Habit is the description of the outer appearance of a crystal. If the environment of a growing crystal affects its external shape without changing its internal structure, a different habit results. Crystal habit and the internal structure of a drug can affect bulk and physicochemical properties, which range from flowability to chemical stability. A polymorph is a solid crystalline phase of a given compound resulting from the possibility of at least two different arrangements of the molecules of that compound in the solid state. Chemical stability and solubility changes due to polymorphism can have an impact on a drug's bioavailability and its development program. During crystallization from a solution, crystals separating may consist of a pure component or be a molecular compound. Solvates are molecular complexes that have incorporated the crystallizing solvent molecule in their lattice. When the solvent incorporated in the solvate is water, it is called a hydrate. To distinguish solvates from polymorphs, which are not molecular compounds, the term pseudopolymorph is used. Identification of possible hydrate compounds is important since their aqueous solubilities can be significantly less than their anhydrous forms. Conversion of an anhydrous compound to a hydrate within the dosage form may reduce the dissolution rate and extent of drug absorption. An amorphous solid may be treated as a supercooled liquid in which the arrangement of molecules is random. Amorphous solids lack the three-dimensional long-range order found in crystalline solids. Since amorphous forms are usually of higher thermodynamic energy than corresponding crystalline forms, solubilities as well as dissolution rates are generally greater. A study on crystal form includes characterization of (l)crystal habit, (2)polymorphism, (3)pseudopolymorphism, (4)amorphous solid.
The nutlet morphology and pericarp structure of 14 taxa (4 taxa of the genus Glechoma and related taxa) were studied by light and scanning electron microscopy, and a detailed description of nutlet morphological features for all examined taxa is provided. The shape of the nutlet is ovate to elliptic. Its size is 1.36-3.83 mm in length and 0.80-2.65 mm in width. The largest one was found in Marmoritis rotundifolia, while the smallest one was in Agastache nepetoides. Three different surface types were recognized in the studied taxa based on differences in cell outline and cell boundary relief (rectangular, pitted, and ridged negative reticulate-cell). Three types of trichome (uni-cellular non-glandular trichome, multi-cellular non-glandular trichome, and peltate glandular trichome) were distributed in the nutlets. The pericarp is formed in three layers (i.e., exocarp, mesocarp, and endocarp including sclenchyma tissue), and the pericarp in the studied species is $39.0-237.5{\mu}m$ thick. The morphological and anatomical features (the nutlet shape, surface type, and trichome distribution) in the genus Glechoma and related taxa are described and discussed.
The purpose of this study was to compare in vitro interfacial relationship of restorations bonded with three self-etching primer adhesives and one self-etching adhesive. Class I cavity preparations were prepared on twenty extracted human molars. Prepared teeth were divided into four groups and restored with four adhesives and composites Clearfil SE $Bond/Clearfil^{TM}$ AP-X (SE), UniFil $Bond/UniFil^{\circledR}$ F (UF), FL $Bond/Filtek^{TM}$ Z 250 (FL) and Prompt $L-Pop/Filtek^{TM}$ Z 250 (LP) After storing in distilled water of room temperature for 24 hours, the specimens were vertically sectioned and decalcified. Morphological patterns between the enamel/dentin and adhesives were observed under SEM. The results of this study were as follows : 1. They showed close adaptation between enamel and SE, UF and FL except for LP. 2. The hybrid layer in dentin was $2{\;}\mu\textrm{m}$ thick in SE, $1.5{\;}\mu\textrm{m}$ thick in UF, and $0.4{\;}\mu\textrm{m}$ in both FL and LP. So, the hybrid layers of SE and UF were slightly thicker than that of FL and LP. 3. The lengths and diameters of resin tags in UF and FL were similar, but those of LP were slightly shorter and slenderer than those of SE. 4. The resin tags were long rod shape in SE, and funnel shape in other groups Within the limitations of this study, it was concluded that self-etching primer adhesives showed close adaptation on enamel. In addition, the thickness of hybrid layer ranged from $0.4-1.5{\;}\mu\textrm{m}$ between adhesives and dentin. The resin tags were long rod or funnel shape, and dimension of them was similar or different among adhesives.

Clean fire extinguishing agents refer to chemical that can replace Halon 1211 and Halon 1310 according to the Montreal Protocol fermented to protect the Earth's ozone layer. In Korea and abroad, system standardization and performance evaluation of clean fire extinguishing agents are being carried out. This paper proposes an optimal nozzle shape by modeling and numerical analysis of various nozzle shapes based on general clean fire extinguishing system. The ejection speed of the nozzle can be improved by studying three - dimensional modeling of the nozzle for two shapes, Type A and B. Flow analysis was performed on the two types of nozzles and the gas velocity and pressure distribution were measured with different nozzle diameters. It was confirmed that the jetting speed was changed at the nozzle outlet according to the number and diameter of the nozzle holes. The flow rate increased with increasing the pressure regardless of the nozzle hole diameter. Based on the results obtained from the experiment, the K-factor value was deduced. Finally, a nozzle with a 12-hole structure with a 5-mm nozzle hole was proposed.
This study was carried out in order to optimize the manufacturing condition of fried garlic flakes as well as to investigate the physicochemical properties of the flakes. Fried garlic flake samples were prepared as follows: garlic was sliced by a thickness of 1.5 mm, 2.0 mm, 2.5 mm, which were measured by a thickness gage. The samples were fried in vegetable oil under different temperatures of $140{\sim}150^{\circ}C$, $160{\sim}170^{\circ}C$ and $180{\sim}185^{\circ}C$. The compression strength depending on the height (h) was measured in order to find the thickness effect by the rheometer (force control: 50 N, h: 3.25 mm). Moreover, the sample with 1.5 mm thickness showed crisp phenomena of the split compared with the crush shape of the 2.0 mm and 2.5 mm thick samples. The result of strength for time dependence showed a sample with a thickness of 1.5 mm, which was measured 5~9 times more than the 2.0 mm and 2.5 mm thick samples. We thought the reason that the 1.5 mm sample had less response power equivalent to compression force than the other samples. Alliin has been found to affect the immune responses in the blood, it is a derivative of the amino acid cysteine and is also quite heat stable. The LC system with a UV detection at 210 nm consists of a separation on a Zorbax TMS column and isocratic elution with water and ACN as a mobile phase. The alliin contents of raw and fried garlic flake under $140{\sim}150^{\circ}C$, $160{\sim}170^{\circ}C$ and $180{\sim}185^{\circ}C$ were 18.10 mg/mL, 14.0 mg/mL, 11.6 mg/mL and 11.1 mg/mL, respectively. The decrement of alliin content under different temperature was a small quantity hence, we confirmed that the increasing manufacturing temperature was not affected by the alliin content. Examining for the particle structure of fried garlic flakes by a polarization microscope, the color of the sample treated at $160{\sim}170^{\circ}C$ was pure yellow. Furder, the fiber shaped particle, which has an effect on the tough texture, almost did not appear compared to the different temperature conditions. Finally, the sensory test for the preference of fried garlic flake under different conditions was carried out and the scores for various sensory characteristics were surveyed. According to the physicochemical measurements and sensory evaluation, we confirmed that the optimum manufacturing condition of fried garlic flake was 1.5 mm thick at a temperature of $160{\sim}170^{\circ}C$.
Pardosa astrigera possessed eight eyes arranged in three rows on the frontal carapace. A pair of small anterior lateral eyes (ALE) flanked each side by an anterior median eyes (AME) lay along the anterior margin that was situated on the anterior row of clypeus. The anterior lateral eye was composed of cornea, vitreous body, and retina. Cornea was made up mainly of exocuticle lining the cuticle. Lens in anterior lateral eye was biconvex type which bulged into the cavity of the eyecup. Outer and inner central region of lens were approximately spherical with radius of curvature $5.6{\mu}m$ and $12.5{\mu}m$, respectly. Vitreous body formed a layer between the cuticular lens and retina. They formed biconcave shape. Retina of the anterior lateral eyes was composed of three types of cells: visual cells, glia cells, and pigment cells. The visual cells were unipolar neuron, as were the receptor of the posterior lateral eye. But cell body was unique to the anterior lateral eyes. They were giant cell, relatively a few in number, and under the layer of vitreous bodies. Each visual cell healed rhabdomeres for a short stretch beneath the cell body. Rhabdomes were irregulary pattern in retina and electron dense pigment granules scattered between the rhabdomes. Glia cell situated at the cell body of visual cell and glia cell process reached to rhabdomere portion. Below the rhabdome, tapetum were about $30{\mu}m$ distance from lens, which composed of 4-5 layers. It was about $25{\mu}m$ length that intermediate segment of distal portion of visual cell. Electron dense pigment granules between the intermediate segment were observed.
Anatomical features of both leaves and stems of the four mistletoes in Korea (Viscum album var. coloratum, Korthalsella japonica, Loranthus yadoriki, L. tanaka) and of their secondary haustorial structure within several host plants were investigated. Among the four mistletoes, there were diagnostic characters of the anatomy of leaves and stems which enabled us to distinguish the four taxa. Leaves were observed to have three distinct characters including unifacial or bifacial leaves, the number of vascular bundles in the midveins, and the level of development of sclerenchyma cells. There were four diagnostic characters of stems: overall morphology of stems in transverse view, degree of cuticle development, arrangement of vascular bundles, and features of the sclerenchyma and pith. In order to determine secondary haustorial traits, the research focused on the seven host plants of L. yadoriki and on the five host plants of K. japonica. The following features were found to be important: presence or absence of an aerial runner root, the shape of the haustorial strand and flange, the degree of penetration into host tissues, and their development of shaft in transverse view, the development both of secondary haustorial cells and short tracheid in hyphae. Korthalsella japonica and L. yadorki were clearly distinguished by these characters. The secondary haustorial forms in each host were somewhat different, due to varying degrees of development in the strength of the host plants' wood. However, qualitative characters like the final position of the secondary haustorial penetration into host tissues and the development of short tracheid cells were not only affected by the degree of development of the host plants, but also useful for the systematic study.

Biodegradable polymers have been used extensively as scaffolding materials to regenerate new tissues and the ingrowth of tissue have been reported to be dependent directly of the porosity, pore diameter, pore shape, and porous structure of the scaffold. In this study, porous poly (L-lactide-co-glycolide) (PLGA) scaffolds with five different pore sizes were fabricated to investigate the effect of pore sizes for AF tissue regeneration. Cellular viability and proliferation were assayed by MTT test. Hydroxyproline/DNA content of AF cells on each scaffold was measured. sGAG analyses were performed at each time point of 2 and 6 weeks. Scaffold seeded AF cells were implanted into the back of athymic nude mouse to observe the difference of formation of disc-like tissue depending on pore size in vivo. We confirmed that scaffold with $180{\sim}250{\mu}m$ pores displayed high cell viability in vitro and produced higher ECM than scaffold with other pore sizes in vivo.

Tremex fuscicornis (Siricidae), known as the xylophagous horntail, and Leucospis japonica (Leucospidae), known as the parasitoid wasp, are wood-boring wasps belonging to the order Hymenoptera. These insects are interesting sources of biological inspiration for the development of drilling mechanisms. To study the biomimicry aspects, the morphological characters of the ovipositor of T. fuscicornis and L. japonica were analyzed using a stereoscopic microscope, a field emission scanning electron microscope, and an optical microscope. There were many differences in the ovipositors between the two species, such as shape, length, surface structure, and arrangement of the teeth. Evenly arranged teeth were developed at the tip of both the dorsal valve and the ventral valve of the ovipositor of T. fuscicornis and looked like a rotating drill bit. In contrast, in L. japonica, the teeth, which looked like a saw, were found only on the ventral valve. Moreover, the tip of the ovipositor of T. fuscicornis was symmetrically divided into four parts, while that of L. japonica was divided into three parts having a 2:1:1 ratio. However, in the case of T. fuscicornis, after the 14th tooth, four parts melded into three parts maintaining a 2:1:1 ratio, and a dovetail joint was found on the horizontal cross-section of the ovipositor that allowed vertical movement for making a hole. These morphological differences of the ovipositor may be due to the insects' lifestyles and phylogenetic distance. Finally, zinc was commonly found at the tip of the ovipositors of both species, a probable result of ecological adaptation created by drilling wood.

In this paper, the miniaturized the linear polarization and the circular polarization microstrip antennas, which are the two ends in the resonance length direction or all the four-ends were folded are designed and fabricated at the resonant frequency of 1.575 GHz(fur GPS system). For the linear polarization microstrip antenna, the antenna was bent. downward so that the visible length(=L) was reduced by $31.7\%(\varepsilon_r=1.06)$. The folded antenna was folded toward the center of the antenna once again. In this case, the visible length reduction rate, gain, -10 dB bandwidth, E-plane and H-plane HPBW were $73.9\%$, 5.12 dBd, $64MHz(4\%),\;151^{\circ}\;and\;79.2^{\circ}$, respectively. For the circular polarization microstrip antenna, the folded structure of the linear polarization antenna was applied to all the few directions. For the most efficiency the folded bottom surfaces were designed in a triangular shape. In this case, the visible area reduction rate, gain, -10 dB bandwidth, and HPBW in horizontal polarization of the z-x plane and the z-y plane were $71.5\%,\;3.96dBd,\;84MHz(5.3\%),\;80.6^{\circ}\;and\;82.1^{\circ}$, respectively. Therefore, we have confirmed that the folded structure is suitable fer the miniaturization of the microstrip antenna.
