Development of Golf-wear Design depicted on Natural Image used by Natural Dyeing (천연염색을 이용한 자연적 이미지의 골프웨어 디자인 개발)

  • This research intends to help local small fashion industry to outgrow its limitation, preserving and developing environment-friendly dyeing tradition in Jeju renowned for persimmon juice dyeing. The study, then, aims to develop eco-friendly golf-wear designs, with maximizing advantages of natural dyeing (with persimmon juice, indigo plant, gallnut, cochineal, turmeric, and loess) such as rot-proofness, bacteria-proofness, stench-proofness and block of ultraviolet rays. The results are as follows: first, natural fabrics such as muslin(cotton 100%), linen(linen 100%) and spandex(mixed cotton 98%, polyurethane 2%) were developed into eco-friendly ones colored with various natural dye sources. Second, four kinds of golf-wear design were developed to stand out golf wear's natural image, focused on classic, neo-minimal style. The characteristic details and design elements of sportswear were added to basic golf wear design. Therefore, it is hopeful that those designs of naturally dyed golf wear for women could be utilized for other various purposes in the future.

  • 1821년경 최초로 "loess"라는 이름으로 사용된 황토는 산화철을 함유하는 황갈색의 광물성 염료이며, 이것은 일반적으로 황토가 포함된 원토를 채에 담아 물 속에서 선별하거나 바람에 날려 분리시켜 얻어지며, 분리되어진 황토는 불투명한 황갈색의 색조와 항균성이 있는 것으로 알려져 왔다[1]. 그러나 황토는 물기름, 유기용제 등에 불용성이며 섬유와 친화력이 없어 염색후 내세탁성이 낮아 황토 염색시 고착제인 콩즙을 이용하는 전통적인 방법이 알려지다가 최근에 Kim[2]은 고착제 없이 황토의 입자 크기를 5 $mu extrm{m}$ 이하로 하여 9$0^{\circ}C$에서 5~10 분간 교반하는 방법으로 면직물에 염색해 내세탁성과 항균성이 있는 염색물을 얻고자 하였으나 입자 크기가 5$\mu\textrm{m}$이하 수준에서도 친화력이 부족하여 내세탁성에는 크게 영향을 미치지 못하였으며 항균 효과도 낮게 나온 것으로 보고되었다.   • This study was aimed to determine color sensibility factors for naturally dyed fabrics and to investigate their relationship with color variables such as hue and tone and dyes. Two hundreds different fabric colors prepared by a variety of natural dyeing were subjectively evaluated by color experts, which resulted in three color sensibility factors including 'Pleasant', 'Comfort', and 'Modem'. Among hues, Yellowish shade by natural dyeing was found as more pleasant and more comfort than any others. Among main tones for natural dyeing, g(grayish) and ltg(light grayish) were more felt in 'Comfort' whereas d(dull) more in 'Pleasant'. As for dyes, Gardenia Blue, Gardenia Yellow, and Anato tended to give feelings of 'Pleasant' whereas Raw Indigo and Loess did 'Comfort'.

  • This study has been done to investigate the characteristics of the wall materials of a earthen house ; the core-wall of wood-frame house and the mud-wall of a all wall house. A series of tests was carried out to study the physical and mechanical properties of wall materials which were picked from existing earthen houses. The core-wall materials were composited sandy soil or clayey soil with low plasticity. The mud-wall materials were sandy soil with well compaction effect. It was confirmed that the wall materials were not always using the loess(called Hwang'o) but using the common soils which wee easily picked from the residential quarter.

  • This study was carried out to evaluate effect of sludge characteristics (pH, SVI, anaerobic storage, wet density and growth phase) on the sedimentation of bulking sludge of paper manufacturing plant. The results showed that mix hulking sludge with sewage sludge (10-60%) caused the decrease of SVI, the settled sludge concentration was increased. Increase of anaerobic storage time (0 to 8 day) was increased SVI, sedimentation performance was deteriorated. The sedimentation was improved by addition of loess (0.2-5.0 g/L), because wet density of sludge was increased and SVI was decreased. At an exponential phase, the ratio of sedimented/growthed sludge concentration was decreased, the ratio was increased after stationary phase.

Characteristics of Alkali-activated Natural Hwangtoh Paste Utilizing Microwave Heating

  • In this study, the potential use of indigenous natural loess(Hwangtoh) as a new construction material, via alkali activation in conjunction with microwave heating, was investigated. Hwangtoh pastes with three different mix proportions of varying alkali liquid concentrations at a constant liquid-to-Hwangtoh ratio of 0.55 were prepared. Through the investigation it was found that it is possible to prepare Hwangtoh paste with $19.02N/mm^2$ at the age of 4 hours with the alkali solution of 8M NaOH and 1:4.5 mass ratio of liquefied $Na_2SiO_3$ at the curing temperature of $60^{\circ}C$ by microwave heating. The strength development at early age of the alkali activated Hwangtoh paste specimens may be attributed to both a higher rate of reaction and moisture evaporation due to microwave heating.

  • DNA microarray is a powerful tool for high-throughput analysis of biological systems. Various computational tools have been created to facilitate the analysis of the large volume of data produced in DNA microarray experiments. Normalization is a critical step for obtaining data that are reliable and usable for subsequent analysis such as identification of differentially expressed genes and clustering. A variety of normalization methods have been proposed over the past few years, but no methods are still perfect. Various assumptions are often taken in the process of normalization. Therefore, the knowledge of underlying assumption and principle of normalization would be helpful for the correct analysis of microarray data. We present a review of normalization techniques from single-labeled platforms such as the Affymetrix GeneChip array to dual-labeled platforms like spotted array focusing on their principles and assumptions.
