Samsung's $4^{th}$ Generation TFT- LCD Production Line Concept

  • With the explosive growth of Note-PC and Desktop monitor market, TFT LCD market confronted a entire supply shortage during 1999. Forecasting a more booming stage for the next several years, many TFT-LCD panel manufacturers continue to expand the capacity of their existing plants and also make an additional investment in building new plants. The new investment is concentrated on the $4^{th}$ generation TFT LCD line in order to improve investment efficiency. The set up of the Samsung's Gen 3.5 line progressed with satisfactorily performance using $600{\times}720mm$ glass size. We have continuously reviewed several issues regarding the glass size for our next Gen. 4 line, which leads to adopt $730{\times}920mm$. Due to the continuous enlargement of a substrate size and following difficulty in transferring cassettes, the next line is expected to be the last line that employs "cassette transfer". The layout of the next line will shift from conventional "concentration-type" to "separation-type" configuration for the purpose of reducing transfer distance as well as transfer time. The details will be discussed in this paper.

  • IEC 61850은 변전소 자동화에 있어서 변전소 감시, 보호, 제어, 운전에 필요한 모든 부분에 IT 기술을 적용한 디지털 제어 기반의 차세대 변전소 자동화 시스템을 설계, 개발, 운용하는 기술로서 변전소 운전의 자동화 및 무인화를 위한 핵심 기술이다. IEC 61850 기반의 변전소 자동화 시스템의 스테이션 레벨 Station HMI 구현을 위하여 논리노드 데이터 클래스가 매핑된 MMS와 OPC를 연계하였으며 OPC 통신을 지원하는 HMI툴을 사용하여 IEC 61850 스테이션 레벨 Station HMI를 구현하였다.

  • IEC 61850 is a new approach international standard which is applicable to Substation Automation System (SAS) and defines the communication between intelligent electric devices (IEDs) in the substation and the related system requirements. It already has a significant impact on the development of different devices or systems used in substation. Conformance claims and the establishment of their validity are important parts of the acceptance of systems and equipment. This paper introduces the conformance testing, mapping of IEC 61850 services and MMS services, and in case study part it gives the example of testing OCR IED.

Next-generation approaches to the microbial ecology of food fermentations

  • Food fermentations have enhanced human health since the dawn of time and remain a prevalent means of food processing and preservation. Due to their cultural and nutritional importance, many of these foods have been studied in detail using molecular tools, leading to enhancements in quality and safety. Furthermore, recent advances in high-throughput sequencing technology are revolutionizing the study of food microbial ecology, deepening insight into complex fermentation systems. This review provides insight into novel applications of select molecular techniques, particularly next-generation sequencing technology, for analysis of microbial communities in fermented foods. We present a guideline for integrated molecular analysis of food microbial ecology and a starting point for implementing next-generation analysis of food systems.

  • Power quality monitoring system is devoted to more concern than before, because the innovation of industrial technology needs more accurate instruments and more advanced power quality. Therefore, this paper is proposed to use digital protective relays for power quality monitoring. In addition, taking power quality events, Electrical magnetic phenomenon of IEEE std 1159, proposing that adaptive power quality event list consider limitation memory capacity and signal processing ability of protective relay. The prototype S/W of power quality analysis is also developed. Especially this prototype S/W analysis scheme is verified through many kinds of power quality events (gathering protective relay data) in EMTP simulation.

  • This paper presents the methods to solve the problem about Power System Protection Program(PROSET) and describe the database relation and schema with UML. PROSET is a overall program system to protect power system and correct it. In the context of the PROSET it is so difficult to edit database data when topology is changed. When the renewal of data is performed. all changed values are disappeared. Therefore, it will not be expected to know the present situation by using the information of the databases data. So it is necessary to solve this problem. Solution is copy of the user. Only E.R diagram is used to express database schema and relation. So, in this paper, UML(Unified Modeling Language) will be used to express PROSET and database of MCD-H and MDT-H.

  • As a drive system for next generation train, we have been making research and development of a direct drive traction motor system without the conventional reduction gear. This traction motor is expected to have many advantages such as low noise, reduced maintenance, and energy saving. Due to the demand for high-output motors in the limited space between the wheels, open-ventilating traction motors with gear box have been widely used for many years. However, a conventional open-ventilating traction motor is necessary periodical disassembly to remove the accumulated dust from open-air ventilation. Reducing this burden, as well as increasing energy efficiency and reducing noise, would benefit the next generation of traction motors. To address these needs, KRRI have been developing a fully enclosed type direct drive motor(DDM) with high-efficiency permanent magnet for the next generation train.

  • The development goals of the next generation EMU are to improve the system maintainability, transportation capacity, reliability, passenger service and energy efficiency. In this paper, we propose a measurement scheme for the development goals of the next generation Electric Multiple Unit(EMU). To achieve that, we drew meaningful characteristics for each development goal, which mainly affect effectiveness and performance of vehicle system. Finally, the measurement scheme for the development is obtained by using the characteristics, which could be a numerical values such as maximum velocity, acceleration of the vehicle and so on or subjective values such as a results of surveys from passengers and so on. We expect the proposed measurement scheme will be used to measure the development goals of other similar system as well as the next generation EMU.

  • In this paper, a parametric evaluation method of protection ability is proposed. The adequacy of every parameter is evaluated for the setting rules. Then the results are combined to give protection level of a whole protective system. The setting rules are categorized into three groups for hierarchical calculation. The proposed scheme is applied to a location problem of a new protective device to show its effectiveness.
