However, studies on standard Romanized nomenclature for persons who was involved in traditional medicine are rare. Methods : Following up all articles in Journal of Korean Medical Classics[J. KMC], which have Romanized name for persons and analyzing problems of those. Results : There were several methods to write in Romanized character even to an unique and replaceable name. Conclusions : Romanized nomenclature for persons' name who were involved in traditional medicine as a terminology must have unique expression. • In this paper, the format of the Korean 2011 & the Japan 2008 elementary school mathematics curriculum are compared especially centered on elements, areas, objectives, and lesson time numbers. Through this comparison, suggestions can be obtained as follows. First, grade-group system which does not meet the actual elementary mathematics education needs to be reconsidered. Second, the area name 'number and operation' needs to be reduced into the area name 'number and calculation'. Third, using the area name 'pattern' needs to be reconsidered. Fourth, using the area name 'probability' needs to be reconsidered. If 'possibility' which some event occurs is seen as ratio, it can be contained area 'quantity relationship'. Fifth, containing the nature of mathematics into the school mathematics objectives needs to be reconsidered. Sixth, it is necessary to enhance the phase of mathematics in elementary education.

  • The main characters play leading roles in novels. In the previous studies, they recognize the main characters in a novel mainly based on dictionaries that built beforehand. In English, names begin with upper cases and are used with some words. In this paper, we propose a recognition method for main characters name in Korean novels by using predicates, rules and weights. We first recognize candidates for the characters name by predicates and propose some rules to exclude candidates that cannot be characters. We assign importances for candidates, considering weights that given by the number of candidates appeared in a sentence. Finally, if the importance of the character is more than a threshold, we decide that the character is one of main characters. The results from the experiments for 300 novels show that an average accuracy is 85.97%. The main characters name may be used to grasp relationships among characters, character's action and tendency.

  • Squalus acanthias has been considered the valid scientific name for piked dogfish by many taxonomists, although others recognize two valid species, Squalus suckleyi and S. acanthias, based on differences in the numbers of precaudal vertebrae and their distribution. We compared Korean piked dogfish with S. acanthias from New Zealand using morphological and molecular methods to elucidate the taxonomy. The Korean piked dogfish was distinguished from S. acanthias from New Zealand by the number of precaudal vertebrae (70-75 in the former vs. 77-80 in the latter) and 540 base pairs in the mitochondrial DNA cytochrome c oxidase subunit I sequence (genetic distance: 0.007-0.013). Therefore, we suggest that the scientific name of the Korean piked dogfish be changed from S. acanthias to S. suckleyi.

  • A single postlarva (9.72 mm in standard length) specimen of Crossorhombus azureus (Alcock, 1889) belonging to the family Bothidae, was collected using a bongo net from the southern sea of Korea on December 10, 2019. This species is characterized by having spines on post basipterygial processes. It has two eyes located at the opposite side in head, which accordingly belongs to pre-metamorphosis stage. Melanophores are distributed on the dorsal and anal fin base on the right side (blind side), which is regarded as a useful identification key distinguishing C. azureus from congeneric species in their postlarval stage. A molecular analysis based on mitochondrial DNA COI sequences showed that our specimen was closely matched to adult C. azureus (K2P distance = 0.017). As there is no Korean name for the genus Crossorhombus in spite of presence of Crossorhombus kobensis and its Korean name "Go-be-dung-geul-neob-chi" in Korea, we proposed a new Korean name "Dung-geul-neob-chi-sog" for the genus Crossorhombus and "Pa-lang-dung-geul-neob-chi" for the species C. azureus.
