In this paper, we have fabricated Langmuir-Blodgett(LB) films by LB technique and evaluated the deposited status of LB films by UV-vis absorbance. It was found thatthe thickness of LB films per a layer are $27~30[{\AA}]$ by ellipsometry. The responeses between LB films and organic gases were investigated using by I-V characteristics of LB films and F-R diagram of quartz crystal. The response orders between LB films and organic gases observed by I-V characteristics were as following ; chloroform, methanol, acetone and ethanol in the order of their short chain length. The response mechanism between LB films and organic gases observed by F-R diagram of quartz crystal could be modeled on adsorption at surface, penetration, desorption at surface and inside.
The electrical characteristics of fatty acid LB films were investigated to develop the gas sensor using Langmuir-Blodgett(LB) films which have high ordered orientation and ordering structure. The deposition status of fatty acid LB films were verified by the measurements of UV absorbance. The conductivity of fatty acid LB films for horizontal direction at room temperature was about $10^8[S/cm]$,/TEX>, which was correspond to semiconductor material. The activation energy for fatty acid LB films with respect to variation of temperature was about l.O[eV]. The response characteristics for organic gas were confirmed by measuring the response time, recovery time, and reproducibility of the fatty acid LB films to each organic gas. Also, the penetration and adsorption behavior of gas molecule were confirmed through the organic gas response characteristics of fatty acid LB films with respect to temperature.
In this paper, the hybrid LB-TJW(Leaky Bucket-Triggered Jumping Window) algorithm for multimedia traffic control is proposed and its performance is evaluated and analyzed. Its architecture is composed of the peak bit rate controller and the average bit rate controller. Generally, the cell which violates the peak bit rate is discraded in LBalgorithm, and the average bit rate of JW or TJW algorithm is better than that of LB algorithm. However, the hybrid LB-TJW algorithm passes it though the network if the cell does not violate the peak bit rate. If the cell violates the peak bit rate, the hybrid LB-TJW algorithm passes it to the average bit rate controller which perforithm to monitor the average bit rate of input traffic. The TJW algorithm monitors the cell that violates the average bit rate. If the cell does not violate the average bit rare, the LB-TJW algorithm passes it through the network. As simulation results, the cell loss rate and the buffer size of the LB-TJW algorithm is reduced to half as much as those of LB algortihm.

This study was carried out to estimate the effect of selected inoculants on chemical compositions and fermentation characteristics of rye silage. Rye was harvested at dough stage and divided into 5 treatments, following: No additives (CON); L. plantarum R48-27 (LP27); L. buchneri R4-26 (LB26); Mixture of LP27 and LB26 at 1:1 ratio (MIX); and L. buchneri (LB). The rye forage was ensiled into 10 L bucket silo for 100 days. The contents of NDF and ADF were lowest (P<0.05) in LB26. The pH in LB26, MIX, and LB were lower (P<0.05) than CON and LP27. Lactate content in LB was higher (P<0.05) than the others, while acetate content in LB26 and LB were higher (P<0.05) than that in CON and LP27. Lactate to acetate ratio was highest (P<0.05) in LB, but lowest in LB26. Lactic acid bacteria (LAB) count in LB was higher (P<0.05) than that in CON, while yeast count in CON was lower than in all silages applied inoculants. In conclusion, silages inoculated with LB26 could improve potentially the aerobic stability caused by increases of acetate and propionate concentrations.
The in vitro antibacterial activities of LB10522, a new catechol-substituted cephalosporin, were compared with those of cefpirome, ceftazidime, ceftriaxone, and cefoperaz one against clinical isolates and laboratory standard anaerobes. LB10522 had broad spectrum antibacterial activities against both gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms. It was most active against gram-positve bacteria among the reference cephalosporins tested. Against gram-negative strains such as the family Enterobacteriaceae, LB10522 showed an activity comparable to that of cefpirome. But LB10522 was more potent than ceftazidime, ceftriaxone and cefoperazone. In particular, Pseudomonas aeruginosa was highly susceptible to LB10522, which was 32-fold and 64-fold more active than ceftazidime and cefpirome, respectively. Against anaerobic strains, the activity of LB10522 was similar to those of reference compounds. LB10522 exhibited potent therapeutic activities against experimental local infections in mice. The therapeutic effect of LB10522 against urinary tract infection (UTI) caused by P. aeruginosa 1912E in mice was superior to that of cefpirome. Against experimental respiratory tract infection (RTI) caused by K. pneumoniae DT-S in mice, LB10522 was as effective as cefpirome. The in vivo efficacy of LB10522 was correlated well with its in vitro activity.
LB10522 is a new parenteral broad spectrum cephalosporin with a catechol moiety at C-7 position of beta-lactam ring. This compound can utilize tonB-dependent iron transp ort system in addition to porin proteins to enter bacterial periplasmic space and access to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) which are the lethal targets of ${\beta}$-lactam antibiotics. The chelating activity of LB10522 to metal iron was measured by spectrophotometrically scanning the absorbance from 200 to 900nm. When $FeCl_3$ was added, optical density was increased between 450 and 800nm. LB10522 was more active against gram-negative strains in iron-depleted media than in iron-replete media. This is due to the increased expression of iron transport channels in iron-depleted condition. LB10522 showed a similar activity against E. coli DC2 (permeability mutant) and E. coli DCO (wild type strain) in both iron-depleted and iron-replete media, indicating a minimal permeaility barrier for LB10522 uptake. LB10522 had high affinities to PBP 3 and PBP 1A, 1B of E. coli. By blocking these proteins, LB10522 caused inhibition of cell division and the eventual death of cells. This result was correlated well with the morphological changes in E. coli exposed to LB10522. Although the in vitro MIC of LB10522 against P. aeruginosa 1912E mutant (tonB) was 8-times higher than that of the P. aeruginosa 1912E parent strain, LB10522 showed a similar in vivo protection efficacy against both strains in the mouse systemic infection model. This result suggested that tonB mutant, which requires a high level of iron for normal growth, might have a difficulty in surviving in their host with an iron-limited environment.
We have fabricated LB ultra-thin films of maleate system by LB technique and evaluated the deposited status of LB ultra-thin films by I-V characteristics such as capacitance. It was found that the thickness of LB ultra-thin per layer is $27~30[{\AA}]$ by XRD. And, we have known that the conductivity along the horizontal direction of LB ultra-thin films was about $10^{-8}[S/cm]$, it corresponds to the semiconducting materials. Also, the I-V characteristics along the vertical direction of LB ultra-thin films was dominated by Schottky type current, the activation energy obtained by current-temperature characteristics was about 0.84[eV] and the conductivity was about $10^{-14}[S/cm]$, it corresponds to the insulator. And, the anisotropic conduction mechanism of the LB ultra-thin films in vertical direction and horizontal direction is determined by the hydrophilic group and the hydrophobic group in LB ultra-thin films. The above results are applicable to the semiconductor devices such as switching device, which function at the molecular level.
General pharmacological studies of LB20304a (a mesylate salt form of a new quinolone antibiotic LB20304 following oral administration of 300 mg/kg and 1000 mg/kg, almost maximum tolerance dose in mice and rat, respectively, were performed in terms of effects on general behaviour, central nervous system, gastrointestinal system, and blood coagulation system in mice and rats. With regards to general behaviour of mice, at oral dose of 300 mg/kg, LB20304a reduced muscle tone and locomotor activity. In terms of CNS, at oral treatment of 300 mg/kg, LB20304a showed some analgesic effects in mice, and oral dose of 1000 mg/kg caused drop in normal body temperature of rat, while it enhanced the pentylenetetrazole-induced clonic convulsion to tonic convulsion and/or death in mice at the doses of unto 300 mg/kg. In addition, LB20304a increased hexobarbital-induced sleeping time two and three times in mice at oral doses of 20 mg/kg and 300 mg/kg, respectively. Rota-rod and traction test in mice were not influenced by the dose of 300 mg/kg and 200 mg/kg, respectively. LB20304a reduced gastric secretion of rat at dose of 1000 mg/kg, and increased intestinal motility of mice at dose of 300 mg/kg. In rats, blood coagulation index, such as PT (prothrombin time) and aPTT (activated partial thromboplastin time) were not affected by the treatment of upto 1000 mg/kg of LB 20304a.
In this paper, we study the electrical conduction mechanism in Langmuir-Boldgett(LB) ultra thin films. The LB device has a metal/Lb films/metal sandwich structure, where metal is electrode. In our experiments, the temperature does not depend on the current at below 0$^{\circ}C$. This phenomena show that the electrical conduction current is a tunnel current inherent to LB ultra thin films.
