Characteristics of Organic Electroluminescent Device Consisting of PDPMA LB Film as a Polymer Hole Transport Material and Alq$_3$ (고분자 정공 전달체로서 PDPMA LB 필름과 Alq$_3$로 구성되는 유기 발광소자의 특성)

  • Organic electroluminescent (EL) device was fabricated with Alq$_3$ as an emitting material and PDPMA ultra thin film prepared by Langmuir-Boldgett technique as a polymer hole transport layer. A stable condensed PDPMA monolayer was obtained using arachidic acid as a surface active material. The thickness and absorbance of PDPMA LB film increased line-arly with the layer numbers. The organic multilayered device consisted of ITO/PDPMA LB film (19 layers)/Alq$_3$/Al emitted green light with brightness of 2500 cd/m$^2$ at a DC 14 V Especially, the drive voltage of EL device having PDPMA LB film of 15 layers exhibited the value as low as 4 V. The effects of thickness control and molecular orientation in the PDPMA LB film on EL performance were discussed.

  • Abstract We give pressure stimulation into organic thin films and then manufacture a device under the accumulation condition that the state surface pressure is 10[mN/m]. In processing of a device manufacture, we can see the process is good from the change of a surface pressure for organic thin films and transfer ratio of area per molecule. The structure of manufactured device is Au/Poly-${\gamma}$ Benzyl $_D$-Glutamate/Al; the number of accumulated layers is 1, 3, 5 and 7. Also, we then examined of the MIM device by means of I-V. The I-V characteristic of the device is measured from 0 to +2[V]. We determined electrochemical measurement by using cyclic voltammetry with a three-electrode system. LB film accumulated by monolayer on an ITO. In the cyclicvoltammetry, An Ag/AgCl reference electrode, a platinum wire counter electrode and LB film-coated ITO working electrode measured in $LiBF_4$ solution, stable up to 0.9V vs. Ag/AgCl.

  • The characterization of organic Metal/Insulator/Metal(MIM) devices were investigated from LB films. The physicochemical properties of the LB films were by UV absorption spectrum and AFM. We give pressure stimulation into organic thin films and then manufacture a device under the accumulation condition that the state surface pressure is 2, 10, 30[mN/ml The stable images are probably due to a strong interaction between the monolayer film and glass substrate. We are unable to obtain molecule resolution in images of the films but did see a marked contrast between images of the bare substrate and those with the network structure film deposited onto it.

A Study on the synthesis and Photoisomerization of the Akyloxyazobenzene Derivatives (Alkyloxyazobenzene 유도체의 합성과 광이성질화 현상에 관한 연구)

  • We synthesized the p-nonyloxyazobenzene derivatives with functional structures and carried out this experiments to observe photoisomerization irradiated by alternate lights. We found that it was reversibly induced to cis-trans photoisomerization in several solvents. Spreading solutions for the LB films were prepared in chloroform($1.2{\times}10^{-2}$ mmol). As a result, it is found that the absorption spectra of the LB monolayer films was induced to photoisomerization by alternative irradiation lights, temperatures and pH(HCL and $NH_3$), respectively.

  • We fabricated organic electroluminescent(EL) devices with mixed emitting layer of poly (N- vinylcarbazole) ( PVK) , 2,5-bis (5-tert-butyl -2- benzoxaBoly) thiophene ( BBOT) , N,N-diphenyl-N,N- (3-methyphenyl) -1,1-biphenyl-4, 4-thiamine(TPD) and poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT) deposited by LB(Langumuir-Boldgett) method. From the AFM(atomic force microscope) images, the monolayer containing 30% of AA(arachidic acid) showed a roughness value of 28$\AA$. In the voltage-current characteristics of ITO/Emitting layer/BBOT/LiF/A1 devices, current density much smaller than that of the spin-coated devices having a same thickness.

  • We have investgated the photoisomerization using light irradiation 8A5H LB film accumulated by monolayer and three layers on an ITO. We determined electrochemical measurement by using cyclic voltammetry with a three-electrode system, An Ag/AgCl reference electrode, a platinum wire counter electrode and LB film-coated ITO working electrode measured in 0.1mol/L NaClO$_4$ solution. The scan rate was 100mv/s.

  • Maxwell displacement current (MDC) measurement has been employed to study the dielectric property of Langmuir-films. A method for determining the dielectric relaxation time $\tau$ of floating monolayers on water surface is presented. WC flowing across monolayers is analyzed using a rod-like molecular model. It is revealed that the dielectric relaxation time $\tau$ of monolayers in the isotropic polar orientational phase is determined using a liner relationship between the monolayer compression speed ${\alpha}$ and the molecular area Am. Compression speed ${\alpha}$ was about 30, 40, 50mm/min.

  • Electro-optic modulators based on 25 monolayer langmuir-blodgett films of vinylidene fluoride and trifluoroethylene, P(VDF-TrFE), were fabricated. The LB films were prepared by transferring the monolayers on to an ITO coated glass with a surface pressure of 5 dyne/cm by use of the langmuir-schaefer deposition method. Measurement of the electro-optic coefficient has been carried out using a simple reflection techique. The E/O coefficient was found to be 154.9 pm/V and that value remained stable for at least 50 days.

  • In this study, we fabricated hierarchically self-assembled thin films composed of graphene oxide (GO) sheets and gold nanoparticles (Au NPs) using the Langmuir-Blodgett (LB) and Langmuir-Schaefer (LS) techniques and investigated their gas-sensing performance. First, a thermally oxidized silicon wafer ($Si/SiO_2$) was hydrophobized by depositing the LB films of cadmium arachidate. Thin films of ligand-capped Au NPs and GO sheets of the appropriate size were then sequentially transferred onto the hydrophobic silicon wafer using the LB and the LS techniques, respectively. Several different films were prepared by varying the ligand type, film composition, and surface pressure of the spread monolayer at the air/water interface. Their structures were observed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM), and their gas-sensing performance for $NH_3$ and $CO_2$ was assessed. The thin films of dodecanethiol-capped Au NPs and medium-sized GO sheets had a better hierarchical structure with higher uniformity and exhibited better gas-sensing performance.

  • Stable polyion-complexed polymeric monolayrers were prepared by spreading perfluoroalkyl monomaleatd copolymers. C$_2$F$\_$8/MA-VE$_2$ and C$_2$F$\_$8/Mv-VE$_3$ on aqueous poly(allylamine) subphase. The monolayer properties have been studied by the surface pressure-area($\pi$-A) isotherms. The C$_2$F$\_$8/MA-VE$_3$containing longer oligoethyleneglycol pendant showed more expaned monolayer phase than the C$_2$F$\_$8/MA-VE$_2$ The polyion-complexed monolayers were transferable on various substrates, and the resulting Langmuir-Blodgett(LB) films were characterized b ET-IR spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy(SEM) Two-dimensional crosslinking to from a polymer network was achieved by amide formation through heat treatment under vacuum with concurrent removel of perfluoroalkyl tails. SEM observation of this film ona porous membrane filter showed that the four layer film was sufficiently stable to cover the filter pore size of 0.1$\mu\textrm{m}$. The C$_2$F$\_$8/MA-VE$_3$revealed better covering capability than the C$_2$F$\_$8/MA-VE$_2$Immersion of this film in water or in benzend did not cause any change in its appearance and in FT-IR spectra.
