  • In this paper, we introduce the notion of f-derivations from a semilattice S to a lattice L, as a generalization of derivation and f-derivation of lattices. Also, we define the simple f-derivation from S to L, and research the properties of them and the conditions for a lattice L to be distributive. Finally, we prove that a distributive lattice L is isomorphic to the class $SD_f(S,L)$ of all simple f-derivations on S to L for every ${\wedge}$-homomorphism $f:S{\rightarrow}L$ such that $f(x_0){\vee}f(y_0)=1$ for some $x_0,y_0{\in}S$, in particular, $$L{\simeq_-}=SD_f(S,L)$$ for every ${\wedge}$-homomorphism $f:S{\rightarrow}L$ such that $f(x_0)=1$ for some $x_0{\in}S$.

  • Lilium cernum Komarvo. is an important endangered plant belonging to the family Liliaceae. A method was developed for the rapid micropropagation of L. cernum through plant regeneration from bulb scales explant-derived calli. The bulb scales segments were cultured on Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium supplemented with 0, 0.5, 1.0, $3.0mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$ kinetin and 0, 0.1, 0.5, $1.0mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$ NAA or 2,4-D for callus induction. In media with $0.5{\sim}3.0mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$ kinetin and $0.1{\sim}1.0mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$ NAA and 2,4-D, 95~100% of explants produced callus. They were then transferred to MS medium supplemented with various concentrations of NAA (0, 0.01, 0.05 and $1.0mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$) in combination with BA (0, 1.0 and $2.0mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$) for bulbet formation. Bulbet induction (78%), weight (468 mg) and size (15.5 mm) were obtained the highest on MS medium containing $2.0mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$ BA and $1.0mg{\cdot}L^{-1}$ NAA. In vitro frequency of plant regeneration was not significantly treated in strength of MS and sucrose concentration. Chlorophyll contents in 1/2MS with $50g{\cdot}L^{-1}$ sucrose treatments were higher than those in control and another treatment. This in vitro propagation protocol will be useful for conservation and mass propagation of this endangered plant.

  • 1. On the basis of the samples collected on the eastern coast of Koje-Do from May to September, 1969, studies have been made on the growth and the relationships between the carapace length and the body length, and between the carapace length and the body weight of Penaeus japonicus Bate. 2. The mean carapace length of P. japonicus was 51mm in May, 57mm in June, 47mm in July and 50mm in September respectively. 3. As a result of the present studies two populations of P. japonicus exist in waters around Koje-Do, namely the spring and fall spawning populations. 4. The relationship between the carapace length ($\iota$) and the body length(L) and between the carapace length and the body weight (W) are indicated by the following equations: May $$L=2.6544{\iota}+3.1258$$ $$W=1.892{\iota}^{1.9844}$$ June $$L=2.8659{\iota}+2.1796$$ $$W=1.082{\iota}^{2.4323}$$ July $$L=2.5840{\iota}+3.3090$$ $$W=1.290{\iota}^{2.3094}$$ September $$L=2.4234{\iota}+4.5775$$ $$W=1.599{\iota}^{2.1857}$$ 5. With regard to the relationships between the carapace length and the body length and between the carapace length and the body weight there is no significant difference between the populations spawning in June and September. 6. The relationships between the carapace length ($\iota$) and the body length (L) and between the carapace length and the body weight (W) for the samples cultured at three different localities are indicated by the following equations: Koje-do $$L=3.7738{\iota}+0.0805\;(r=0.934)$$ $$W=0.4690{\iota}^{3.0713}$$ Oma-do $$L=2.993{\iota}+1.6455\;(r=0.990)$$ $$W=0.6328{\iota}^{2.6579}$$ Kumdang-do $$L=3.2749{\iota}+0.9055\;(r=0.983)$$ $$W=0.5768{\iota}^{2.8076}$$ 7. During the larval stages the relationship between the body length (L) and the rearing day (D) is indicated by the following equations: Zoeal stages (1-3) L=0.1279D+0.2686 (r=0.979) Mysis (1) - Post larva (6) L=0.1697D+0.5634 (r=0.994) Post-larvs (7) - Post larvs (21) L=0.1344D+1.9501 (r=0.978)

  • The standardized activated sludge for the biodegradation test of anion surfactants has been produced from the collected microorganisms in the soil and the wastewaters treatment plant. The activated sludge was kept under control of the pH, dissolved oxygen, microorganisms and inoculated the basal medium flasks with LAS and LAS mixed with heavy metals [Cd(II), Cu(II), Zn(II)]. Based of results, the inhibition effect(%) of heavy metals in LAS biodegradation were 1. All 1% when LAS 30mg/l-Cd(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) 0.1mg/l, respectively 2. All 1${\sim}$10% when LAS 30mg/l-Cd(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) 1mg/l, respectively 3. All 10${\sim}$40% when LAS 30mg/l-Cd(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) 10mg/l, respectively 4. All 30${\sim}$65% when LAS 30mg/l-Cd(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) 100mg/l, respectively And toxicity order of heavy metals to the microorganisms in LAS biodegradation were Cd>Cu>Zn in low concentration(0.1${\sim}$1mg/l)and Cd>Zn>Cu in high concentration(10${\sim}$100mg/l).

  • The shoot tip and young leaf of Rhodiola sachalinensis were cultured to invest the plant growth regulator condition for callus induction, shoot and root regeneration. When the shoot tip was sterilized in 2.0% of NaOCl for 20min., the contamination rate was the lowest. And the survival rate of the culture material was good in carbenicillin 500mg/L treatment group. Callus was obtained from shoot tip and young leaf segments. NAA 0.1-1.0mg/L and 2,4-D 0.1-0.5mg/L alone treatment were shown to have a good response on callus induction from shoot tip culture. In the case of young leaf culture, NAA and 2,4-D 0.1-0.5mg/L alone treatment were good in callus induction. In culturing shoot tip NAA 0.5mg/L and BA 0.5mg/L, NAA1.0mg/L and BA 0.lmg/L combination treatment was good in shoot regeneration. The regenerated shoots were rooted on MS medium supplemented with NAA and BA combination treatment. Especially, NAA 1.0mg/L and BA 0.1mg/L combination treatment was effective for root regeneration.

  • In order to study regulation of rbcL gene expression, rbcL gene of chloroplast DNA (Cp DNA) from maize was cloned. Cp DNA was isolated from intact chloroplast and digested with BamHI. BamHI 9 fragment of Cp DNA containing rbcL gene was ligated to pUC19 and transformed into E. coli DH5a. This recombinant plasmid was named pRLYSl. pRLYSl was hybridized with a part of rbcL gene from rice and digested with restriction enzyme BamHI, HindIIl, and PstI. From these results, it was confirmed that pRLYS1 contains intact rbcL gene and orientation of BamHI 9 fragment of Cp DNA in pRLYS1 was determined.rmined.

  • In this study continuous alcohol fermentation of molasses by the recirculation system has investigated. After cultivation of yeast cells in the YPD medium with increasing the medium concentration from 10 to 183.5 g/l stepwisely, the fermentation medium was replaced by molasses. The maximum cell mass was 25 g/l, and the mean cell mass during the operation was 23.5g/1, which was 3.4 times higher compared with a conventional batch system. The optimum fermentation conditions with feeding molasses of 180 g/l were obtained when the fermentation was carried out at 500 rpm and at the dilution rate of 0.037 $h^{-1}$. Under these conditions we could safely operate the fermentor for 645 h without any trouble. The maximum alcohol productivity was 4.9 g$l\cdot h$ with an alcohol concentration of 53.9 g/l at the dilution rate of 0.091$h^{-1}$.

  • Effects of growth regulators(2,4-D, IAA, NAA, BA and kinetin) and chilling treatment on callus induction. embryogenesis and regeneration through anther cultures of B. falcatum L. were examined. Frequency of callus induction and embryogenesis was effectively increased by the treatment of chilling at 5$^{\circ}C$ for 10 days before anther inoculation. Optimal level of growth regulator for callus induction and embryogenesis from anther was 2,4-D 1.0 mg/L in Murashige and Skoog(MS) basal medium supplemented with 30 g/L sucrose, 8 g/L agar. Frequency of embryogenesis from anther derived callus was increased up to 48% or 45% by addition of IAA 0.1+ kinetin 1.0 mg/L of IAA 0.1+ BA 1.0 mg/L in MS medium, respectively, Optimal medium for obtaining green callus was MS basal supplemented with BA 1.0mg/L. Addition of auxins(IAA or NAA) inhibited the formation of green callus from anther derived callus.

  • Let $g(n,\;l_1,\;l_2,\;d,\;t,\;q)$ be the number of general4-regular graphs on n labelled vertices with $l_1+2l_2$ loops, d double edges, t triple edges and q quartet edges. We use inclusion and exclusion with five types of properties to determine the asymptotic behavior of $g(n,\;l_1,\;l_2,\;d,\;t,\;q)$ and hence that of g(2n), the total number of general 4-regular graphs where $l_1,\;l_2,\;d,\;t\;and\;q\;=\;o(\sqrt{n})$, respectively. We show that almost all general 4-regular graphs are 2-connected. Moreover, we determine the asymptotic numbers of general 4-regular graphs with given connectivities.
