  • The furniture of the Joseon era, life sense of human forms a culture has appeared well. Feeling of life refers to the sense of feel natural to the history and traditional culture of the area and their own customs. Further, it is possible to be a sense that reflects the mental contents ego, ethical and religious. Furniture traditional and sophisticated sense like this is to take care of the sophistication that comes out from the inside than the beauty artificial as a function of the sense and user preferences. This is a feeling of unique Korean. Due to changes in the housing, the beauty of these illustrates the altered form mechanically a uniform in modern times. Have that desired to be manufactured furniture by applying the neck Korean furniture of our living environment that will change in Western Europe of today, with the tradition of the modern lifestyle.

  • Post-translational modifiers can alter the function of proteins in many different ways. The conjugation of ubiquitin (Ub) and ubiqutin-like modifiers (Ubls) to proteins has been shown to be especially crucial in regulating a variety of cellular processes including the cell cycle, growth control, quality control, localization and many more. It is a highly dynamic process and involves a number of enzymes called E1, E2 and E3. Ub and Ubls are removed from the target proteins by deubiquitinating enzymes (DUBs) or Ubl-specific proteases (ULPs), thereby deconjugation can act as an additional level of control over the ubiquitin-conjugation system. In addition, DUBs and ULPs are responsible for activating Ub and Ubls from their inactive corresponding precursor forms. Here we review recent progress in molecular details of these deconjugating enzymes of Ubls.

  • A new marine sponge in the family Ancorinidae, Penares hongdoensis n. sp. was collected from Hongdo Island, Korea by SCUBA diving in 2004. P. hongdoensis n. sp. is closely related to P. cortius de Laubenfels, 1930 in their spicules. However, they differ in kind and size of spicules and growth form. The dichotriaene rhabds of new species are larger than that of P. cortius. And the new species has oxyaster, but P. cortius has oxyspheraster. Although the growth forms of both species are irregular massive, this new species shows conspicuous long projection toward upper part.

  • The occurrence of thioredoxin reductase (NAD(P)H: oxidized-thioredoxin reductase, EC 1.6.4.5, TrxR) in five mesophilic species of Deinococcus was investigated by PAGE. Each species possessed a unique TrxR pattern, for example, a single TrxR characterized D. radiopugnans while multiple forms of TrxR occurred in other Deinococcal spp. Most of TrxRs occurring in Deinococcus showed dual cofactor specificity, active with either NADH or NADPH, although the NADPH specific-TrxR was observed in D. radiophilus and D. proteolytic us.

  • It is well known that pipelines have the highest capacity and are the safest and least environmentally disruptive form of transporting oil and gas. However, pipeline damage caused by both internal and external corrosion is a major concern threatening the reliability of oil and gas transportation and the soundness of the pipeline structure. In this study, we estimate the allowable damage by comparing the ASTM B31G code to a modified theory considering diverse detailed corrosive forms. The ASTM B31 G code has been developed as the evaluation method for reliability and incident prevention of damaged pipelines based on the amount of loss due to corrosion and the yield strength of materials. Furthermore, we suggest a method for estimating the expected life span of used pipelines by utilizing the reliability method based on major variables such as the depth and length of damage and the corrosion rate affecting the life expectancy of the pipelines.

  • According to the historical documents and paintings in many civilizations, rocks that fell from the sky fascinated humans as the message from the God or supernaturals. Scientific progress allows humans to recognize these exciting extraterrestrial objects as meteorites. Meteorites contain a wealth of pivotal information regarding formation of the early Solar System. Meteorites also provide broader scientific insights on, for example, the origin of life, interplanetary transfer of life forms, massive depletion of biosphere on Earth, and evolution of lithosphere on Earth-like planetary bodies.

  • The envelope glycoprotein of HIV, gp41, mediates the membrane fusion with human cells. The extracellular domain of gp41 has two helical regions. The N-terminus helical region (N-helix) forms trimeric coiled coil, interacts with the C-terminus helical region (C-helix) of gp41 to form a stable helical bundle structure. In this study, we have shown that the N-helix of gp41 has membrane interacting and disrupting abilities. It was localized into the interface of the lipidic phase and head group of the membrane. In contrast, the N-helix region with membrane fusion defective mutations could not bind to membrane. In addition, the N-helix bound on the membrane was released from the membrane by the C-helix, and the complex of the N- and C-helix did not interact with membrane. These results suggested that the membrane binding ability of the N-helix is necessary for the fusion activity of gp41, and such property is possibly controlled by the C-helm.

  • The chemosenssor that consists of [$Zn_2$(1,3-bis[bis(2-pyridylmethyl)aminomethyl]benzene)]$^{4+}$ (receptor) and pyrecatechol violet (signaling unit) detects with naked eyes di- and tri-phosphates conjugated to nucleosides or in free forms. The blue color of the aqueous solution (pH 7.0) of the sensor turns to yellow upon exposing to the analytes.

  • The purpose of this study is the investigation of the physically handicapped childrens' residentical life, using furniture and opinion of auxiliary furniture ot find out alternative forms of desirable furniture. This study consists of two parts: a survey of residential life and furniture usage and a new chair design based on the survey. Documentary research, observational investigation and questionaire survey methods were used. According to the survey, a chair was chosen as the most needed piece of furniture. The alternative chair was designed to accomodate to the individual physical needs of each child. The structural charasteristics of the chair form consist of four parts: 1) basic seat 2) supporting metal frame 3) detachable chair legs 4) detachable table top. Auxilliary options include adjustable parts such as a head rest, seat belt, arm rest and pedestal.
