effects of EHE + silymarin on transforming growth factor β1 (TGF-β1) signaling pathway in LX-2 cells. Cell viability was measured using the MTT assay. mRNA levels were detected by real-time PCR. TGF-β1 signaling-related proteins expression were detected by Western blot. Results : Silymarin 30 ㎍/mL and EHE 100 ㎍/mL showed cytotoxicity on LX-2 cells. Therefore, the concentrations of silymarin and EHE were studied at 10 ㎍/mL, respectively. Silymarin significantly reduced PAI-1 protein expression, Smad binding element (SBE) luciferase activity, and mRNA (PAI-1, MMP2 and 9) expression compared to TGF-β1. EHE significantly reduced SBE luciferase activity and mRNA (PAI-1, MMP2 and 9) expression compared to TGF-β1. More importantly, EHE + silymarin significantly reduced all parameters compared to TGF-β1, and also significantly reduced compared to EHE alone and silymarin alone. Conclusion : The results indicate that EHE + silymarin has anti-fibrogenic effect in LX-2 cells induced by TGF-β1. Additionally, EHE + silymarin shows more effective anti-fibrogenic effect than EHE alone and silymarin alone.

  • LX Hausys, a leading manufacturer of building materials in South Korea is engaging in the interior business where it is critical to balance between the needs of end-users (B2C) and the needs of corporate consumers (B2B) in an effective manner. Therefore, it is utmost important for the company to ensure that customer communication takes place in two directions based on correct market segmentation strategies, which in turn require a deep understanding of current as well as potential consumers. To accomplish this, LX Hausys conducted both quantitative and qualitative studies to establish a market segmentation strategy which is genuinely different from "general" consumer goods market segmentation strategies. As a result, especially since 2018, its brand (LX Z:IN) began to move up to 1st or 2nd place in a variety of brand rankings. This paper aims to look closely into various characteristic aspects of LXH's market segmentation strategy, and also shows how it is implemented in the real world.

Enhancement of Scenedesmus sp. LX1 Biomass Production and Lipid Accumulation Using Iron in Artificial Wastewater and Domestic Secondary Effluent

  • While coupling wastewater treatment with microalgal bioenergy production is very promising, new approaches are needed to enhance microalgal growth and lipid accumulation in wastewater. Therefore, this study investigated the effect of iron on the growth, nutrient removal, and lipid accumulation of Scenedesmus sp. LX1 in both artificial wastewater and domestic secondary effluents. When increasing the iron concentration from 0 to 2 mg/l in the artificial wastewater, the biomass production of Scenedesmus sp. LX1 increased from 0.17 to 0.54 g/l; the nitrogen and phosphorus removal efficiency increased from 15.7% and 80.6% to 97.0% and 99.2%, respectively; and the lipid content was enhanced 84.2%. The relationship between the carrying capacity/maximal population growth rate of Scenedesmus sp. LX1 and the initial iron concentration were also in accordance with the Monod model. Furthermore, when increasing the iron concentration to 2 mg/l in four different domestic secondary effluent samples, the lipid content and lipid production of Scenedesmus sp. LX1 was improved by 17.4-33.7% and 21.5-41.8%, respectively.

The Effects of Illuminance and Correlated Color Temperature on Visual Comfort of Occupants' Behavior

  • The preferred illumination environment in accordance with the actions taken by the occupants of the rooms in residences differs significantly between different cultures and circumstances in and out of the country. In this regard, the purpose of this study is to evaluate the visual performance of various illumination environments in residential spaces by allowing the participants of the experiments to select the kind of illumination environment they prefer as the occupants of the room. For this purpose, we prepared a mock-up residential space of $6.2m{\times}4.5m{\times}2.5m$, where the experiments for this study were conducted. Then, three illuminance settings (30lx, 100lx, and 150lx) and three color temperature settings (2700k, 4000k, and 6500k) were selected as the properties of the physical environment where the tests were to be conducted. The survey was conducted with 30 study subjects, with whom the level of visual comfort and the lighting adjustment evaluation by different activities were carried out. The level of visual comfort in lighting in a residential context turned to be more influenced by the color temperature and illuminance compared to other factors. Except for the test item, 'comfort,' all test items showed positive reactions when the illuminance was 150lx, which was rather light. In 'comfort,' the test subjects appeared to prefer warm color temperature of 2700k. As we allowed the occupants to adjust the lighting environment in accordance with the conditions of the subjects and the activities they performed, the subjects regarded 150lx - 4000k setting as comfortable, while they preferred 150lx-5400k configuration for working. In case of resting, the subject answered that the configuration of 30lx -2700k setting to be visually comfortable.

광튜브와 디쉬형 집광기의 자연채광 성능 예측 및 비교 연구 (A Comparative Study on Daylighting Performance Prediction of Light Tube and Dish Concentrator)

  • 본 연구에서는 북측창을 가진 강의실 내의 불균형적인 실내 조도차이를 개선하기 위해 두 가지의 자연채광시스템을 적용하였을 경우에 대하여 Photopia를 이용한 성능 시뮬레이션을 수행하였다. 특히, 본 연구에서는 태양고도가 최고 $80^{\circ}$ 이르는 하지에 청천공 상태 하에서의 태양고도에 따른 각 시스템의 배광분포곡선을 구하고 이를 이용하여 실내 조도 등을 분석하였다. 작업면의 경우, 창측과 복도측의 평균 조도차가 1000lx를 초과하였는데 시스템 설치 후에는 그 차이가 상당히 줄어드는 것으로 나타났다. 광튜브 시스템 설치시 906lx에서 603lx로 감소하였으며, 디쉬형 시스템은 308lx까지 줄어들었다. 광튜브의 성능은 태양고도에 영향을 크게 받았으며 디쉬형 집광기는 지속적인 태양추적으로 인하여 태양고도에 관계없이 일정한 성능을 보여주었다.

  • 본 연구의 목적은 토지등록제도의 개념을 검토하고 영국, 호주, 미국, 네덜란드, 프랑스, 스웨덴 6개국의 토지등록제도를 비교·분석하여, 이들이 시사하는 바를 도출하고자 한다. 토지등록이란 토지권리의 보호 및 규제, 과세, 분쟁 해결 등을 위하여 토지와 관련된 물리적·권리적 정보를 토지공부에 등록하는 프로세스이다. 6개국 토지등록제도는 토지등록제도, 토지등록공부, 등록대상, 토지등록시스템 등에 주요 초점을 두고 분석하였으며, 이들이 시사하는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 토지등록 및 지적제도 발전을 위하여 중장기 기본계획의 수립이 중요하다. 둘째, 4차원 토지관리를 위하여 지적공부의 개선이 필요하다. 셋째, 지적재조사사업의 기간 단축 및 업무 효율성 향상 방안이 마련되어야 한다. 마지막, 최신공간정보 기술과 토지등록제도를 연계하여 대국민 서비스의 고도화 방안이 필요하다.

녹색광 밝기에 따른 심리·생리(심박변이) 반응 및 영향 분석 (Analysis of Psychological, Physiological(Heart Rate Variability) Response & Influence Consequent on Green Light Brightness)

  • This study compared the effect of green light consequent on maximum brightness 85 lx and intial brightness 15 lx, and its accompanying psychological, physiological response. 1) As a result of psychology(general stress evaluation, Symptom Checklist-90-Revision) evaluation, all stress evaluation items mostly showed a decrease, and they are comparatively positively evaluated in minimum brightness 15 lx comparing to maximum brightness 85 lx. 2) Physiological (Heart Rate Variability) evaluation result was included in stable range in all cardiovascular system variables after light stimulus in time of comparison with the standard range; in addition, the Heart Rate Variability evaluation result was found to be stable in all cardiovascular system variables except Low Frequency in minimum brightness 15 lx comparing to maximum brightness 85 lx. 3) Green light was found not to appear as a stimulating factor in the human body in time of space projection, being found to be effective in stability of mind and body, and reduction in stress. Thus, it was found that green light functioned as an emotional, relaxing tranquilizer by working on the sympathetic nervous system.

야간조명이 참깨와 들깨의 생육 및 수량에 미치는 영향 (Effect of Night Illumination on Growth and Yield of Sesame and Perilla)

  • 야간조명 광도의 변화가 참깨와 들깨이 생육 및 수량에 미치는 영향을 검토하고자 참깨는 안산깨와 서둔깨, 들깨는 종실용인 옥동들깨와 엽실겸용인 아름들깨를 사용하여 1.0~10.0Lx(5~28 ㎽ m$^{-2}$ , 0.01~0.14 $\mu$㏖ s$^{-1}$ m$^{-2}$ )의 광도로 전 생육기간 동안 밤새조명을 하여 시험을 수행한 결과는 다음과 같다. 1 참깨 생육은 야간조명 광도가 높을수록 경장과 초삭고는 증가되었으며, 분지수는 감소되었고, 개화 및 성숙기가 지연되었다. 2. 참깨 수량은 야간조명 광도가 높을수록 주당삭수와 등숙율이 감소되어 수량이 감소되었으며, 서둔깨보다 안산개의 감소정도가 컸다. 3. 들깨의 생육은 야간조명시 절수가 증가되었으며, 분지수는 감소하였다. 4. 들깨의 개화와 성숙기는 야간조명 광도가 높을수록 현저하게 지연되었으며, 야간조명 광도 2Lx 이하에 비하여 6~10Lx에서는 개화가 21~28일이 지연되었다. 5. 들깨의 수량은 야간광도가 높을수록 화방군수와 화방당 삭수 및 천립중이 감소되어 야간조명 광도 2Lx이하에 비하여 6~10Lx에서는 89~98%가 감소되어 수량을 기대할 수 없었다. 6. 수량과 생육특성과의 상호관계는 참깨와 들깨에서 모두 개화까지의 소요일수와는 고도의 부의 상관을 나타내었으며, 참깨의 주당삭수, 등숙율과 들깨의 화방군수, 화방당 립수와는 정의 상관을 나타내었다.

OC Sensor PLEDIA를 이용한 LX Detergent Cleaning Solution과 OC Detergent Cleaning Solution의 동등성 평가 (Analysis of a Comparability Test between LX Detergent Cleaning Solution and OC Detergent Cleaning Solution Using OC Sensor PLEDIA)

  • 이 연구의 목적은 기능적, 정량적 분석을 바탕으로 수입 LX 세정액(LX-CS)과 자가제조 OC 세정액(OC-CS)의 성능을 비교하였다. 기능적 분석은 ADC값을 사용하여 평가하였다. 정량적 분석을 위해 CLSI 지침에 따라 정도 관리 물질을 이용하여 정밀도, 직선성 및 오염률을 평가하였다. OC-Sensor PLEDIA(Eiken Chemical, Japan)를 이용한 모든 cuvette의 ADC값은 허용기준을 만족하였다. 정량적 분석의 경우 두 제품의 정밀도는 5.0% 미만이었고, 오염율은 ±1.00% 이하였다. 직선성 기울기와 r2 값은 LX-CS에서 각각 1.0017와 0.9982였으며, OC-CS에서 0.9924와 0.9996이였다. 상관계수(r)는 0.9997이였다. 또한 40개의 가변을 이용한 % difference는 10% 미만, P값은 0.1 미만이였다. 각 각 차이: 표준 편차 비(D: ±1 SD 비)에 기초한 두 제품 모두 유사한 결과를 보였다. 결론적으로 두 제품의 기능적, 정량적 분석을 비교한 결과 유사하였다. 향후 자가제조한 OC세정액은 수입 LX세정액보다 훨씬 더 안정적이고 빠른 공급을 제공할 수 있을 것이라 기대된다.

Inhibition of IgM Secretion in Murine B Cell Lymphoma by Hydrogen Peroxide

  • Reactive of gen species (ROS) contribute to several cellular function and are involved in the regulation of signal transduction, gene expression, and proliferation. In the present study, we investigated the effect of $H_2O_2$ treatment on IgM secretion in LPS-stimulated murine B Iymphoma, CH12.LX. Cells were treated directly With $H_2O_2$ and stimulated with LPS. $H_2O_2$ treatment during 72 h time period inhibited IgM secretion in LPS-stimulated CH12.LX cells in a dose- and time-dependent manners. After treatment with 50 $\mu\textrm{M}$ $H_2O_2$ during 72 h time period, the level of IgM in LPS-stimulated CH12.LX cells was markedly decreased, whereas cell viability was not significantly changed. Addition of $H_2O_2$ concomitantly with LPS, or 12 h post-LPS stimulation, produced a significant inhibition of IgM secretion, Whereas inhibitory effect of $H_2O_2$ on IgM secretion was not observed when added 24 h after LPS stimulation. These findings suggest that $H_2O_2$ can inhibit the secretion of IgM in LPS-stimulated CH15.LX cells, and may alter the events necessary for terminal B cell differentiation.
