Lactic Acid Fermentation of Soymilk by Mixed Cultures of Lactobacillus bulgaricus and Kluyveromyces fragilis (Lactobacillus bulgaricus 와 Kluyveromyces fragilis의 혼합배양에 의한 두유의 젖산발효)

  • Lactobacillus bulgaricus (KFCC 35463) and Kluyveromyres fragilis (KFCC 35458) were inoculated together in soymilk, and then growth characteristics, acid production and the conditions suitable for acid production were investigated. L. bulgaricus produced more acid and the rate of acid production was more rapid when this organism was incubated with K. fragilis in soymilk than when it was incubated singly. Studying the conditions suitable for acid production in soymilk, optimum acid production by the mixed cultures of L. bulgaricus and K. fragilis was achieved with a temperature of $35{\sim}37^{\circ}C$, a 1:2 (O.D.660) ratio of L. bulgaricus to K. fragilis at inoculum, a 1.0% level of sucrose fortification or a 1.5% level of skim milk powder fortification and a culture time of 24hr. Under these conditions the amount of acid produced by the single culture of L. bulgaricus and the mixed cultures of L. bulgaricus and K. fragilis were 0.14% and 0.41%, respectively, in soymilk, 0.13% and 0.70%, respectively, in soymilk fortified with 1.0% level of sucrose. These indicate that the amount of acid produced by mixed cultures is about 2.9-fold greater in soymilk and about 5.4-fold greater in soymilk fortified with 1.0% level of sucrose than that produced by the single culture of L. bulgaricus. The amount of acid produced in soymilk fortified with 1.5% level of skim milk powder was 0.84% level for both of the single culture of L. bulgaricus and the mixed cultures of L. bulgaricus and K. fragilis after 24hr incubation. However, the amount of acid produced by the mixed culture with K. fragilis was greater than that produced by the single culture of L. bulgaricus onlv in soymilk fortified with lower levels of skim milk powder than 1.5%.

  • S-adenosyl-L-homocysteine(AdoHcy) is the product of all biological methylation in which S-adenosyl-L-methionine (AdoMet) is utilized as a methyl donor and is reversibly hydrolyzed to L-homocysteine and adenosine by AdoHcy hydrolase physiologically. Inhibition of this enzyme results in intracelluar accumulation of AdoHcy leading to a feedback inhibition of AdoMet-dependent methylation reactions which are essential for viral replication.   • A numerical study has been performed to investigate two dimensional natural convection heat transfer in a rectangular enclosure with heat sources of constant temperature at the bottom. Calculations were made for various dimensionless heat source lengths, W/L=0.1-0.5, and positions of heat sources at $Gr=2.57{\times}10^6$, Pr=0.71 and Ks/Kf=28.98. For various positions of heat sources, the maximum local Nusselt numbers generally show X=0.81-0.85 at the bottom and X=0.23 at the top. For various dimensionless heat source lengths, the maximum local Nusselt numbers at the bottom show W/L=0.4 for one heat source, W/L=0.2 for two heat sources with fixed centers, W/L=0.5 for two heat sources with moved centers. Finally the maximum heat transfer at the bottom exhibits in condition of W/L=0.4 for two heat sources with moved centers.

오미자추출물의 Listeria Monocytogenes에 대한 항균효과

  • To development food preservative, antimicrobial activities of Schizandra chinensis (SC) against Listeria monocytogenes Scott A, L. monocytogenes Brie I and L. monocytogenes ATCC 19111 were investigated. The growth of L. monocytogenes Scott A, L. monocytogenes Brie I and L. monocytogenes ATCC 19111 was inhibited apparently in Tryptic Soy Broth (TSB) containing 1% SC at 35$\circ$C and it was found that these had antibacterial effects against a broad spectrum of pathogenic bacteria such as S. aureus ATCC 29737, B. subtilis KCTC 1021, E. coli ATCC 11775. The growth of L. monocytogenes was also inhibited about 3 to 5 log$_{10}$ cycle by 0.1% of three fractions of the alcohol extract such as ether, ethyl acetate and butanol. Acidic, weakly acid and neutral fraction of ether fraction showed inhibitory properties against L. monocytogenes.

  • Desalination technology is a process to remove salt from water. There are three classified In accordance with the concentration of salt The concentration of sea water 15,000~50,000mg/l, brackish water 1,500~15,000mg/l, desalination less than 500mg/l.. In general, salt to remove for using a pre-treatment UF filter, but this study is new pre-treatment technology RO Membrane process technology Suspended particulate matter is said most were treated at the pre-treatment equipment, wheat affluent particulate material was removed from the MF filter. Influent SS 16.2mg /l The treatment was effective in treatment 0.05mg /l of 99% is removed. COD is reduced to 60% in the pre-treatment device, after treatment was reduced to 30% RO membrane. Influent COD 10.2mg/l treatment was removed 1.9mg/l. The removal rate is 81.9%. Desalination removes the ionic substances in the RO Membrane. Influent EC $978.8{\mu}s/cm$ and treatment showed a result of $18.7{\mu}s/cm$.

  • Recently, many technologies of the P.L.C (Power Line Carrier) are introduced for an efficient communication. P.L.C communication sends information in the carrier signals by conduction over the power wire. An arc detector is proposed in this paper for the effective transmission. The Power Line Carrier has an advantage in low cost because it uses existent power line. It can be easily applied anywhere that a power line socket is available. But the P.L.C. is very noisy, because many electronic devices in generate electronic noise in modulated signals. This problem should be considered carefully in the design of the arc detector system using P.L.C in railway. The proposed system can be applied for monitoring the arc detector system and the arc locator system in railway. Hence the system will be able to exchange the arc information to be T.C.M.S. (Train Control Management System), bogies and even between a station and trains in railway and use to suspicion fire in train.

En $v{\acute{e}}rit{\acute{e}}$ pour Kierkegaard, bien que le salut $lui-m{\hat{e}}me$ sera donner par la foi, le principe de cet amour est l'unique vertu qui ammene l'homme vers la foi et vers le salut. C'est pourquoi son ${\acute{e}}thique$ est essentiellement s'apparaît 'une ${\acute{e}}thique$ de l'amour', et la recherche sur cet amour, son principe et son aspect reste comme uneque $t{\hat{a}}che$ de $l^{\prime}{\acute{e}}thique$.

Derivation of Snyder's Synthetic Unit Hydrograph Using Fractal Dimension (프랙탈 차원을 이용한 스나이더 합성단위유량도 관계식 유도)

  • The Snyder's synthetic unit hydrograph method is selected to apply the concept of the fractal dimension by stream order for the practicable rainfall-runoff generation, and fourth types of the Snyder's relation are derived from topographic and observed unit hydrograph data of twenty-nine basins. As a result of the analysis of twenty-nine basins and the verification of two basins, the Snyder's relation which considers the fractal dimension of the stream length and uses calculated unit hydrograph data shows the best result. The concept of the fractal dimension by stream order is applied to the Snyder's synthetic unit hydrograph method. The topographic factors, used in the Snyder's synthetic unit hydrograph method, which have a property of the stream length like $L_{ma}$ (mainstream length) and $L_{ca}$ (length along the mainstream to a point nearest the watershed centroid) were considered. In order to simplify the fractal property of stream length, it is supposed that $L_{ma}$ has not the fractal dimension and the stream length between $L_{ma}$ and ($L_{ma}\;-\;L_{ca}$) has the fractal dimension of 1.027. From the utilization of this supposition, a new Snyder's relation which consider the fractal dimension of the stream length occurred by the map scale used was finally suggested.

A Microbial Consortium for the Bioremediation of Sulfate-Rich Wastewater Originating from an Edible Oil Industry

  • The effluents from industries processing vegetable oils are extremely rich in sulfates, often exceeding the maximum concentration allowed to release them to the environment. Biological sulfate reduction is a promising alternative for the removal of sulfates in this type of wastewater, which has other particularities such as an acidic pH. The ability to reduce sulfates has been widely described for a particular bacterial group (SRB: sulfate-reducing bacteria), although the reports describing its application for the treatment of sulfate-rich industrial wastewaters are scarce. In this work, we describe the use of a natural SRB-based consortium able to remove above 30% of sulfates in the wastewater from one of the largest edible oil industries in Peru. Metataxonomic analysis was used to analyse the interdependencies established between SRB and the native microbiota present in the wastewater samples, and the performance of the consortium was quantified for different sulfate concentrations in laboratory-scale reactors. Our results pave the way towards the use of this consortium as a low-cost, sustainable alternative for the treatment of larger volumes of wastewater coming from this type of industries.
