This paper addresses an efficient loop filter algorithm to improve visual quality by simultaneously reducing blocking and ringing artifacts in H.26L video coder. H.26L video coding standard using the different coding mechanism to existing video coding standards has different distribution of blocking and ringing artifacts that is dependent on coding type, quantization step size, and motion vector. Therefore, the information is used to define the filter type and the filter coefficients. and a projection operator is defined to avoid the over-smoothness. In addition, in order to avoid over-smoothing coming from filtering processing, a constraint projection operator is defined. Since the above information is available both in encoder and in the decoder, a loop filter is used, and the algorithm is simplified to reduce the computational cost. Experimental results show the capability of the proposed algorithm.
We developed a novel polarization filter to separate linearly polarized waves from elliptically polarized waves in an infinite homogeneous medium and at the free surface using methods of multicomponent complex trace analysis. Sensitivity to filter parameters were examined using synthetic data simulating particle motions in a homogeneous medium. For known amplitude ratios of horizontal-to-vertical components of P and Rayleigh waves $C_L$ and $C_R$, respectively, the polarization filter precisely removes Rayleigh waves. Errors in the vertical and horizontal components of the filtered results increase with the ratio $C_R$/$C_L$ and the product $C_R$.$C_L$, respectively. The vertical component errors also increase rapidly as the ratios of applied-to-modeled values of $C_L$ and $C_R$ ($C_L'$/$C_L$ and $C_R'$/$C_R$) decrease, and are sensitive to $C_R'$/$C_R$ and $C_L'$/$C_L$ for small and large incidence angles, respectively. Errors of the filter are exactly the same for shear waves when the incidence angle is the supplementary of P-wave incidence angle.

In order to obtain knowledge on the design and operation of practical?scale Cylinder-Shaped Filters, pilot experiments were conducted to observe the effects of stepwise augmentation of production rate on water quality and clogging. A production rate increase from 0.8 L/min to 2.4 L/min did not appear to affect the removal efficiencies of BOD(Biochemical Oxygen Demand), SS(Suspended Solids), and turbidity, as the values were maintained around 80%, over 95%, and over 90% respectively;however, COD(Chemical Oxygen Demand) removal decreased from 44% to 29%. In addition, results indicated an inverse relationship between production rate and detention time required to remove unit contaminant concentration, the observed detention time in the filter to remove 1 mg-COD/L being 83 minutes for the production rate of 0.8 L/min and 45 minutes for the production rate of 2.4 L/min, suggesting that a relatively higher production rate is likely to be more advantageous in the purification of reservoir water when compared to a lower production rate. Clogging was observed to originate from the surface and advance to the center of the filter, and although clogging seemed to increase as the production rate increased, this did not cause any difficulties in normal functioning of the filter for more than 2 years of operation, suggesting that this filter system can be used effectively in the purification of reservoir water.
The purpose of this study is to predict the reflection distance following to the pulsing pressure, total air supplying, filter bag size using numercial analysis techniques and use it as an efficient operation condition and economic data for off-line type pulse air jet bag filter. In this research, filtration area 6 m2 condition, calculate filter resistance coefficient for simulation through the main experiments using coke dust. Ansys fluent V19.0 apply to CFD simulation, and analysis pulsing characteristics about pulsing pressure, filtration velocity and nozzle diameter. The maximum reflecting distance of off-line type pulse air jet bag filter is 1,000 mm regardless of total air supplying at over the 42 L/m2 conditions, that indicates off-line type can extend filter bag length 1,000 mm than on-line type. In order to effective primary and secondary pulsing of off-line type pulse air jet bag filter, over the 5 bar of pulsing pressure and over the 42 L/m2 of total air supplying are needed.
Power system fault transient signals are highly distorted due to the presence of high frequency components in the voltage and current signals and an exponentially decaying dc-offset component in the current signals. Modern protective relays have to make reliable fast decisions about the nature of a fault in the presence of such transients. To use a dc-offset removing filter makes relay algorithms much fast and reliable for detecting a fault. In this paper, several dc-offset removing filters are described, and characteristics of them are compared.
X-ray quality is identified numerically by half value layer(H.V.L) and the HVL is affected by the kVp and the amount of filtration in the useful beam. X-ray quality evaluated by H.L.D is influenced by kVp and filtration. Author had several experiments with phantom in diameter of 8 cm normal adult chest, for reduction of radiation dose of the patients in diagnostic radiology and got some results. 1. H.V.L is increased the thicker the filter and the higher the kVp. 2. If the kVp is increased from 60 to 120, the skin dose can be reduced as 34%(Skin dose of 60 kVp with 4 mmAl filter : 100%). 3. If the 4 mmAl filter with 60 kVp is added to x-ray tube, skin dose can be reduced as 23% than no filter. 4. Therefore high kVp and filtration can increase output to input dose ratio and 120 kVp and 4 mmAl filter were most effective for reduction of patient dose in chest radiography.

In most grid-connected inverters (GCI) with an LCL filter, since the design of both the LCL filter and the controller is done separately, considerable tuning efforts have to be exerted when compared to inverters using an L filter. Consequently, an integrated co-design of the filter and the controller for an LCL-type GCI is proposed in this paper. The control strategy includes only a PI current controller and a proportional grid voltage feed-forward controller. The capacitor is removed from the LCL filer and the design procedure starts from an L-type GCI with a PI current controller. After the PI controller has been settled, the capacitor is added back to the filter. Hence, it introduces a resonance frequency, which is identified based on the crossover frequencies to accommodate the preset PI controller. Using the proposed co-design method, harmonic standards are satisfied and other practical constraints are met. Furthermore, the grid voltage feed-forward control can bring an inherent damping characteristic. In such a way, the good control performance offered by the original L-type GCI and the sharp harmonic attenuation offered by the latter designed LCL filter can be well integrated. Moreover, only the grid current and grid voltage are sensed. Simulation and experimental results verify the feasibility of the proposed design methodology.
A combination of the submerged membrane activated-sludge bioreactor(SMABR) equipped with non-woven fabric filter and oyster-zeolite (OZ) packed-bed adsorption column was studied to evaluate the advanced tertiary treatment of nitrogen and phosphorous. The non-woven filter module was submerged in the MBR and aeration was operated intermittently for an optimal wastewater treatment performance. Artificial wastewater with $COD_{Cr}$ of 220 mg/L, total nitrogen (T-N) of 45 mg/L, and total phosphorous (T-P) of 6 mg/L was used in this study. MLSS was maintained about $4,000\;{\sim}\;5,000\;mg/L$ throughout the experiments. The experiments were performed for 100-day with periodic non-woven filter washing. The results showed that $COD_{Cr}$ could be effectively removed in SMABR alone with over 94% removal efficiency. However, T-N and T-P removal efficiency was slightly lower than expected with SMABR alone. The permeate from SMABR was then passed through the OZ column for tertiary nutrients removal. The final effluent analysis confirmed that nutrients could be additionally removed resulting in over 87% and 46% removal efficiencies for T-N and T-P, respectively. The results of this study suggest that the waste oyster-shell can be effectively reclaimed as an adsorbent in advanced tertiary wastewater treatment processes in combination with SMABR equipped with non-woven fabric filter.

Filtration experiments were conducted to determine the characteristics of manganese removal in filtration using 4 different filter media including sand and manganese sand(MS). Filtration velocity was 123 m/d and the flow rate was $3.9m^3/d$ per column. Duration of these experiments was about one year, and manganese dioxide accumulation, turbidity removal, manganese removal, and organic material removal were examined depending on filter media. When filter influent(residual chlorine 1.0 mg/L) with an average manganese concentration of 0.208 mg/L was fed through a filter column, the sand+MS and MS columns removed 98.9% and 99.2% of manganese respectively on an annual basis. When there is need to replace the sand filters with a MS filter to remove manganese, it was shown that the replacement of a partial sand filter with MS had adequate manganese removal.
In this paper, we designed and fabricated the lowpass filter with the wide stopband characteristics using microp- strip line. Adding the $\lambda_g/4$ open stub at the input and output ports, we developed the L-C ladder type lowpass filter using the open stub which has wide stopband characteristics. In order to reduce the entire size qf this filter, the high impedance microstrip lines were made with the meander structure. The lowpass filter was fabricated with the cutoff frequency 2.3 GHz and its measured frequency responses agree well with the simulation results.
