중형 LPG/암모니아 운반선의 CARGO TANK 구역에 대한 IGC 손상복원성 검토

  • 일반적으로 액화암모니아, LPG, 메탄, 부탄 등을 운송하는 가스운반선은 가스를 비등점 이하의 온도로 낮춰서 액화하여 운송하는 선박으로, 가스의 비등점이 -3$0^{\circ}C$에서 -4$0^{\circ}C$ 내외의 저온이므로 대기압 상태에서는 냉각되어 액화상태 약 -48$^{\circ}C$ 유지로 화물탱크에 저장 운반되어야 하는 여러 가지 제약조건이 따른다. 이러한 가스를 보관하는 탱크는 주로 저온에 강한 니켈강을 쓰게 되며 완벽한 고도의 용접기술을 필요로 하고, 저온상태의 화물 저장 운송을 위해서는 대형 냉동기와 보온설비도 필요하다.   • Generally in order to reduce the steel weight of stiffened plate, stiffener spaces tend to be narrow and the plate gets thin. However, it will involve more fabrication cost because it can lead to the increase of welding length and the number of structural members. In the yard, the design which is able to reduce the total fabrication cost is needed, although it requires more steel weight. The purpose of this study is to find optimum stiffener spaces to minimize the fabrication cost for the cargo tank of LPG Carriers. Global optimization methods such as ES(Evolution Strategy) and GA(Genetic Algorithm) are introduced to find a global optimum solution and the sum of steel material cost and labor cost is selected as main objective function. Convergence degree of both methods in according to the size of searching population is examined and an efficient size is investigated. In order to verify the necessity of the optimum design based on the cost, minimum weight design and minimum cost design are carried out.

  • Generally, the cargo tank of LPG carriers corresponds to an independent tank Type A defined by the International Maritime Organization (IMO). The outside of the tank is insulated by polyurethane foam, and the tank is made of expensive low temperature steel that can withstand temperatures as low as -50℃. The cargo tank is composed of outer shell plates, bulkheads, stiffeners, web frames, and stringers. Among them, the outer shell plates, bulkheads, and stiffeners can be designed without structural analysis by the Classification Rules and are constructed easily through optimal design. On the other hand, optimal design, including numerous structural analysis, is not performed because web frames and stringers should be designed and approved through structural analysis. Only adequate design, which determines the design dimensions through several dozen structural analysis, is performed. In this study, for finite element analysis, eight loading conditions were applied, and the deformation of the entire ship for each loading condition was considered. The minimum weight design was performed for the web frames of cargo tanks in the 82,000 ㎥ LNG carrier through the gradient-based optimization technique, and the weight was reduced by approximately 108 tons per ship.

  • This paper describes a system for LNG carrier's loading and discharging work education This system consists of three modules(cargo work simulation, ballast work simulation and loading calculation module), and could be a useful to train mariners boarding on LNG carrier so as to take a suitable action while their ship maneuvering and cargo handling.

  • Daesan Harbor is developing under the Industrial Complex or Petrochemistry Development Plan making the port the main hub-port in the West coast. Because of this development. the traffic volume is expected to increase to 9,1.95 incoming vessels by 2020, an increase of 167% compared to 2008 figure. This study thoroughly analyzes and evaluates a systematic and comprehensive use of the fairway in the Daesan Harbor. It establishes a future oriented and safe marine transportation environment upon appropriate examination of the total fairways and sailing assistance facilities.

Financial Analysis and Effects on Performance of Offshore Freight Shipping Companies (외항 화물운송업의 재무분석 및 성과에 미치는 요인 연구)

  • Using data from 2008 to 2017, this study analyzed the financial characteristics of offshore freight shipping companies in Korea, categorized by vessel type, and their impact on business performance. The analysis showed an upward trend in the overall debt ratio of offshore freight transport companies and differences in the financial characteristics of each vessel type as well as the major factors affecting business performance. In particular, the significant factors affecting the ROA performance of the business are the size of business and debt ratio in the LPG line; the growth rate in the bulk line; the size of business, debt ratio, and year in the general freight line; and the size of business, growth rate, entertainment expense rate, debt ratio, and year in the full container line. Therefore, each shipping company needs to recognize differences in key financial factors affecting its performance based on vessel type, implement proactive measures, and diversify its vessel portfolio.

  • IMO type C independent tank is one of the cargo containment system specified on IGC code. It is normally adopted for small and medium size liquefied gas carrier's cargo containment system and it can be applied to fuel tank of LNG fueled vessel. This study focuses on rule scantling process and evaluation methods in early design stage of type C independent tank. Actual design results of 22K LPG/Ammonia/VCM carrier's No.2 cargo tank are demonstrated. This paper presents the calculation methods of design acceleration and liquid height for internal design pressure as defined on IGC code. And this paper shows the applied results of classification rules about shell thickness requirement and buckling strength. Additionally this paper deals with evaluation methods of structural strength and cumulative fatigue damage using FE analysis.
