In the application areas of LBS(Location Based Service) and ITS(Intelligent Transportation System), continuous k-nearest neighbor query(CkNN) which is defined as a query to find the nearest points of interest to all the points on a given path is widely used. It is necessary to acquire results quickly in the above applications and be applicable to spatial network databases. It is also able to cope successfully with frequent updates of POI objects. This paper proposes a new method to search nearest POIs for moving query objects on the spatial networks. The method produces a set of split points and their corresponding k-POIs as results with partial order among k-POIs. The results obtained from experiments with real dataset show that the proposed method outperforms the existing methods. The proposed method achieves very short processing time(15%) compared with the existing method.

When lighting has installed indoor, we control lighting using human-detecting sensors for people who pass at night and places that are lack of quantity of light. However, malfunction can be caused by positions of inappropriate sensors, and in the case of passages of big buildings, it is a problem that even after a person pass, light apparatuses are turned on for a long time. In this paper, we propose lighting control system based on location positioning for energy saving that control lighting in accordance with passers's position through indoor location positioning. This system use the fingerprinting technology that is one of the location positioning technologies and RSSI data that is collected by a smart device. Using those, it can turn on only lightings that are included in the positioned location and reduce unnecessary power consumption. As a result of experiment, on condition that four people were existing and illumination was 308 lux, we assured reduction effect of 49 Wh.

The modern society with the wide spread recognition of the importance of informatics and for the development of information and communication technology is rapidly processing. Especially the rapid development in mobile technology boost up the general expectation that one can get the information he wants anytime anywhere. Accordingly image search for the convenient information retrieval is becoming common. However general image search has difficulties because inexactitude extracting character in the image and getting the detail information in extracted character. Therefore these paper make character recognition through the images that I photographed a sightseeing resort, a signboard of a lot of stores to a smart phone camera, so information offer to be convenient to users is a purpose. A user can get detailed information, by character extraction way called top-hat algorithm and connect to a server.

Recently, various methods have been proposed to process k-NN (k-Nearest Neighbors) queries efficiently. However the previous methods have problems that they access additional cells unnecessarily and spend the high computation cost to find the nearest cells. In this paper, to overcome the problems, we propose a new method to process k-NN queries using the patterns of the distance relationship between the cells in a grid. The patterns are composed of the relative coordinates of cells sorted by the distance from certain points. Since the proposed method finds the nearest cells to process k-NN queries with traversing the patterns sequentially, it saves the computation cost. It is shown through the various experiments that out proposed method is much better than the existing method, CPM, in terms of the query processing time and the storage overhead.
The essential characteristic of ubiquitous is context-awareness, and that means ubiquitous computing can automatically process the data that change according to space and time, without users' intervention. However, in circumstance of context awareness, since location information is able to be collected without users' clear approval, users cannot control their location information completely. These problems can cause privacy issue when users access their location information. Therefore, it is important to construct the location information system, which decides to release the information considering privacy under the condition such as location, users' situation, and people who demand information. Therefore, in order to intercept an outflow information and provide securely location-based information, this paper suggests a new system based CS-RBAC with the existing LBS, which responds sensitively as customer's situation. Moreover, it accommodates a merit of PCP reflecting user's preference constructively. Also, through privacy weight, it makes information not only decide to providing information, but endow 'grade'. By this method, users' data can be protected safely with foundation of 'Role' in context-aware circumstance.
This paper deals with an efficient index scheduling technique based on Hilbert curve and MBR for k-NN query in a single wireless broadcast channel environment. Previous works have two major problems. One is that they need a long time to process queries due to the back-tracking problem. The other is that they have to download too many spatial data since they can not reduce search space rapidly. Our proposed method broadcasts spatial data based on Hilbert curve order where a distributed index table is also broadcast with each spatial data. Each entry of index table represents the MBR which groups spatial data. By predicting the unknown location of spatial data, our proposed index scheme allows mobile clients to remove unnecessary data and to reduce search space rapidly. As a result, our method gives the decreased tuning time and access latency.

The necessity of future index is increasing to predict the future location of moving objects promptly for various location-based services. A representative research topic related to future index is the probability trajectory prediction technique that improves reliability using the past trajectory information of moving objects in the road network environment. However, the prediction performance of this technique is lowered by the heavy load of extensive future trajectory search in long-range future queries, and its index maintenance cost is high due to the frequent update of future trajectory. Thus, this paper proposes the Probability Cell Trajectory-Tree (PCT-Tree), a cell-based future indexing technique for efficient long-range future location prediction. The PCT-Tree reduces the size of index by rebuilding the probability of extensive past trajectories in the unit of cell, and improves the prediction performance of long-range future queries. In addition, it predicts reliable future trajectories using information on past trajectories and, by doing so, minimizes the cost of communication resulting from errors in future trajectory prediction and the cost of index rebuilding for updating future trajectories. Through experiment, we proved the superiority of the PCT-Tree over existing indexing techniques in the performance of long-range future queries.

LBS (Location-Based Service) systems have become a serious subject for research and development since recent rapid advances in wireless communication technologies and position measurement technologies such as global positioning system. The architecture named the GALIS (Gracefully Aging Location Information System) has been suggested which is a cluster-based distributed computing system architecture to overcome performance losses and to efficiently handle a large volume of data, at least millions. The GALIS consists of SLDS and LLDS. The SLDS manages current location information of moving objects and the LLDS manages past location information of moving objects. In this thesis, we implement a monitoring technique for the GALIS prototype, to allow dynamic load balancing among multiple computing nodes by keeping track of the load of each node in real-time during the location data management and spatio-temporal query processing. We also propose a buffering technique which efficiently manages the query results having overlapped query regions to improve query processing performance of the GALIS. The proposed scheme reduces query processing time by eliminating unnecessary query execution on the overlapped regions with the previous queries.

BIS is an arrival guidance system which is able to supply passengers with bus service condition via Kiosks at a bus stop, internet and mobile service through pinpointing bus location in real time. It is very significant to improve the quality of traffic information by quality control of GIS-based bus network so as to maintain navigational information and to implement reliable BIS. Therefore this study aims to build criteria to quantitatively evaluate data quality of the product in accordance with the process in bus network data and to suggest guideline of quality control. To achieve this, we have categorized geometric and logical errors occurring during constructing bus network database by giving a specific case study on TAGO and set up sectional guideline and procedures to examine database for systematic and coherent quality control management. Proceeding from what has been said above, the outcome of our research leads to quality guarantee for objective and reliable bus network database and is fully expected to bring benefit of providing a more accurate public transportation information and improving reliability of BIS through preventing a variety of errors in system operation in advance.

To support Location Based Services, the technology to store and search locations information of moving objects effectively was needed. And the study about indexes to manage these moving objects effectively has been done. As these indexes for moving objects was not considered for the objects which are moving along constrained networks such as road and railroad, indexes for the moving objects based on constrained networks was proposed. But these kinds of indexes have two problems as following. First, as the indexes for the moving objects based on constrained networks is divided according to time domain, when the places of moving objects from the present to the past are needed, the problem to search past indexes as well as present indexes occurs. Second, in this case, we should construct both present indexes and past indexes, so we have no other choice but to spend space cost and reconstruction cost additionally. This paper proposes A Unified Index for Moving Objects in Constrained Networks to solve these kinds of problems. As this proposed indexes support both present location and past location of moving objects, it can solve the current problems such as when we search present and past location of moving objects, we need a separate processing procedure. And as it consolidated the common parts of current location indexes and past location indexes, we can use less space cost and reconstruction cost than when we maintain indexes separately.
