Social Network Aggregators are used to maintain and manage manifold accounts over multiple online social networks. Displaying the Activity feed for each social network on a common dashboard has been the status quo of social aggregators for long, however retrieving the desired data from various social networks is a major concern. A user inputs the query desiring the specific outcome from the social networks. Since the intention of the query is solely known by user, therefore the output of the query may not be as per user's expectation unless the system considers 'user-centric' factors. Moreover, the quality of solution depends on these user-centric factors, the user inclination and the nature of the network as well. Thus, there is a need for a system that understands the user's intent serving structured objects. Further, choosing the best execution and optimal ranking functions is also a high priority concern. The current work finds motivation from the above requirements and thus proposes the design of a query processing system to retrieve information from social network that extracts user's intent from various social networks. For further improvements in the research the machine learning techniques are incorporated such as Latent Dirichlet Algorithm (LDA) and Ranking Algorithm to improve the query results and fetch the information using data mining techniques. The proposed framework uniquely contributes a user-centric query retrieval model based on natural language and it is worth mentioning that the proposed framework is efficient when compared on temporal metrics. The proposed Query Processing System to Retrieve Information from Social Network (QPSSN) will increase the discoverability of the user, helps the businesses to collaboratively execute promotions, determine new networks and people. It is an innovative approach to investigate the new aspects of social network. The proposed model offers a significant breakthrough scoring up to precision and recall respectively.

In this paper, we propose a illumination-robust face recognition system using MCS-LBP and 2D-PCA algorithm. A binary pattern transform which has been used in the field of the face recognition and facial expression, has a characteristic of robust to illumination. Thus, this paper propose MCS-LBP which is more robust to illumination than previous LBP, and face recognition system fusing 2D-PCA algorithm. The performance evaluation of proposed system was performed by using various binary pattern images and well-known face recognition features such as PCA, LDA, 2D-PCA and ULBP histogram of gabor images. In the process of performance evaluation, we used a YaleB face database, an extended YaleB face database, and a CMU-PIE face database that are constructed under varying lighting condition, and the proposed system which consists of MCS-LBP image and 2D-PCA feature show the best recognition accuracy.

User recognition technology, which identifies or verifies a certain individual is absolutely essential under robotic environments for intelligent services. The conventional face recognition algorithm using single distance face image as training images has a problem that face recognition rate decreases as distance increases. The face recognition algorithm using face images by actual distance as training images shows good performance but this has a problem that it requires user cooperation. This paper proposes the LDA-based long distance face recognition method which uses multiple distance face images from a zoom camera for training face images. The proposed face recognition technique generated better performance by average 7.8% than the technique using the existing single distance face image as training. Compared with the technique that used face images by distance as training, the performance fell average 8.0%. However, the proposed method has a strength that it spends less time and requires less cooperation to users when taking face images.
Forearm electromyography (EMG) generated by wrist movements has been widely used to develop an electrical prosthetic hand, but EMG generated by finger movements has been rarely used even though 20% of amputees lose fingers. The goal of this study is to improve the classification performance of different finger movements using a deep learning algorithm, and thereby contributing to the development of a high-performance finger-based prosthetic hand. Ten participants took part in this study, and they performed seven different finger movements forty times each (thumb, index, middle, ring, little, fist and rest) during which EMG was measured from the back of the right hand using four bipolar electrodes. We extracted mean absolute value (MAV), root mean square (RMS), and mean (MEAN) from the measured EMGs for each trial as features, and a 5x5-fold cross-validation was performed to estimate the classification performance of seven different finger movements. A long short-term memory (LSTM) model was used as a classifier, and linear discriminant analysis (LDA) that is a widely used classifier in previous studies was also used for comparison. The best performance of the LSTM model (sensitivity: 91.46 ± 6.72%; specificity: 91.27 ± 4.18%; accuracy: 91.26 ± 4.09%) significantly outperformed that of LDA (sensitivity: 84.55 ± 9.61%; specificity: 84.02 ± 6.00%; accuracy: 84.00 ± 5.87%). Our result demonstrates the feasibility of a deep learning algorithm (LSTM) to improve the performance of classifying different finger movements using EMG.

The purpose of the study was to identify fiber changes induced by electrical stimulation of a certain neural substrate in the rat brain. In the stimulation group, the peripheral nerve was injured and the brain area associated to inhibit sensory information was electrically stimulated. There were sham and sham stimulation groups as controls. Then high-field diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) was acquired. 35 features were taken from the DTI measures from 7 different brain pathways. To compare the efficacy of the classification for 3 animal groups, the linear regression analysis (LDA) and the machine learning technique (MLP) were applied. It was found that the testing accuracy by MLP was about 77%, but that of accuracy by LDA was much higher than MLP. In conclusion, machine learning algorithm could be used to identify and predict the changes of the brain white matter in some situations. The limits of this study will be discussed.

In this paper, we propose novel feature extraction algorithm for classification of seabed sediment. In previous researches, acoustic reflection coefficient has been used to classify seabed sediments, which is constant in terms of frequency. However, attenuation of seabed sediment is a function of frequency and is highly influenced by sediment types in general. Hence, we developed a feature vector by using attenuation variation with respect to frequency. The attenuation variation is obtained by using reflected signal from the second sediment layer, which is generated by broadband chirp. The proposed feature vector has advantage in number of dimensions to classify the seabed sediment over the classical scalar feature (reflection coefficient). To compare the proposed feature with the classical scalar feature, dimension of proposed feature vector is reduced by using linear discriminant analysis (LDA). Synthesised acoustic amplitudes reflected by seabed sediments are generated by using Biot model and the performance of proposed feature is evaluated by using Fisher scoring and classification accuracy computed by maximum likelihood decision (MLD). As a result, the proposed feature shows higher discrimination performance and more robustness against measurement errors than that of classical feature.
Network threats such as Internet worms and computer viruses have been significantly increasing. In particular, APTs(Advanced Persistent Threats) and ransomwares become clever and complex. IDSes(Intrusion Detection Systems) have performed a key role as information security solutions during last few decades. To use an IDS effectively, IDS rules must be written properly. An IDS rule includes a key signature and is incorporated into an IDS. If so, the network threat containing the signature can be detected by the IDS while it is passing through the IDS. However, it is challenging to find a key signature for a specific network threat. We first need to analyze a network threat rigorously, and write a proper IDS rule based on the analysis result. If we use a signature that is common to benign and/or normal network traffic, we will observe a lot of false alarms. In this paper, we propose a scheme that analyzes a network threat and extracts key signatures corresponding to the threat. Specifically, our proposed scheme quantifies the degree of correspondence between a network threat and a signature using the LDA(Latent Dirichlet Allocation) algorithm. Obviously, a signature that has significant correspondence to the network threat can be utilized as an IDS rule for detection of the threat.
It is well known that the tracking a certain person is a vary needed technic in the humanoid robot. In robot technic, we should consider three aspects that is cloth color matching, face recognition and motion analysis. Because a robot technic use some sensors, it is many different with the robot technic to track a certain person through the CCTV images. A system speed should be fast in CCTV images, hence we must have small calculation numbers. We need the statistical variable for color matching and we adapt the eigen-face for face recognition to speed up the system. In this situation, motion analysis have to added for the propose of the efficient detecting system. But, in many motion analysis systems, the speed and the recognition rate is low because the system operates on the all image area. In this paper, we use the moving energy only on the face area which is searched when the face recognition is processed, since the moving energy has low calculation numbers. When the proposed algorithm has been compared with Girondel, V. et al's method for experiment, we obtained same recognition rate as Girondel, V., the speed of the proposed algorithm was the more faster. When the LDA has been used, the speed was same and the recognition rate was better than Girondel, V.'s method, consequently the proposed algorithm is more efficient for tracking a certain person.
This paper proposes a scalable face recognition method for unconstrained face databases, and shows a simple experimental result. Existing face recognition research usually has focused on improving the recognition rate in a constrained environment where illumination, face alignment, facial expression, and background is controlled. Therefore, it cannot be applied in unconstrained face databases. The proposed system is face feature extraction algorithm for unconstrained face recognition. First of all, we extract the area that represent the important features(landmarks) in the face, like the eyes, nose, and mouth. Each landmark is represented by a high-dimensional LBP(Local Binary Pattern) histogram feature vector. The multi-scale LBP histogram vector corresponding to a single landmark, becomes a low-dimensional face feature vector through the feature reduction process, PCA(Principal Component Analysis) and LDA(Linear Discriminant Analysis). We use the Rank acquisition method and Precision at k(p@k) performance verification method for verifying the face recognition performance of the low-dimensional face feature by the proposed algorithm. To generate the experimental results of face recognition we used the FERET, LFW and PubFig83 database. The face recognition system using the proposed algorithm showed a better classification performance over the existing methods.
