  • The most important factor within the wireless sensor network is to have effective network usage and increase the lifetime of the individual nodes in order to operate the wireless network more efficiently. Therefore, many routing protocols have been developed. The LEACH protocol presented by Wendi Heinzelman, especially well known as a simple and efficient clustering based routing protocol. However, because LEACH protocol in an irregular network is the total data throughput efficiency dropped, the stability of the cluster is declined. Therefore, to increase the stability of the cluster head, in this paper, it proposes a stochastic cluster head selection method for improving the LEACH protocol. To this end, it proposes a SH-LEACH(Stochastic Cluster Head Selection Method-LEACH) that it is combined to the HEED and LEACH protocol and the proposed algorithm is verified through the simulation.

  • In general, routing algorithms that were applied to ad-hoc networks are not suitable for the environment with many nodes over several thousands. To solve this problem, hierarchical management to these nodes and clustering-based protocols for the stable maintenance of topology are used. In this paper, we propose the clustering-based modified LEACH protocol that can applied to an environment which moves around metal containers within communication nodes. In proposed protocol, we implemented a module for detecting the movement of nodes on the clustering-based LEACH protocol and improved the defect of LEACH in an environment with movable nodes. And we showed the possibility of the effective communication by adjusting the configuration method of multi-hop. We also compared the proposed protocol with LEACH in four points of view, which are a gradual network composition time, a reconfiguration time of a topology, a success ratio of communication on an containers environment, and routing overheads. And to conclude, we verified that the proposed protocol is better than original LEACH protocol in the metal containers environment within communication of nodes.

  • WSN is a wirelessly configured network of sensor nodes with limited power such as batteries. If the sensor node's battery is exhausted, the node is no longer available. Therefore, if the network is to be used for a long time, energy consumption should be minimized. There are many Wireless Sensor Network Protocols to improve energy efficiency, including Cluster-based and chain-based Protocols. This paper seeks to examine the performance evaluation of routing protocols studied separately for the improvement of performance in wireless sensor network. The criteria for comparison were selected as the LEACH protocol, a representative hierarchical routing protocol, and the comparison targets considered CHEF and FLCFP and LEACH-DFL routing protocols with Fuzzy Logic. Various criteria for performance comparison were presented in this paper, and the performance was compared through simulation of each protocol. The purpose is to present a reference point for comparing the performance of other protocols through the performance comparison of CHEF, FLCFP, and LEACH-DFL, protocols with LEACH and Fuzzy Logic, and to provide additional design methods for improving the performance of protocols.

  • There are tendency that wireless sensor network is one of the important techniques for the future IT industry and thereby application areas in it are getting growing. Researches based on the hierarchical network topology are evaluated in good at energy efficiency in related protocols for wireless sensor network. LEACH is the best well known routing protocol for the hierarchical topology. However, there are problems in the range of message broadcasting, which should be expand into the overall network coverage, in LEACH related protocols. This dissertation proposes a new routing protocol to solve the co-shared problems in the previous protocols. The basic idea of our scheme is using the table for nodes connectivity and node energy information. The results show that the proposed protocol could support the load balancing by distributing the clusters with a reasonable number of member nodes and thereby the network life time would be extended in about 1.8 times longer than LEACH.

  • In this study, we use a parallel simulator PASENS(Parallel SEnsor Network Simulator) to predict power consumption and data reception rate of the hierarchical routing protocols for sensor network - LEACH (Low-Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy), TL-LEACH (Two Level Low-Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy), M-LEACH (Multi hop Low-Energy Adaptive Clustering Hierarchy) and LEACH-C (LEACH-Centralized). According to simulation results, M-LEACH routing protocol shows the highest data reception rate for the wider area, since more sensor nodes are involved in the data transmission. And LEACH-C routing protocol, where the sink node considers the entire node's residual energy and location to determine the cluster head, results in the most efficient energy consumption and in the narrow area needed long life of sensor network.

  • Wireless sensor networks are being used in various fields. Wireless sensor networks are applied in many areas, such as security, military detection, environmental management, industrial control, and home automation. There is a problem about the limit of energy that the sensor network basically has. In this paper, we propose the LEACH-CCBD (Low Energy Adaptive Clustering hierarchy - Centrailized with Cluster and Basestation Distance) algorithm that uses energy efficiently by improving network transmission based on LEACH-C among the representative routing protocols. The LEACH-CCBD algorithm is a method of assigning a cluster head to a cluster head by comparing the sum of the distance from the member node to the cluster distance and the distance from the cluster node to the base station with respect to the membership of the member nodes in the cluster when configuring the cluster. The proposed LEACH-CCBD used Matlab simulation to confirm the performance results for each protocol. As a result of the experiment, as the lifetime of the network increased, it was shown to be superior to the LEACH and LEACH-C algorithms.

  • LEACH is a important hierarchical protocol in wireless sensor network. In LEACH, the head is randomly selected for balanced energy consume. In LEACH-C, the node that has more energy than the average value is selected for the network life cycle. However, the round continues, the improved protocol is needed because the energy and network are changed. In this paper, LEACH, LEACH-C is not considered the energy consumed in the round because of wasted energy and reduce the time for presenting a new round time was set. And proposed the new algorithm using the energy threshold for the cluster head selection and the round time. In simulation, we show the improved performance compared to existing protocols.

  • A Wireless Sensor Network is a network that is composed of wireless sensor nodes. There is no restriction on the place where it can be installed because it is composed wirelessly. Instead, sensor nodes have limited energy, such as batteries. Therefore, to use the network for a long time, energy consumption should be minimized. Several protocols have been proposed to minimize energy consumption, and the typical protocol is the LEACH protocol. The LEACH protocol is a cluster-based protocol that minimizes energy consumption by dividing the sensor field into clusters. Depending on how you organize the clusters of sensor field, network lifetimes may increase or decrease. In this paper, we will improve the network lifetime by improving the cluster head selection method in LEACH Protocol.

  • LEACH, one of hierarchical based routing protocols, was proposed for energy efficiency which is the most important requirement of Wireless Sensor Network(WSN). LEACH protocol is composed of a cluster of certain large number of clusters, which have a cluster head and member nodes. Member nodes send sensing data to their cluster heads, and the cluster heads aggregate the sensing data and transmit it to BS. The challenges of LEACH protocol are that cluster heads are not evenly distributed, and energy consumption to transmit aggregated data from Cluster heads directly to BS is excessive. This study, to improve LEACH protocol, suggests LECEEP that transmit data to contiguity cluster head that is the nearest and not far away BS forming chain between cluster head, and then the nearest cluster head from BS transmit aggregated data finally to BS. According to simulation, LECEEP consumes less energy and retains more number of survival node than LEACH protocol.
