Facility Location Problem for Blood Logistics Center (혈액 물류센터 위치 선정 문제)

  • This paper suggests the optimal blood distribution center algorithm that satisfies the minimum total transportation cost and within the allowable distribution time $T^*$. Zhang and Yang proposes shifting the location of each point that has less than the average distance of two maximum distance points from each point. But they cannot decide the correct facility location because they miscompute the shortest distance. This algorithm computes the shortest distance $l_{ij}$ from one area to another areas. Then we select the $v_i$ area to thecandidate distribution center location such that $_{max}l_{ij}{\leq}L^*$ and the $v_i$ such that $l_{ij}-L^*$ area that locates in ($v_i,v_k$) and ($v_j,v_l$) from $P_{ij}=v_i,v_k,{\cdots},v_l,v_j$ path and satisfies the $_{max}l_{ij}{\leq}L^*$ condition. Finally, we decide the candidate distribution area that has minimum transportation cost to optimal distribution area.

Antipathogenic Activity of Lactobacillus plantarum Isolated from Pickled Mulberry Leaf (뽕잎 장아찌로부터 분리된 Lactobacillus plantarum 균주의 유해균 증식 억제 활성)

  • Strains of lactic acid bacteria were isolated from a variety of fermented foods collected in Korea. The strain L2167 showed a strong antipathogenic activity against Bacillus cereus, Listeria monocytogenes, Salmonella Typhimurium, Staphylococcus aureus, and Staphylococcus epidermidis. L2167 was identified as Lactobacillus plantarum by sequence analysis of its 16S rRNA gene. Scanning electron microscopy revealed rough and wrinkled morphology of B. cereus, L. monocytogenes, S. Typhimurium, S. aureus, and S. epidermidis cell membranes after treatment with a crude cell extract of L. plantarum L2167, indicating that Lactobacillus plantarum L2167 might destroy the cell membrane of pathogenic bacteria. The optimal temperature and initial medium pH for Lactobacillus plantarum L2167 growth were 35℃ and 5.5, respectively. Lactobacillus plantarum L2167 was more sensitive to NaCl than Lactobacillus plantarum KCTC21004, used as a control strain. Lactobacillus plantarum L2167 is expected to be developed as a prominent starter strain for efficient inhibition of growth of pathogens.

A Study on the Anti-Oxidation Effects of Menthae Herba (I) (부하(溥荷)의 항산화효능(抗酸化效能)에 대한 연구 (I))

  • Objectives : In order to develop effective and safe anti-oxidation, the effects of Menthae Herba (M. spicata L. and M piperita L.) were examined. Methods : M. spicata L. and M. piperita L. of Menthae Herba were used to make water extracts and methanol extracts, and then its anti-oxidative effects were compared in vitro. Results : 1. M. spicata L. was stronger than M. piperita L. in anti-oxidative effects of methanol extracts, and water extracts showed similar anti-oxidation effects. 2. Water extracts of M. spicata L. was stronger than M. piperita L. showed a stronger superoxide anit-oxidation than the same-density ascorbic acid, so that water extracts were proved to be stronger than methanol extracts. 3. Methanol extracts' DPPH anti-oxidation was similar in M. spicata L. and M piperita L.. As for water extracts, M. spicata L. showed higher anti-oxidation and M. piperita L. had no anti-oxidation. 4. As for anti-oxidation of LDL and linoleic acid of methanol extracts, both M. spicata L. and M. piperita L. were stronger than a-tocopherol. As for the water extracts, these two showed similar level of anti-oxidative effect on linoleic acid, which is weaker that mehtanol extracts. 5. M. spicata L. includes more phenol than M. piperita L. Conclusions : Menthae Herba (M. piperita L. M. spicata L.) had anti-oxidation effect, so that it can be medically developed for anti-oxidation.

  • The effects of acute of marine toxicants on early life of coastal olive flounder were investigated. An increasing order of acute toxicity on embryo- and larva-stages of Paralichtys olivaceus was CdCl2$\mu\textrm{g}$/L and 29 $\mu\textrm{g}$/L, respectively, and those values at larva-stage were estimated 3.5 ng/L, 16.0 nL/L, 10.5 $\mu\textrm{g}$/L and 15.0 $\mu\textrm{g}$/L, respectively.

칼슘락테이트가 반죽발효와 빵의 품질 및 저장성에 미치는 영향

  • 다슬기분말(PSB)과 그 회분(ASB)으로 제조한 칼슘락테이트(PCaL 및 ACaL)를 0.5%씩 첨가한 반죽의 발효와 빵의 품질 및 저장성에 미치는 영향을 조사하였다. 반죽의 pH는 4.85~4.98로 ACaL.PCaL.대조군의 순으로 나타났다. 반죽의 부피와 빵의 loaf volume index는 대조군이 높았고 ACaL 첨가군이 낮았으며, pH를 5.50으로 조정하여 제조한 반죽의 부피와 빵의 loaf volume은 대조군과 큰 차이를 보이지 않았다. PCaL 및 ACaL을 첨가한 빵의 Ca함량은 29.4~29.7 mg/100 g-f.w로 대조군의 13.0 mg/100 g-f.w에 비하여 높았으며, 첨가군의 미량 무기질로 Mg, Fe, Zn이 0.03~0.98 mg/100 g-f.w 범위로 검출되었다. 빵의 L$^{*}$ 값은 대조군과 실험군의 유의적인 차이가 없었으며, a*값, b*값은 PCaL 첨가군이 가장 높아 황갈색을 띄었다. 빵의 hardness, gumminess는 대조군$^{\circ}C$ 실온에 두면서 저장한 결과 대조군은 3일째부터, ACaL 첨가군은 5일째부터, PCaL 첨가군은 6일째부터 곰팡이가 번식하였다.

  • The effects of nutritional sources on growth of Pseudomonas sp. P2 were investigated in medium containing biphentyl as a carbon source. To determine characterization of Pseudomonas sp. P2, the incubation time was determined to 100 h of the log phase in the growth curve. The optimal compositions for the growth of Pseudomonas sp. P2 degrading polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) were 1000 mg/L $NH_4NO_3$, 1000mg/L KH_2PO_4$, 100mg/L MgSO_4$.$7H_2O$, 30mg/L $CaCl_2$.$2H_2O$, 200mg/L NaCl, and 10mg/L $FeSO_4$.$7H_2O$. Pseudomonas sp. P2 showed the degradability of 59.3%, 57.6%, 51.4%, and 48.7% at 500mg/L, 1000mg/L, 1500mg/L, and 2000mg/L of the PCBs within insulating oil after 100 h incubation under the optimum conditions, respectively.

Plant Regeneration from Leaf Segments Culture of Several Jeju Native Lilies (잎절편 배양에 의한 제주 자생나리의 재분화)

  • This study was conducted to examine the effects of plant growth regulators on the plant regeneration from leaf segments of Lilium callosum, L. concolor var. partheneion, and L. formosanum. Leaf segments were sectioned about 5 mm long and cultured on the basal medium (MS medium with $3\%$ sucrose and $0.8\%$ agar) under dark condition, The most effective plant regulators on harvesting more shoots from leaf culture of L. callosum were $0.2\;mg{\cdot}L^{-1}\;BA$ and $0.5\;mg{\cdot}L^{-1}\;NAA$. Culturing in the basal medium with $0.2\;mg{\cdot}L^{-1}\;BA$ and $2.0\;mg{\cdot}L^{-1}\;NAA$ was effective for leaf culture of L. concolor var. partheneion. The treatment of $1.0\;mg{\cdot}L^{-1}\;BA$ and $1.0\;mg{\cdot}L^{-1}\;NAA$ was the most effective condition for shoot harvest at the leaf culture of L. formosanum.

Selection of organic Nitrogen Source and Optimization of Culture Conditions for the Production of Arachidonic Acid from Mortierella alpina (Mortierella alpina를 이용한 아라키돈산의 생산에서 유기질소원의 선정과 배양 조건의 최적화)

  • Experiments were carried out to select an organic nitrogen source and optimize the culture conditions for the production of arachidonic acid by Mortierella alpina DSA-12. Corn steep powder(CSP) was selected as an organic nitrogen source based on arachidonic acid production and raw material price. The optimum C/N ratio was in the range of 15 to 17 with the medium containing glucose as carbon source and CSP as nitrogen source. The optimum culture conditions for arachidonic acid production showed 500 rpm agitation and 25$^{\circ}C$ culture temperature at 0.5 vvm aeration. Under the optimum conditions, the concentration of cell, total lipid and arachidonic acid were 21.8 g/L, 10.2 g/L and 3.70 g/L, respectively, from 50 g/L glucose and 18 g/L CSP. In the 500 L fermenter with 0.5 vvm aeration and 200 rpm agitation, the concentration of cell, total lipid and arachidonic acid were 19.8 g/L, 9.1 g/L and 3.67 g/L, respectively, from 50 g/L glucose and 18 g/L CSP. This result showed that an arachidonic acid production could be possible with a bench-scale fermenter using corn steep powder as a nitrogen source.

Comparison of three analytical methods for PCBs-containing liquid wastes (폴리염화비페닐류 함유 액상폐기물 시험방법별 분석결과 비교)

  • This study was performed to compare the analytical results among L2000DX and two GC/ECD methods (rapid and conventional). 15 samples of transformer oils were collected to compare the analytical results. In the analytical results of PCBs-containing transformer oil, the PCBs concentrations were in the range of 4.4 mg/L to 182.8 mg/L with L2000DX, N.D. to 14.63 mg/L with conventional GC/ECD, and N.D. to 13.03 mg/L using rapid GC/ECD. The PCB concentrations detected with the L2000DX showed a large difference to those detected with GC/ECD methods. Otherwise, little difference was shown between the two GC/ECD methods at a concentration range lower than 4 mg/L, although the rapid GC/ECD method tended to detect a slightly lower concentration near the regulation criteria of Korea for 2 mg/L.

Fermentation Properties of Yulmoo Mulkimchi According to the Ratio of Water to Yulmoo (물비율을 달리한 열무 물김치의 발효특성)

  • In the fermentation of Yulmoo Mulkimchi, various ratios of Yulmoo to water (l/l.14, l/l.5, 1/2, l/2.75, 1/4) were prepared and fermented at 4$^{\circ}C$, 15$^{\circ}C$, 25$^{\circ}C$ for up to 10 days. According to the fermentation time, the pH, acidity, total vitamin C content and microbial growth in Mulkimchi samples were determined together with sensory evaluation. Fermentation temperature on water addition ratio didn't show any difference in pH and microbial growth of Mulkimchi. However, low ratio of water resulted in high acidity and vitamin C content in Mulkimchi. In terms of acid odor and acid taste, the least water addition (l/l.4) sample was significantly strong than those of other samples. The ratio of Yulmoo to water, l/2 showed the highest overall sensorial acceptability and followed by l/l.5, l/l.4, l/2.75 and 1/4 samples. It was found that the content of vitamin C and acid taste of Mulkimchi have correlation with its acceptability.
