  • In the engine room and the aft part areas of the ship, there exist so many tank structures contacting with fresh water or sea water or oil. If these structures exhibit excessive vibrations during the sea trials, it takes a lot of cost, time and effort to improve vibration situation because the reinforcement work requires emptying the fluid out of the tanks, additional welding and special painting. It is therefore very important to predict a precise vibration characteristics of the tank structures at the design stage, however it is not easy to estimate vibration characteristics of the structures because of difficulties for accurate evaluation of the added (or virtual) mass effect due to the fluid inside the tank. In this paper, numerical and experimental approaches have been performed to present same fundamental data necessary for anti-vibration design of tank structures contacting with fluid, by investigating vibration behaviors of rectangular tank structure for various water depths.

  • Objectives: The study is to evaluate biological monitoring and risk assessment for epichlorohydrin-bisphenol A resin exposed from waterproofing or finishing work in the apartment building construction. Methods: Subjected workers were working on spray-painting and waterproofing work for 8 hours per day every 20 days. The urine samples were collected at the end of 20 days working period. For urinary bisphenol A as metabolite from epichlorohydrin-bisphenol A exposure, urine samples were analyzed with liquid chromatography mass-mass spectrometry(HPLC-MS/MS). Results: Geometric means of urinary bisphenol A(BPA) with no hydrolysis and with enzymic hydrolysis(BPA-EH) in the workers were $1.10{\mu}g/L$ and $2.90{\mu}g/L$. BPA-EH was 4 times higher than that of control group. The factors for working period and ages did not affect the variation of BPA and BPA-EH. The levels for BPA and BPA-EH were not higher than 95th percentile for exposure on human-life environment. Conclusions: The BPA and BPA-EH were therefore effective biological markers for epichlorohydrin-bisphenol A exposure workers, but not seem to hazardous exposure level. Waterproofing work in construction workshop is required to measuring work environment and health care management for the workers.

  • The importance of magnesium alloys has significantly increased due to their low density, high strength/weight ratio, very good electromagnetic shielding features and good recyclability. However, unfortunately, Mg alloys are very susceptible to corrosion due to their high chemically activities (= -2.356 V vs. NHE at $25^{\circ}C$), hence, most commercial Mg alloys require corrosion protective coatings. Organic coating such as painting, powder coating and electrophoretic deposition of paint (E-paint) is typically used in the final stages of the coating process of Mg alloys. In this study, effect of pre-immersion time on the deposition of E-paint on AZ31 Mg alloy was investigated. It was found that during pre-immersion time, AZ31 Mg alloy rapidly reacts with E-paint solution and paint can be self-deposited on the AZ31 surface without applying of electric current. The pore size on the E-painted AZ31 Mg alloy increased with increasing pre-immersion time from 0 to 5 min. Both adhesion and corrosion resistance of E-painted AZ31 Mg alloy decreased with increasing pre-immersion time. The best E-paint AZ31 Mg alloy, which showed stronger adhesion after water immersion test and good corrosion resistance, was started to deposit after 5 s of pre-immersion time.

  • In this study, slope hazards mitigation methods for a natural terrain are systematically classified to survey the mitigation methods and develop a data base system. Also, field survey sheets which can be recorded the features of mitigation methods installed in the natural slope are developed. The slope hazards mitigation methods in the natural slope are classified as hillside part method and valley part method. The slope part sheet and the valley part sheet are also drawn up for field survey. As the result of the filed survey of mitigation methods about 50 points in Muju and Jangsu area, grass painting and slope covering methods are dominant in case of slopes part. In case of valley part, slit dam, concrete check dam and slope foot barrier are applied simultaneously.

  • In this paper, we propose a method to consider SAR(Specific Absorption Rate) at beginning stage of handsets development. First, simulation was carried out with changing folding angle from 150$^{\circ}$to 142$^{\circ}$. Simulation results show that SAR value is decreased with decreasing the folding angle. When folding angle is 142$^{\circ}$, error between simulation and measurement results is about 3.95 %. Second, we made some experiments with EMI (Electromagnetic Interference) paint, and its results show that different pattern of EMI paint have different SAR values. After removing EMI paint at the lower part of antenna feeding point, we got the decrease efficiency of 15.46 % for SAR value. When we applied zigzag painting pattern, we got the highest SAR decrease efficiency.

  • Following the introduction of Buddhism to China by Xuanzang (玄奘 602-664), the visual tradition of an itinerant monk became a popular subject. This theme developed into a Buddhist figure with an accompanying tiger, especially in Korea where tigers were an object of worship and ritual. This paper examines Korean examples of post-itinerant monk Buddhist figures accompanied by tigers, in particular the portrayal of itinerant monks as arhats and sansins. The supernatural powers of arhats were diverse, and they often tamed the tigers who then accompanied them on their journeys. The arhat, who was introduced during the Unified Silla period and gained popularity during the Goryeo period, was loved by the general public during the Joseon Dynasty as a familiar presence that brought good fortune. Special portraits of monks accompanied by a tiger, known as sansindo (山神圖), form a unique Korean genre. Sansin religious beliefs formed through a fusion of the newly introduced Buddhism and the age-old indigenous worship of sacred mountains and tigers. Most Buddhist temples include a sansin shrine containing on altar with sansin statues and portraits. Tigers in the portraits of itinerant monks and the stories of Buddhist monks who tamed tigers became famous and widely accepted in Korea, a nation already rich in tiger lore. Folklore and indigenous shamanism contributed to the establishment of Buddhism in Korea, and tigers played a central role in this.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the influence of theory of Cusanus on the Leonardo's theory of the centralized plan. In Renaissance, Neo-Platonism was so popular that is wat influenced nearly every architecture, literature, painting, sculpture and so on. Theory of Neo-Platonism was so various that every Neo-Platonist had his own theory. Among them, Cusanus focused his theory on rationality, mathematics rather than the medieval symbolism and studied the relationship between the God and men. In the same age, Leonardo da Vinci studied the planning system influenced on many architects works, including Bramante s. His planning system came not from symbolic appearance but from his scientific and rational researches as the theory of Cusanus. This study is to compare Cusanus Neo-Platonism theory and artistie view shown in Leonardo da Vinci's memorandum and drawing and to ascertain the influential relationship, abstracting the common things, and to substitute the characteristics that are seen in his centralized space sketch, abstracting the key words. The study on Cusanus will take advantage of the issued books and will requote Cusanus's copied ones.

  • This research is to find out the characteristics and significance of the plastic experiments with colored planes in Theo van Doesburg's works. Based on the analysis, the following results have been obtained. First, Thea van Doesburg's plastic experiments with colored planes started from the paintings in 1916-1918. series and series were made of the ion of still life or human motion. These paintings were intended to make effects of rhythm, acceleration and simultaneity. Second, he colored the outer and inner architectural surface with primary colors. The expression of visual. rhythm on the color design for De Vonk, Districts Housing Projects VIII & IX in Spangen, Multi-Housing in Oosterstraat, Friesian Housing, Landbouw Winter School, and University Hall in Amsterdam embodied the concept of painting-in-architecture. Third, the field of these experiments were extended into the architectural space. As a results, $H\hat{o}tel$ Particulier and Maison d'Artiste was shown on the Architectural Exhibition in Paris in 1923. The colored planes were used as a construction material. They generated the dynamic space in architecture. Fourth, through the pictorial works like Architectural Analysis, Contra-Composition, Simultaneous Composition or Simultaneous Contra-Composition, Tesseract and Aubette Cinema-Dancing Hall, he created the concepts of simultaneous integration including nature and the environments as well as space-time in the architecture.

  • This study intends to suggest the effective methods for water leakage prevention around the windows in stone works to up-grade the outdoor public space that has been taken much portion of apartment housing trends. The subjects of the study was selected among the domestic subcontractors of stone works. There are four methods for water leakage prevention around the windows; Firstly, the painting water-proof method after the masonry. Secondly, the urethane water-proof method after galvanizing panels on the gap. Thirdly, the separation method between stone and substructure and the last one is water-proof method that they put some water-proof screen between stone and substructure with the EPDM sheets. According to the analysis of the water-proof effects, constructability and planning, we could approach to conclusion that the most influent items to the water-leakage are the filling material's deformation, the state of oxygenation and deterioration of work skill. Among the water-proof methods in construction the EPDM sheet is most excellent water-proof method to meet the technical conditions. However, we have to apply it to stone works as a water-proof method for the decrease of the leakage defects after standardizing the materials, test and construction skill because there are many work skills according the subcontractors.

  • Various ceremonial flags were of great importance to the rulers who wished to have the absolute authorities for governing the people. Perhaps nothing indicated the ideas, thoughts and symbols of a certain period and people than the ceremonial flags. The ceremonial flags used in the old China and Korea took the shapes of the heaven and the earth, representing the social backgrounds and thoughts. This study was limited only to the discussion of the heaven-shaped patterns of the ceremonial flags. The 28 constellations of the heaven, in the Oriental way of thinking, were considered to express the immortal powers of Providence and the political domination of the earth. Hence the Polaris, the center of the heaven, symbolized the whole family of king, prince, child born of a concubine and royal harem. Among the constellation pictures were those of Han period, wall painting of old tombs in Koguryeo kingdom and old Japanese kingdom. Referring to the Emperor's ceremonial flags in Daemyeongjibyei, symbolic meanings changed historically and the complete systems of the ceremonial flags were established in Song period when the divine person was drawn on the flags. Animals concerned properly with the particular star and the shapes of the star were both drawn on the flags in Won period and only the shapes of the particular star in Myeong period. In the Imperial enthronement of Kojong the ceremonial flags might be made by the examples of those of Myeong period and remains are now found at Changdeok Palace, which need a further study because the references in detail are not available.
