Analysis of Characteristics of White LED Light Source for TV Lighting (TV 조명용 백색 LED의 광원 특성 분석)

  • Since eco friendly and power saving products recently got into the limelight for the protection of environment, LED light technology has caught much of attention as the next generation broadcasting lighting. The newly introduced light source has such advantages as higher efficiency, longer life and its slim and compact forms leading to conveniency in installations. When combined with digital light control it gives more dynamic and various features to lighting. In this paper, used CIE standard for measuring light sources by their purposes and forms to make a comparative analysis of spectral distribution and color rendition of LED light source to those of existing lighting systems. By means of the cast shadowing and color reproduction tests I also tried to figure out the effects of LED lighting design on TV visuals where higher quality is crucial with the audience's increasing demands for quality image.

Growth Characteristics of Microalgae Scenedesmus obliquus by LED Light Source (LED 광원에 따른 미세조류 Scenedesmus obliquus의 성장 특성)

  • Microalgae are independent organisms that perform photosynthesis and can alter the culture environment to increase accumulation of useful substances derived from microalgae. In this study, cell growth was measured by incubation for 39 days using MBBM, Neo medium, and seven light sources, which is the main factor affecting cell growth of microalgae S. obliquus. In the case of S. oliquus, which grew in MBBM and Neo medium, cell growth was highest under fluorescent light sources and Red2 LED (R660) light sources, and cell growth was lowest under Infra Red LED (R741) light sources. The average cell growth rate was 17.7% for MBBM and 15.4% for Neo. Comparing the effects of dry cell weight of Neo medium containing nutrients on the production of aquatic plants, MBBM and dry cell weight of Neo resulted in higher cell growth than Neo medium under all LED light sources except for Blue LED (B450). This proves that MBBM is more suitable for increasing the cell growth of microalgae than Neo medium and confirms that light source selection is important in the production of useful materials through mass cultivation of microalgae in the future.

  • The usability of marine lantern has been improved significantly by using the LED bulb and applying IT technology, However it is hard to fix immediately when the failure occurs, and there would be some additional costs in maintenance. Therefore, alternatives for those problems are required. In this regard, in this paper, we proposed the integrated duel-function LED marine lantern that has main and auxiliary light source at the same time so that it can operate auxiliary light source when the main light source has breakdowns or malfunctions.

  • LED light sources have been known to have a long life and good energy efficiency compared to traditional light sources. Recently, headlamps using LED light sources have ensured the forward visibility and safe operation of high-speed rolling stock. However, assessing the lifespan of LED headlamps based on real test data is not easy because it depends on the multiple stress factors such as a fixed driving current, junction temperature, vibration and so on. Generally, LED headlamps have failed before their advertised life span mainly due to temperature. Thus, the performance assessment of a temperature control unit should be done before a life cycle test of LED headlamps. This study attempted to develop a prototype temperature control module for a lifecycle test system using a commercial LED headlight and verified the system through experiments.

  • 최근 에너지 절감과 친환경 정책에 따라 LED조명에 대한 관심이 높아지면서 방송제작 현장에서도 LED조명의 활용이 많아지고 있다. 방송조명은 출연자의 인물을 사실적으로 재현하고, 영상의 전체적인 분위기와 느낌을 자연스럽고 감성적으로 표현하는 것이 중요하다. 특히 TV 스튜디오에서 요구되는 LED조명의 중요한 광원 특성은 연색성, 색온도, 조도의 평탄도, 색공간 균일성 등이다. 이에 본 논문은 방송현장에서 요구하는 광원특성을 기초로 제정된 TTA(한국정보통신기술협회)의 "방송용 LED조명 인증기준"에 따라서 기존의 할로겐 조명 및 국내 외 제조사별 LED조명 기구의 특성을 측정하여 비교분석 하였다.

  • 점광원 가정법은 광학계의 초점거리를 LED die 표면의 중심점으로 설정하고 LED 패키지의 발산형태는 이상적인 점광원으로 가정하여 설계하는 방법이며, 가초점 설계법은 focal smear라고 불리우는 초점영역의 가초점을 기준점으로 잡아 설계를 시행하는 방법이다. 실제 LED에서 빛이 발산하는 부분은 점광원이 아닌 부피를 가지고 있는 형태이기 때문에 점이외의 면에서 발생하는 오차와 가초점 영역 설정을 통한 설계는 결과에 오차를 발생시키게 된다. 따라서 구조 분석 실험 장비를 이용한 LED내부 구조를 분석한 후 이를 시뮬레이션 설계에 적용한 결과 기존 설계법에 비해 약 5%의 오차범위를 줄일 수 있었다.

  • 수은이 함유된 방전등과 같은 조명기구의 사용이 제한되는 특수구역의 산업용 조명설비로 200 W 이상의 높은 소비전력의 백열등기구들이 사용되고 있다. 인공광원으로 백열전구는 매우 낮은 발광효율로 전력소모가 많고, 높은 방사열로 인해 화재의 염려가 있어 램프보호유리구를 장착하므로 낮은 조명률로 광 손실이 높게 발생한다. 또한 산업지역 내에서는 일반적으로 각종 전동기 및 공기조화 설비의 가동으로 진동이 심하며 여기에 백열전구 사용 시 당초 예상되는 수명보다 더욱 단축되고 있다. 이러한 지역에 설치된 백열등을 조명등기구 효율(Luminaire Efficacy)이 높은 친환경 에너지 절감형 차세대 광원인 LED조명등으로 대체하여 산업설비 지역 내 공급되는 조명용 소비전력을 크게 줄여 에너지 절약효과를 높임과 동시에 양호한 조명율의 LED광원을 사용함으로써 조명환경 개선에 따른 작업능률을 높이기 위해 특수지역의 산업용 LED조명등을 개발하였다.

An Analysis of Domestic Research Trends on Museum Lighting (박물관 조명에 관한 국내 연구 동향 분석)

  • In this study, research trends were investigated by examining important academic research on museum lighting that has been carried out in Korea over the past 30 years. The aim was to highlight important studies conducted in Korea on material deterioration caused by museum lighting and to examine the current status of research on LED light sources to provide direction for future research. The ultimate goal of studies on museum lighting is to improve the long-term conservation effects, and this study examined the latest light sources of each era. Prior to the 1990s, the effects of light sources on relics were assessed by investigating incandescent light bulbs and fluorescent lamps, the first museum exhibition lighting. Then in the 1990s, the introduction of halogen lamps and HID lamps led to the analysis of the characteristics of a light source itself and the introduction of illumination standards. In the 2000s, the lighting environment of museums was investigated based on the characteristics of the light sources that had been studied, and in terms of preservation, research was conducted not only to improve the conservation of relics but also to improve the sentiments of visitors. After 2010, LED lamps were introduced; therefore, material deterioration studies on LED lamps were expanded. During this period, enhancements to LED light sources were made, such as reducing the blue spike area and increasing color rendering. With the development of lighting used in museums and art galleries, the direction of the display preservation criteria has led to the need to prepare advanced standards, covering all aspects from the center of illumination to the consideration of the color of an object and the speed of radiation from the light source. Regular studies of museum lighting in a long-term perspective should be planned to standardize the more advanced conditions of material discoloration.

The Study of White uniformity improvement in TFT LCD using LED (LED적용 TFT-LCD 외관 백색 균일도 향상을 위한 광선 추적 시뮬레이션 연구)

  • TFT-LCD(Thin Film Transistor Liquid Crystal Display)는 표시장치로서 실용화된 후 많은 상품에 적용중이다. 그러나, LCD는 자체 발광능력이 없으므로 그후면에서 LCD 화면을 밝혀주는 BLU(Backlight Unit)를 필요로 한다. BLU는 내부 광원으로 밝기가 균일한 평면광을 만들어 LCD 화면을 균일하게 면조사하는 역할을 한다. LCD가 적용되는 분야중 Note PC에는 광원으로 CCFL(Cold Cathode Fluorescent Lamp)가 적용되어 왔지만, 최근 고휘도, 박형화, 저소비 전력을 달성하기 위해 CCFL로는 한계가 있어 LED(Light Emitting Diode)를 적용한 BLU를 제작하기 위한 연구가 진행되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 점광원인 LED 적용한 LED에 있어서 요구되는 휘도 균일성을 향상시키기 위해서는 LED광원이 적용된 BLU의 외관 품질 향상을 위한 도광판 입광부 구조 최적화를 광추적 Simulation을 통해 예측하고 향상시킬 수 있는 구조를 제안한다. Simulation결과, 외관품질 개선을 위해 도광판 입광면에 130도의 Serration과 휘도를 향상하기 위해 도광판 밑면에 렌즈 형상의 바 구조를 도출해 적용한 결과 외관품질향상과 휘도향상을 얻었다.
