  • Satellite and aerial images are very useful means to monitor ecological and environmental situation. Nowadays more and more officials at Ministry of Environment in Korea need to access and use these image data through networks like internet or intranet. However it is very hard to manage and service these image data through internet or intranet, because of its size problem. In this paper very large image data service system for Ministry of Environment is constructed on web environment using image compression and web based image processing technology. Through this system, not only can officials in Ministry of Environment access and use all the image data but also can achieve several image processing effects on web environment. Moreover officials can retrieve attribute information from vector GIS data that are also integrated with the system.

  • 본 논문에서는 CAVE$^{TM}$-like 시스템에서 시각 커뮤니케이션 지원을 위한 고화질 스테레오 비디오 아바타 생성 기법을 제안한다. CAVE$^{TM}$-like 시스템에서는 사용자를 둘러싸고 있는 스크린으로 투사되는 빛의 잦은 변화 때문에 비디오 아바타 생성에 필수적인 사용자 추출이 쉽지 않다. 본 연구에서는 가시광선 차단 필터를 부착한 흑백 카메라로 획득된 적외선 반사 영상을 이용함으로써 스크린 상 빛의 변화를 차단하여 강건하게 사용자를 추출할 수 있도록 하였다. 또한, 사람의 양안차 간격으로 배치한 두 대의 컬러 카메라를 사용하여 삼차원 기하 정보의 재구성 없이 고화질 비디오 아바타를 빠르게 생성하고 입체 디스플레이 하기 위한 양안용 사용자 영상을 획득하였다. 획득된 영상에서 배경을 제거하기 위하여 적외선 반사 영상으로 정의된 실루엣 마스크와의 피팅 알고리즘을 제안한다. 생성된 비디오 아바타 스테레오 영상은 가상공간 내 평면 상에 텍스처 매핑하여 프레임 순차 스테레오 방식를 이용하여 입체 디스플레이할 수 있도록 하였다. 제안된 방식은 기존의 3D 비디오 아바타보다 고화질의 결과를 빠르게 생성할 수 있으며, 2D 기반 방식에서 제공해주지 못하던 입체감을 제공해준다.

  • The Electro-Optical Camera(EOC) image of the first Korea Multi-Purpose Satellitel(KOMPSAT-1) has both high resolution and convenient acquisition of research data, but on the other hand it has a defect of one band image. Fortunately, the multispectral Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) image data are receiving every day at the Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI). Therefore, this paper performed an effective merging for survey of reclaimed land using the high-resolution (6.6m) KOMPSAT-1 EOC image and the multispectral MODIS image data. According this paper prepared map of reclaimed lands in Western Coast of North Korea as quantitative(position and form) survey of reclaimed lands of North Korea using merged image. The use of KOPSAT-1 EOC image and MODIS images was found to be economical such using of large scale areas as reclaimed land or according easy to collect information and such north korea as inaccessible areas like as receiving every day.

  • A 1-chip high quality binarizing VLSI image processor (which has 8 bit ADC. 6 bit flash ADC, 15K standard cell, and 1K word ROM) based on 10 MIPS 16 bit DSP is implemented for FAX. This image processor(IP) performs image pre-processing. image quality improvement in copying and sending mode, and mixed image processing based on the fuzzy theory. And smoothing in sub-scan direction is applied for normal receiving mode data so the received data is enhanced like fine mode data. Each algorithm is processed with the same type of image processing window and 2-D image processing is implemented with a 1-D line buffer. The fabricated chip is applied to a FAX machine and image quality improvement is verified.

  • The desire for a technology that can mechanically acquire 2D images starting with the manual method of drawing has been making possible a wide range of modern image-based technologies and applications over a period. Moreover, this trend of the utilization of image-related technology as well as image-based information is likely to continue. Naturally, as like other technology areas, the function that humans produce and utilize by using images needs to be automated by using computing-based technologies. Surprisingly, technology using images in the future will be able to discover knowledge that humans have never known before through the information-related process that enables new perception, far beyond the scope of use that human has used before. Regarding this trend, the manipulation and configuration of massively distributed image database system is strongly demanded. In this paper, we discuss image identifier production methods based on the utilization of the image hashing technique which especially puts emphasis over an entropy operator.

전통조각보의 색채, 면구성을 응용한 패턴의 감성이미지 연구 (A Study on the Sensitive Image of Pattern Applied Color & Formative Types of the Traditional Jokakbo)

  • This study is on the sensitive image of pattern expressed in the color & formative types of traditional Jokakbo(scraps of cloth). The object of this research is Korean traditional scraps of cloth in the latter period of Chosun Dynasty. This study is to be classified into 10 formative types like square type 1, square type 2, diagonal type, diamond type, many color striped type, concentric circle type, pinwheel type, vertical line type, cintamani pattern type, and free style type to apply the design of Jokakbo to Korean design. And color group is divided into vivid tone and pale tone. And it constitutes 17 patterns from the combination of these two types. As for the factors of constitution of scraps of cloth, it consists of factors like revelation, attraction, temperature sense, abstract, and rigidity. In the emotional image in the patterns, both vivid tone and pale tone showed dynamic and warm emotion together. Also, the factors of revelation and attraction were evaluated as opposite images, and it evaluated the plain and dim emotion as more attractive emotion. They preferred the pale tone to the vivid tone. They preferred the cintamani pattern in the vivid tone, and the diamond pattern in the pale tone most. From the research result above, this study made the abstract image of scraps of cloth standardized and prepared for a basis to execute it essentially. This research will be used as basic data to make traditional Korean image spotlighted in the world fashion markets as well as it will be helpful to the development of pattern design for the scraps of cloth essentially.

복식에 나타난 흑색과 백색의 의미 - 기호학적 분석을 중심으로 - (The Meanings of Black and White Represented by Dress - Focused on Semiotic Analysis -)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the signification system between color and clothes systematically in black and white clothes. For this purpose, after examining the images of black and white clothes, we selected 55 clothes that represented as black and white and analyzed their meanings and the sources using semiotic framework, based on the work of Saussure and Barthes. The results as follows: First, the meaning in black and white clothes was generated from original color image. White clothes of religious person like Virgin Mary, Angel expressed pure and sacred color image. And black clothes like funeral dress expressed grief and death. Next, the meaning of black and white clothes was regenerated into modern color image by new environment. After industrial revolution, black was considered as a traditional men's fashion color. With diverse leisure activities, white sports wear appeared as active and clean image. Finally the source of the meaning of the clothes was the designer or the wearer. A little black dress by Chanel who was interested in simplicity and function represents an ideal of simple and sexy object. The situation is complicated by the fact that these three kinds of explanation may be found singly or mixed together.

실시간 객체 검출을 위한 개선된 Haar-like Feature 정규화 방법 (An Improved Normalization Method for Haar-like Features for Real-time Object Detection)

  • 본 논문에서는 객체 검출에 사용되는 Haar-like feature의 정규화 방법에 대해 다룬다. 기존의 Haar-like feature의 분산 정규화는 후보 윈도우 픽셀들에 대한 표준편차 계산에 사용되는 별도의 적분 영상 생성을 위해 많은 연산을 필요로 했으며 밝기 변화가 작은 영역에서 오검출이 증가하는 문제를 가지고 있으나, 제안하는 정규화 방법은 별도의 적분 영상을 사용하지 않아 처리 속도가 빠르며 제안하는 방법을 사용하여 학습시킨 분류기는 밝기 변화에 대해 강건한 성능을 보인다. 실험 결과 제안한 방법을 사용했을 때 객체 검출기의 처리 속도는 26% 향상 되었으며, 제안한 방법을 사용하여 학습시킨 분류기들은 5% 이상 향상된 검출률을 보였으며, 밝기 변화가 심한 경우는 45% 향상된 검출률을 보였다.

다단계 결합을 이용한 이동 물체 분리 알고리즘에 관한 연구 (The Moving Object Segmentation By Using Multistage Merging)

  • In this paper, we propose a segmentation algorithm that can reliably separate moving objects from noisy background in the image sequance received from a camera at the fixed position. The proposed algorithm consists of three processes:generation of the difference image between the input image and the reference image, multilevel quantization of the difference image, and multistagemerging in the quantized image. The quantization process requantizes the difference image based on the multiple threshold values determined bythe histogram analysis. The merging starts from the seed region which created by using the highest threshold value and ends when termination conditions are met. the proposed method has been tested with various real imge sequances containing intruders. The test results show that the proposed algorithm can detect moving objects like intruders very effectively in the noisy environment.
