This thesis proposes a power saving MAC protocol for LTE base station which utilizes different graded DRX/DTX(Discontinuous. Reception/Transmission) that specified by 3GPP(Third Generation Partnership Project). Considering QoS in UE, proposed MAC protocol controls adaptive DRX/DTX cycle. When Packet delay of UE is less than normal time, LTE base station economize power by increasing DRX/DTX. When Packet delay of UE is more than normal time, delay of UE is decreased by guaranteed QoS. It depends on the traffic which is sent by UE. The proposed method is more improve power saving performance than another method which is unchanged DRX/DTX by conditions. Especially when set DRX/DTX up in conditions, it will meet the requirements of UE. In this thesis, I propose an power saving MAC protocol in an environment where LTE base station are communicated with UE and prove improvement in performance through simulations.

This paper deals with the interfering audio noise caused by LTE(Long Term Evolution) UE(User Equipment) which is 4th generation mobile communications on audio devices. At first, we realized that the interfering signal of the LTE UE is determined by the transmit power of the LTE UE through analysis and measurement. Then, we performed to measure audio noise level according to the variation of transmitting power level and separation distance between the LTE UE and an audio device. As a result, it is required that minimum separation distance should be 25 cm and above in order to protect audio device from the interference noise of the LTE UE with the maximum transmit power level of 22 dBm.
In this letter, the acoustic noise due to long term evolution (LTE) user equipment (UE) is investigated with various transmitting powers of the LTE UE by using the Monte Carlo method in a practical acoustic noise experiment.

3GPP(Third Generation Partnership Project) LTE system that is the next step forward in cellular 3G services address the issues related to power saving at LTE base station. This is because that most of the energy in a typical telecommunication network is consumed by the wireless network's base station site. Power saving at LTE base station fall in with low-carbon green technology. This thesis proposes a power saving MAC protocol for LTE base station which utilizes different graded DRX/DTX(Discontinuous. Reception/Transmission). Considering traffic type in UE, proposed MAC protocol controls adaptive DRX/DTX cycle. The proposed method is more improve power saving performance than another method which is unchanged DRX/DTX by conditions. In this thesis, I propose an power saving MAC protocol in an environment where LTE base station are communicated with UE and prove improvement in performance through simulations.
NB-IoT and LTE Cat.M1 based on LPWA(Low Power Wide Area) are commercialized and serviced by mobile carriers. As the demand for IoT devices is increased, the number of subscribers to these services is also increasing. In the beginning of service, there was no issue that eNB capacity for NB-IoT and LTE Cat.M1. However, as the number of subscribers increases, there is an issue that the eNB capacity for these service is insufficient. Active UE capacity issue may cause overload by continuous increase and temporary increase. In this paper, we propose a solution to solve the problem of LTE RRC(Radio Resource Control) Active UE capacity shortage and base station overload caused by the increase of NB-IoT and LTE Cat.M1 UE in same eNB. The proposed solution can increase a cell capacity without cell division and additional eNB, and can also improve the service quality of these UEs.

The low-power, low-cost femtocell network has been proposed not only to alleviate traffic load to the macro base station (eNB) but also to cover the indoor coverage hole problem. However, in the dense femtocell environment where many femtocells are deployed to cover the whole large office building, performance of such femtocell environment can be deteriorated due to severe co-channel interference problem between the eNB and femtocells and among neighboring femtocells. In particular, a macro UE(mUE) located within femtocell coverage may experience severe co-channel interference from surrounding femtocells. Therefore, In this paper, we propose a novel power control schemes to mitigate interference to a mUE under such dense LTE femtocell environment. With proposed femtocell power control schemes, performance of the mUE can be greatly improved in terms of the outage probability and the SINR while maintaining satisfying femtocell performance. Simulation based performance study shows that the proposed power control scheme is able to enhance mUE performance more than 30% than the conventional dense femtocell in terms of the two performance metrics.

Recently, the use of mobile devices has increased, and mobile traffic is growing rapidly. In order to deal with such massive traffic, cognitive radio (CR) is applied to efficiently use limited-spectrum resources. However, there can be multiple communication systems trying to access the white space (unused spectrum), and inevitable interference may occur to cause mutual performance degradation. Therefore, understanding the effects of interference in CR-based systems is crucial to meaningful operations of these systems. In this paper, we consider a long-term evolution (LTE) system using additional spectra by accessing the TV white space, where low-power devices (LPDs) are licensed primary users, in addition to TV broadcasting service providers. We model such a heterogeneous system to analyze the co-existence problem and evaluate the interference effects of LPDs on LTE user equipment (UE) throughput. We then present methods to mitigate the interference effects of LPDs by 'de-selecting' some of the UEs to effectively increase the overall sector throughput of the CR-based LTE system.

In this paper, we propose a power control scheme for effective serving cell selection in Relay environment of 3GPP (3rd Generation Partnership Project) LTE (Long Tenn Evolution)-Advanced system. A conventional serving cell selection scheme which does not use channel states of backhaul link has a problem that this scheme does not select serving cell supporting maximum throughput. Also, conventional proposed serving cell selection schemes that eNB or RN transmits channel states of backhaul link have problems that conventional schemes need to additional data transmission, serving cell selection process complexity is increased because UE considers channel states of backhaul link, and received signal is degraded because strong interference which is transmission signal from RN. Therefore, for solve these problems, we propose power control scheme that RN control transmission power according to received SINR (Signal to Interference plus Noise Ratio) of backhaul link. By extensive computer simulation, we verify that the power control Relay scheme is attractive and suitable for the Relay environment.

In this paper, we propose a new power-saving mechanism (PSM) for Long-Term Evolution (LTE) systems by considering a round-trip delay between a user equipment (UE) and its correspondence node. The proposed PSM changes the order of the operational procedures of the legacy LTE PSM by taking the traffic arrival pattern suffering the round-trip delay into account. After modeling the round-trip delay, we numerically analyze the proposed PSM with respect to energy consumption and buffering delay. Then, we characterize these performances by employing a simple energy-delay tradeoff (EDT) curve according to the operational parameters. The resulting EDT curve clearly shows that the proposed PSM outperforms the legacy LTE PSM in terms of both the energy consumption and buffering delay.

In this paper, we considered the scenario that one cellular link and muti-D2D links share the same frequency resource which can improve the spectrum efficiency during uplink communication in LTE (Long Term Evolution)-Advanced network. In order to reduce the interference caused to the D2D users, we set DME (Discovery and Management Entity) which can send the area information to eNB(evolved Node B). We proposed a resource allocation scheme by using these assistant devices to reduce the interference that CUE (Cellular User Equipment) causes to DUE Rx (D2D UE Receiver). Basing on the area information, in order to mitigate the interference among the D2D pairs which share the same frequency resource, a power control scheme has been proposed. The simulation results prove that by using the DMEs, the proposed schemes improve the stability of D2D communication and bring the highest performance of the communication system when comparing to the other different schemes.
