  • Fibrous dysplasia is a bone disorder characterized by progressive replacement of normal bone by fibrous bone tissue. Common involving sites of fibrous dysplasia are the skeletal system including long bones, ribs, craniofacial bones and the pelvis. If maxilla were affected by fibrous dysplasia, antrum is almost always involved. And fibrous dyplasia in maxillary sinus were followed the shape of bone. In our case, the lesion involves antrum but, its shape was different from typical fibrous dysplasia pattern of maxillary sinus. Therefore we report a case of monostotic pediculated fibrous dysplasia in the maxillary sinus with a review of literature.

  • Korean Land Spatialization Program (KLSP) is an R&D program of the National GIS Project for developing ubiquitous GIS technologies under the control of the M inistry of Land, Transport and Maritime Affairs (M LTM). The first program of the KLSP, which lasts from 2006 to 2012, initiated with $132 million of national funds and $42 million of private matching funds. Aiming to develop the 'Innovation of GIS technology for ubiquitous Korean land', the KLSP consists of five core research projects and one research coordination project to practically utilize and commercialize the results of core research projects. The Korean Land Spatialization Group (KLSG) is planning the KLSP Test-Bed for testing, integrating, and exhibiting the KLSP's outcomes. About 40% of the outcomes are related products to geo-sensor and wireless sensor network (W SN). Thus, interoperable, scalable and web accessible frameworks like an OGC SWE (Open Geospatial Consortium Sensor Web Enablement) are mandatory because some of the products must be connected to each other in a KLSG Test-Bed. The main objective of this paper is to introduce the KLSP Test-Bed and the SWE SOS (Sensor Observation Service) prototype, which is developed for interoperable geo-sensor networks of the KLSP.

  • In recent years, Smart Water Grid (SWG) concept has globally emerged over the last decade and also gained significant recognition in South Korea. Especially, there has been growing interest in water demand forecast and this has led to various studies regarding energy saving and improvement of water supply reliability. In this regard, this study aims to develop a nonlinear ensemble model for hourly water demand forecasting which allow us to estimate uncertainties across different model classes. The concepts was demonstrated through application to observed from water plant (A) in the South Korea. Various statistics (e.g. the efficiency coefficient, the correlation coefficient, the root mean square error, and a maximum error rate) were evaluated to investigate model efficiency. The ensemble based model with an cross-validate prediction procedure showed better predictability for water demand forecasting at different temporal resolutions. In particular, the performance of the ensemble model on hourly water demand data showed promising results against other individual prediction schemes.

  • Eelgrass, Zostera marina L. widely spreads throughout all the coastal areas of the Korean Peninsula. However, some previously reported eelgrass populations disappeared. The disappearance was probably caused by anthropogenic disturbance such as reclamation and pollutant or exceeded nutrient release. Eelgrass beds occurred from the intertidal to the subtidal zone, mainly in lagoon, estuaries, ports, barrier reef and bays. Eelgrass beds were also found at the intertidal mud and sand flats, subtidal mud and sandbank in more exposed areas. Habitat characteristics of eelgrass beds distributed on the coasts of the Korean Peninsula varied among coast areas. Eelgrass distributed constantly throughout the southern coast of Korea, while the distribution was limited at lagoon, bay, port, or barrier reef on the eastern coast, because of steep water depth and high wave energy in that coast. On the western coast, eelgrass mainly appeared at the intertidal and subtidal zones in islands. Sediment characteristics of the Z. marina beds varied with locality, tidal current and water motion. Sediments of Z. marina beds were composed of sand, muddy sand, sandy mud and mud. Mean grain size ranged from 1.5 to 4.1 phi.

  • ROS have been associated with pathogenic processes including carcinogenesis through direct effect on DNA and play an important role in the pathogenesis of inflammation. Because of many types of phenolic acid derivatives and flavonoids, apples have been one of the human diet since ancient times and are one of the most commonly consumed fruits in worldwide. In this study, catechin, chlorogenic acid and phlorizin dihydrate were purified and identified by HPLC and GC/MS. The contents of catechin, chlorogenic acid and phlorizin dihydrate were 1.01 mg, 7.01 mg and 3.67 mg/ kg wet weight, respectively. Catechin and phlorizin dihydrate were found to significantly inhibit oxidative DNA damage, while chlorogenic did not affect. Also, catechin inhibits NO and $PGE_2$ production via suppressing iNOS and COX-2 expression. However, chlorogenic acid and phlorizin dihydrate did not affect. Our results show that catechin may be the most active phenolic compound in anti-oxidative damage and anti-inflammatory effect.
