Changes of Flavor Components and Lipid Contents in Tomato Fruits during Storage : Changes of Lipid Condents and Its Correlation with Flavor Components (감압저장중 Tomato 과실의 향기 및 지질성분의 변화 -저장중 지질성분의 변화와 향기성분과의 상관관계-)

  • Total lipid contents of tomato fruits were 97.6mg% and composed of neutral lipid(45.1mg%), phospholipid(31.2mg%) and glycolipid(12.4mg%). The contents of neutral lipid were slowly increased from the period of climacteric rise, but those of glycolipid and phospholipid were slowly decreased at the end of storage period. Major fatty acids in all lipids were identified to be palmitic, stearic, linoleic and oleic acids. The contents of linoleic acid in all lipids at $25^{\circ}C$ and those in neutrallipid at $15^{\circ}C$ were decreased, while those in phospholipid were slightly increased during storage. The contents of palmitic acid in neutral lipid were decreased, whereas those in glycolipid and phospholipid have a tendency to increase during storage. As for normal atmospheric pressure-normal temperature(NAP-N) condition, volatiles from homogenated tomato fruits were positively correlated with palmitic acid of neutral lipid, whereas negatively correlated with linoleic acid. As for subatmospheric pressure-low temperature(SAP-L) condition, the relationship between volatiles and fatty acids of neutral lipid was similar to NAP-N condition. Volatiles were positively correlated with linoleic acid of glycolipid and stearic acid of phosholipid, whereas negatively correlated with oleic acid of glycolipid and palmitic acid of phospholipid, respectively.

The Effects of Light Colors on the Behavior and Performance of Broiler Chickens (조명의 색이 육계의 행동과 생산성에 미치는 영향)

  • The aim of the present study was to investigate the behavior and performance of male and female broiler chickens reared under three different colors of light (white, blue and red) in a 23L:1D of lighting program. Day-old broiler chicks were obtained and assigned to six pens (16 males and 16 females per pen). Two pens each were located in three different rooms in an environmentally controlled shed and received the different light colors. All birds received same husbandry conditions. After a 3-day adaptation to the light color, behavior observations (pecking, resting, standing and walking) were made on six focal birds per pen, representing the sex ratio, by direct visual scans for 120 minutes daily for five days a week throughout the 5-week study. Body weights and feed intake were recorded at weekly intervals. On days 19 and 33, welfare indicators (tonic immobility reaction on the 19 and 33 days old; gait scores, foot pad and hock burns scores on 33 days old) were determined. Light color had no significant effect (P>0.05) on the weight gain and feed intake of broilers, but significantly (P<0.05) influenced the feed conversion ratio. Birds receiving the blue light were more (P<0.05) efficient than those receiving white and red lights. Resting was observed to be the major behavior pattern, irrespective of sex or light color. During early growth, resting behavior tended to be lower in birds receiving red light. However, standing and walking behaviors tended to be higher in birds receiving red light in 4 to 18 day-old age and all of experimental periods, respectively. These data indicate that light color can influence broiler performance and behavior.

Total Polyphenol Content and Antioxidative Activities of Mistletoe(Viscum album) Extracts by Supercritical Carbon Dioxide (초임계 이산화탄소를 이용한 겨우살이(Mistletoe, Viscum album) 추출물의 폴리페놀 함량 및 항산화 활성)

  • This study was performed to investigate antioxidant activities of Mistletoe (MS) extracts by measuring electron donating ability (EDA), super oxide dismutase (SOD)-like activity and total polyphenol content (TPC). The extracts were obtained using supercritical carbon dioxide, hot-water and ethanol extraction. EDAs was the higher in ethanol extract (70.53%) than water (36.73%) or supercritical carbon dioxide extract (15.73% at 400 bar, $30^{\circ}C$) at concentration of 10 mg/mL. However, SOD-like activities and TPCs were the highest in the supercritical carbon dioxide extract. At concentration of 1 mg/mL, supercritical carbon dioxide extract (22.54% at 200 bar, $40^{\circ}C$) was higher SOD activity than water (7.85%) and ethanol extract (6.12%). Regarding TPCs of MS extracts, the content was the highest in supercritical carbon dioxide extract (17.57 wt% catechin equivalent at 200 bar, $50^{\circ}C$) followed by ethanol and water extract. These results suggest that it can be useful to develop functional foods using antioxidative active compounds of MS with high polyphenol contents.

가스산업시설에서의 위험성 평가분야에서 지리정보시스템의 적용

  • 우리나라는 그동안 가스산업에서 고속성장을 이룩해 왔으나, 근래에는 중대가스산업사고가 빈번하게 일어나고 있다. 그건 이유로 1996년도에는 중대산업사고 예방제도가 전면적으로 실시되고 공정안전보고서를 작성하여 제출하도록 함으로서 위험성 평가의 중요성이 점차 높아가고 있으며, 위험성 평가 기법들에 대하여 여러 연구 단체에서 연구ㆍ시도되고 있다. 또한 이러한 연구ㆍ보고된 위험성 평가 기법들을 프로그램화하고 적용하려는 시도가 많이 있어 왔다. 본 연구에서는 기존에 연구ㆍ개발된 위험성 평가 기법들에 최근 컴퓨터 산업의 발달에 힘입어 각광을 받고 있는 지리정보시스템을 적용하고자 한다. 이러한 가스산업시설의 위험성 평가 시스템은 위험성을 평가하기 위해서 필요한 여러 가지 정보들을 지리정보시스템이 속성 데이터로서 저장하고 있으나, 가스산업시설에 관련된 주변의 도면들을 공간 데이터로서 저장하고 있다. 그리고 위험성 평가 시스템의 세부적인 기능을 모듈화하였다. 우선 위에 언급한 속성 데이터와 공간 데이터를 관리하는 모듈과 이러한 데이터를 가지고 사고영향 범위를 산출해내기 위한 모듈, 그리고 산출된 사고 영향 범위를 도면에 나타내는 모듈로 나뉘어져 있다. 이렇게 지리정보시스템에 구축되어 있는 도면에 위험성을 평가한 결과치를 나타냄으로서 위험성 평가 숙련자가 아니더라도 위험성 평가를 할 수 있고 결과를 분석하도록 도와 줄 수 있도록 할 수 있다. 또한 향후 재난관리시스템에서는 도면상의 도로에 교통량 가중치와 인근 소방서와 경찰서등의 위치를 관리하도록 지리정보시스템을 적용할 수 있으면, 가스시설물 관리시스템에서는 최근 대형가스사고의 대부분이 타공사에 의한 것임을 고려하여 가스배관망을 포함하여 기타 다른 지하배관망을 관리하도록 지리정보시스템을 적용할 수 있다. DIAION WA30을 라세미화 촉매로 사용하여 아이소옥탄 내에서 라세믹 나프록센 2,2,2-트리플로로에틸 씨오에스터의 효소적 DKR 반응을 수행해 보았다. 그 결과 DIAION WA30을 사용하지 않은 경우에 비해 반응 전환율과 생성물의 광학 순도는 급격히 향상되었다. 전통적 광학분할 반응의 최대 50%라는 전환율의 제한이 본 연구에서 찾은 DIAION WA30을 첨가함으로써 성공적으로 극복되었다. 또한 고체 염기촉매인 DIAION WA30의 사용은 라세미화 촉매의 회수 및 재사용이 가능하게 해준다.해준다.다. Control of the CaCO3 Saturation Index Parameters for Protecting the Corrosion of Waterworks Pipe (상수도관 부식방지를 위한 탄산칼슘 포화지수(LI) 인자 제어에 관한 연구)

  • Calcium Carbonate Saturation Index (LI: Langelier Index), an indicator of $CaCO_3(s)$ saturation, indicates corrosiveness of drinking water and it has been used to monitor drinking water conditions in USA, E.U, and Japan. The objective of this research was to measure LI parameters including water temperature, pH, total alkalinity, calcium ion concentration, and electric conductivity, and to evaluate possibility of using LI in domestic system. Results showed that water temperature varied from 2.0 to $26^{\circ}C$ during 15 months, indicating an average annual temperature of $23.9^{\circ}C$. Total alkalinity was from 20 to 45 mg/L. The concentration difference between total alkalinity and $HCO_3{^-}$ value was hardly observed; the concentration of total alkalinity can be replaced by that of $HCO_3{^-}$. Tap water had a medium corrosiveness since LI values were from 2.0 to 0.5. To reduce the corrosiveness and to increase LI values of drinking water, the results of this study showed that chemicals such as $Ca(OH)_2$, $CaCO_3$, NaOH, or $NaHCO_3$ should be added to water treatment plants.

  • Development of Real-Time Quality Evaluation of Friction Welding by Acousitc Emission : Report 1 ABSTRACT : According as the friction welding has been increasingly applied in manufacturing various machine components because of its significant economic and technical advantages, one of the important concerns is the reliable quality monitoring method for a good weld quality with both joint strength and toughness in the process of its production. However no reliable nondestructive test method is available at present to determine the weld quality particularly in process of production. So this paper presents an experimental examination and quantitative analysis for the real-time evaluation of friction weld quality by acoustic emission, as a new approach which attempts finally to develop an on-line quality monitoring system design for friction welds using AE techniques. As one of the important results, it was confirmed, through this study, that AE techniques can be reliably applied to evaluating the friction weld qualify with 100% joint strength, as the cumulative AE counts occurring during welding period were quantitatively correlated with reliability at 95% confidence level to the joint strength of welds. Real-Time Evaluation of Automatic Production Quality Control for Friction Welding Machine : Report 2 Abstract : Both in-process quality control and high reliability of the weld is one of the major concerns in applying friction welding to the economical and qualified mass-production. No reliable nondestructive monitoring method is available at present to determine the real-time evaluation of automatic production quality control for friction welding machine. This paper, so that, presents the experimental examinations and statistical quantitative analysis of the correlation between the initial cumulative counts of acoustic emission(AE) occurring during plastic deformation period of the welding and the tensile strength of the welded joints as well as the various welding variables, as a new approach which attempts finally to develop an on-line (or real-time) quality monitoring system and a program for the process of real-time friction welding quality evaluation by initial AE cumulative counts. As one of the important results, it was well confirmed that the initial AE cumulative counts were quantitatively and cubically correlated with reliability of 95% confidence level to the joint strength of the welds, bar-to-bar (SCM4 to SUM31, SCM4 to SUM24L) and that an AE technique using initial AE counts can be reliably applied to real-time strength evaluation of the welded joints, and that such a program of the system was well developed resulting in practical possibility of real-time quality control more than 100% joint efficiency showing good weld with no micro-structural defects.

X-ray Analys is of the Thermotropic Liquid Crystalline Copolyester Poly(1 -phenylethylpphenylene-tere phthalate) (열방성 액정폴리에스터Poly(1-phenylethyl.p-phenyleneterephthalate)의 X-선 결정구조해석)

  • X-ray methods have been used to determine the chain conformation and packing of the thermotropic liquid crystalline copolyester prepared from 50% tarephthaloyl chloride(TPA) and 50% (1-phenylethyl) hydroquinone(PEHQ). The x-ray patterns of annealed melt-spun fibers contain a series of annealed melt-Pointing to a well ordered crystalline structure, despite the random sense(2 or 3-) of the 1-phenylethyl substiuttion on the TPA-hydroquinone backbone. The crystalline fiber is monoclinic with space group P2l and the unit cell has dimensions 11=12.77 A, b=10.17 A (upique axis), c=12.58 h (fiber axis). and β=90.1° and contains TPA-PEHO units of to or chains. The random substitution of 1-phenylethyl groups was modelled by placing these groups at both the 2and 3 positions and giving each a weight of one-hal(. T he structure has been refined by linked a rom least square methods(LALS) against 16 observed and 21 unobserved reflections. and had a final R value of 0.20. Packing of the side chains is effected by staggering adjacent chains along the b axis by approximately c/2, so that the side chains are interleaved. The phenyl-COO and COO-phenyl torsion angles are -6.1 and 65.6, respectively, such that the main chain phenyls are mutually inclined at 59.5 (the ester groups are assumed to be planar). These torsion angles compare very well with those for the model compounds, notably phenylbenzoate, and can be used in future analyses of the structures of more complex random sequence copolyesters.

Quality Characteristics of Defatted Rice Bran, Sansung Takju (Cloudy Korean Rice Wine) (탈지 미강 산성 탁주의 품질특성)

  • In this study, rice bran containing biologically active substances, including oryzanol and dietary fiber, Korean food industry was used in glutinous rice Takju(a cloudy Korean rice wine) fermentation. During fermented in rice wine, four different amounts of defatted rice bran(0, 3, 6, and 10g) were formulated in a recipe and fermentation characteristics, physicochemical properties, and sensory characteristics of product were analyzed. An increase in the amount of defatted rice bran was witnessed by heightened pH values in the fermentation period. The titratable acidity of sansung takju was increased with high levels of defatted rice bran. The titratable acidity of defatted rice bran takju during the fermentation period significantly was decreased, and then increased. FRAP radical-scavenging activity of TDT6 2.56 g/moL, compare with the control group, showed the highest reducing power. The results of the sensory evaluation showed that overall-acceptability had the highest scores in the sansung takju containing TDT3(3%) level of defatted rice bran. In conclusion, sansung takju added with TDT3(3%) of defatted rice bran is rated most prefrence in the four groups in this parts quality and acceptability.

Coated Wire Lead(Ⅱ) Ion-Selective Electrodes based on Crown Ethers (Crown Ether를 이용한 탐침형 납 이온선택성 전극)

  • Acryloylmethylbenzo-15-crown-5 was prepared from the reaction of 4'-hydroxymethylbenzo-15-crown-5 with acryloyl chloride. And, poly(acryloylmethylbenzo-15-crown-5) [poly(AMB15C5)] was synthesized by radical polymerization using AIBN as initiator in benzene. Coated wire lead(II) ion-selective electrodes ($Pb^{2+}$-CWISEs) using either poly(AMB15C5) or B15C5 as neutral carrier were prepared, respectively. $Pb^{2+}$-CWISEs gave linear responses with slopes of 28$\pm$ 1mV per decade within the concentration range of $10^{-5} M{\sim}10^{-1}$ M, respectively. Also, the detection limits were $10^{-6}$ M and response times were either 3 or 5 min. for B15C5 and poly(AMB15C5), respectively. $Pb^{2+}$-CWISE base on B15C5 was rather unstable than poly(AMB15C5)'s due to solubility of the B15C5 in water. The selectivity coefficients of a variety of interfering ions such as $Mg^{2+},\; Ca^{2+},\; Co^{2+},\; Ni^{2+},\; Cu^{2+},\; Zn^{2+}$ and $Cd^{2+}$ were small ($10^{-4}{\sim}10^{-5}$), while those of $Na^+$ and $K^+$ were large (0.1∼0.01). In addition, the electrode responses depended upon the pH of test solution and the composition of the membrane. In the range pH 3∼6 of test solution, potentials of Pb2+-CWISEs were hardly changed. The optimal contents of B15C5 and poly(AMB15C5) were 7.7 wt% and 13.1 wt%, respectively.

Colorimetric Properties and Color Sensibility Factors for Naturally Dyed Fabrics by Microbial Prodiginine Colorant (미생물 유래 Prodiginine 색소로 천연염색한 직물의 색채특성 및 색채감성요인)

  • This study was carried out in order to investigate the colorimetric values, the color sensation and sensibility for naturally dyed fabrics with microbial prodiginine colorant and to find out the relationship among color sensation, color sensibility factors and colorimetric properties of them. Color sensation and sensibility of four different fabric stimuli coloring red purple by a microbial prodiginine colorant produced from Zooshikella sp. were subjectively evaluated by university students. The color sensibility for the naturally dyed fabrics was classified into four factors: 'pleasantness', 'gracefulness', 'characteristic' and 'relax'. Color sensibility factor 'pleasantness' was the dominant factor for the naturally dyed fabrics with microbial prodiginine colorant. All color sensibility factors showed a significant correlations with the color sensation and colorimetric properties of the dyed fabrics with prodiginine. There were showed significant relationships between the color sensibility factors and lightness $L^{\ast}$, color saturation $C^{\ast}$, $a^{\ast}$ and $b^{\ast}$. Also, color preference of the dyed fabrics with prodiginine was found to be influenced mainly by color sensibility factors.
