Comparative Analysis of Requirements for Information Presentation on In-vehicle Display Systems by Driving Career (운전 경력에 따른 차량 내 디스플레이 정보표시 요구사항 비교)

  • The accelerated convergence of automobiles and ICT has led to an increase in in-vehicle electronic devices designed to enhance the safety and convenience of drivers. Consequently, the information presentation on in-vehicle display systems for drivers and passengers need to be taken into account in order to guarantee driving stability while satisfying the needs of UX-based design users. This study compared and evaluated requirements for information items shown on in-vehicle displays regarding driving safety and convenience by groups according to driving career. A total of 38 information items related to safety and convenience that can be displayed while driving and pulling over were collected. Their level of necessity was tested and evaluated by 234 drivers. Using the results, we conducted a comparative analysis on the requirements for information presentation on in-vehicle display systems by groups according to driving career.

  • Local dimming driving has advantages in reducing power consumption and improving contrast ratio(CR). In an LED backlight unit(BLU), many small LED blocks are implemented in 2-dimmensional space, and luminance of the blocks is controlled by a local dimming algorithm. However, such a BLU can induce various recognizable artifacts. A new novel algorithm is proposed for exact block luminance calculation to correct local dimming artifacts. Also we discuss modified low-gray-level dimming to achieve much aggressive power saving in a local dimming BLU system.

  • In this study, SMPS to drive LED traffic signal light for the railroad and airport was designed and its electrical characteristics was measured. The output voltage, output current and its power efficiencies to the input voltage 8~12VAC and 8~16VDC were 6VDC, 1.85ADC and >70%, respectively. Also the power factors of the SMPS were above 0.75 in the AC input voltage range.

  • 이동통신단말기 등의 표시소자로 사용되는 LCD(Liquid Crystal Diode)나 LED(Light Emitting Diode)의 표현의 한계를 극복하고 보다 많은 정보를 표시할 수 있는 가상의 화면을 구성하기 위한 400dpi급 LED array 칩과 이를 구동하기 위한 driver 칩을 패키징하는 방법에 대하여 연구하였다. 연성 인쇄회로기판(flexible Printed Circuit) 기판 위에 칩을 실장하여 제품의 소형화와 경량화 그리고 전선을 대체하여 신뢰성을 높일 수 있도록 설계하였고 알루미늄 wire bonding법으로 각각의 칩을 연결하는데 있어 고려해야할 패키지의 조건에 대하여 연구하였다. 본 연구의 목적은 휴대용 이동통신단말기의 경박단 소화를 위한 패키징 기술을 확보하는데 있다.

Analysis of Disinfection Performance of UV LEDs for a Phytoplankton (식물성 플랑크톤에 대한 UV LED의 살균성능 분석)

  • This paper dealt with the disinfection performance by Ultra-Violet Light Emitting Diode (UV LED) for a phytoplankton as a basic study for the development of a low-energy consumption ballast water treatment system. UV LEDs having peak wavelength of 255nm, 265nm and 280nm were used in the experiment. UV LED modules with driving circuit were fabricated, and optical and electrical characteristics of them were analyzed. The disinfection performance for phytoplankton depending on the UV wavelength was evaluated by comparing the number of phytoplankton before and after the UV treatments. The experimental result showed that the highest disinfection wavelength for the phytoplankton was 265nm.

  • This paper studies the lighting pattern control of a high-brightness LED warning light. The driving circuit for the warning light is composed of a full-wave rectified circuit and of a control circuit using a micro-controller (AT89c2051). The micro-controller is programmed in a suitable manner to accomodate a number of variable lighting patterns and to adjust the blinking speed. To reduce the total number of LEDs installed a special consideration is made to the bundled pattern in a lamp module which is lit simultaneously. The resultant LED warning light has merits not only over the conventional incandescent warning light on the energy saving aspect but also over some other LED-type ones in the market.

  • 본 논문은 LED 조명용 구동회로에 적합한 새로운 단일전력단 역률개선 Forward-Flyback 컨버터를 제안한다. 제안된 컨버터는 기본적으로 Forward 컨버터로서 동작하므로 트랜스포머 자화인덕터 전류의 오프셋을 최소화 할 수 있으며 스위치 오프 시 트랜스포머 자화 인덕터 전류를 Flyback 동작에 의해 출력 측으로 회생시킴으로서 순환전류를 최소화 할 수 있다. 뿐만 아니라 기존 Forward 컨버터의 경우 입력전압이 낮은 영역에서 큰 Dead zone이 존재하므로 고역률의 획득이 어려우나 제안된 회로의 경우 매 스위칭 시 Flyback컨버터 동작을 동시에 수행하므로 높은 역률을 획득할 수 있다. 최종적으로 제안된 회로의 우수성 검증을 위해 24W급 조명용 LED 구동회로의 시작품을 제작을 통한 실험 결과를 제시한다.

  • The purpose of this study is to develope a current variation control system appropriate to the various LED(Light Emitting Diode) lamps using current control system equipped with microcontroller based voltage regulator of power driving circuit. For this, we will suggest a stable control system of current variation to enable a stable power-supply and current-control, consisting of circuit to minimize the affects on the LED forward voltage using variable resistance and compensating resistance. The method of constant current circuit and energy savings using microcontroller based voltage regulator suggested in this study can be applied to various a big capacity LED lamp to minimize the unnecessay heat generation and to control resistace delicately. Ultimately, we expect the results of this study will upgrade the reliability of LED lamp by supplying the current stably.

  • LED light sources have been known to have a long life and good energy efficiency compared to traditional light sources. Recently, headlamps using LED light sources have ensured the forward visibility and safe operation of high-speed rolling stock. However, assessing the lifespan of LED headlamps based on real test data is not easy because it depends on the multiple stress factors such as a fixed driving current, junction temperature, vibration and so on. Generally, LED headlamps have failed before their advertised life span mainly due to temperature. Thus, the performance assessment of a temperature control unit should be done before a life cycle test of LED headlamps. This study attempted to develop a prototype temperature control module for a lifecycle test system using a commercial LED headlight and verified the system through experiments.

  • A drive system is necessary to operate LED by an LED illumination system. Because Switched Mode Power Supply (SMPS) is higher in efficiency in the large capacity than Linear Regulator, it is used mainly and controls this in an analog form or digital method. A MCU and a DSP of the digital control central processing unit were higher in a unit price than existing analog control chip, so that an approach was not easy for application of SMPS. But it can take the earnings by it lets you integrate various digital control features like an LED illumination system in one MCU, and realizing a whole system. In this paper, we suggest the algorithm that can improve LED driving current in applying such a digital control method using low-priced type MCU.
