  • Amidst the onset of the Fourth Industrial Revolution and the prominence of artificial intelligence, societal structures are undergoing significant changes. There is a heightened global interest in AI education for nurturing future talents. Consequently, this research aims to develop an AI-integrated Korean language curriculum for first-year high school students, utilizing the ADDIE model for instructional program development. To assess the program's effectiveness, pre-post assessments were conducted on future core competencies (Collaboration, Communication, Critical Thinking, Creativity) and knowledge information processing skills. The curriculum, spanning nine sessions and incorporating four small projects, sought to provide students with a new experience of AI-integrated Korean language education. As a result, students who participated in the program demonstrated improvement in future core competencies across all areas, and positive outcomes were observed in satisfaction levels and qualitative analysis. Through these findings, it is suggested that this program successfully integrates artificial intelligence into high school Korean language education, potentially contributing to the cultivation of future talents among students.

  • Objective : Determining language lateralization is important for the presurgical evaluation of patients with medically intractable epilepsy. The Wada test has been the gold standard for lateralization of language dominance before epilepsy surgery. However, it is an invasive test with risk, and have some limitations. Methods : We compared the volumetric analysis with Wada test, and studied the clinical potential of volumetric analysis to assess language laterality in large surgical candidates with temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE). To examine the efficacy of volumetric analysis to determine language lateralization during presurgical evaluation, we compared the volumetric analysis of the bilateral planum temporale with the results of Wada test in 59 patients with chronic intractable TLE (rTLE, n=32; lTLE, n=27) who underwent epilepsy surgery. We measured the gray matter volumes of planum temporale (PT) of each patients using the VoxelPlus2 program (Mevisys, Daejeon, Korea). Results : Overall congruence of the volumetric analysis with the Wada test was 97.75% in rTLE patients and 81.5% in lTLE patients. There were more significant leftward asymmetry of the PT in rTLE patients than lTLE patients. In lTLE patients, relatively high proportion (37%) of the patients showed bilateral or right hemispheric language dominance. Conclusion : These results provide evidence that the volumetric analysis of the PT could be used as an alternatives in language lateralization. Also, the results of the Wada test suggested that there was considerable plasticity of language representation in the brains of patients with intractable TLE and it was associated with an earlier age of brain injury.

  • Purpose In this study, we propose the special purposed R package named ""new_Noun()" to process nonstandard texts appeared in various social networks. As the Big data is getting interested, R - analysis tool and open source software is also getting more attention in many fields. Design/methodology/approach With more than 9,000 R packages, R provides a user-friendly functions of a variety of data mining, social network analysis and simulation functions such as statistical analysis, classification, prediction, clustering and association analysis. Especially, "KoNLP" - natural language processing package for Korean language - has reduced the time and effort of many researchers. However, as the social data increases, the informal expressions of Hangeul (Korean character) such as emoticons, informal terms and symbols make the difficulties increase in natural language processing. Findings In this study, to solve the these difficulties, special algorithms that upgrade existing open source natural language processing package have been researched. By utilizing the "KoNLP" package and analyzing the main functions in noun extracting command, we developed a new integrated noun processing package "new_Noun()" function to extract nouns which improves more than 29.1% compared with existing package.

  • This paper is to broaden the possible spectrums of analyzing the Korean-written novel "The Vegetarian" by using the computational linguistics program. Through the use of language model, which was usually used in bi-gram analysis in corpus linguistics, to the International Man Booker award winning novel, the characteristics of "The Vegetarian" is investigated by comparing it to the English-written novel "A Little Life".

  • The objectives of this paper are to introduce some characteristics of two-dimensional concept of quality and to find out the possibility of the application of two-dimensional quality concept for improving the service quality. The concept was applied to small & medium-sized foreign language Institute. In order to select some service quality dimensions and decide attractive qualify factors among numerous factors, factor analysis and frequently analysis were used. The result. is that all quality factors in empathy dimension are identified as attractive quality factors. This implies that customization program is necessary in small & medium-sized foreign language institutes for improving their competitiveness. However, all quality factors in tangibles dimension are identified as must-be quality factors.

  • The purpose of this study is to help with education by applying the learning clinic program to the maladjusted children to improve the emotional stability and academic achievement. In order to find the components of the learning clinic program, we have classified self efficacy, learning motivation, anxiety, and academic stress as emotional factors and the results of Korean language, mathematics, sociology and science as academic achievement factors to examine the effects of the program. The results obtained in this study are followings. Firstly, there was significant difference in self efficacy and anxiety between boys and girls among emotional factors, and there was significant difference in math between boys and girls among academic achievement factors. Secondly, after applying the learning clinic program, significant difference is found in all factors such as self efficacy, learning motivation, anxiety and academic stress, and there was also a significant difference in Korean language, mathematics, sociology and science among academic achievement factors. In conclusion, the learning clinic program was helpful to maladjusted children by improving emotional stability and academic achievement.

  • This study aimed at investigating the lexical diversity in the "Frog Story" narratives of Korean-Chinese bilingual children. Six bilingual speakers of Korean children- four boys and two girls- were audio recorded as they produced narratives based on pictures from the Mercer Mayer book "Frog, where are you?" The order of narration was counterbalanced. The vocabularies from narratives were analyzed by type, token, TTR (type-token Ratio) and D value using the CLAN (Computerized Language Analysis) program. The findings showed that the pattern of lexical diversity in Korean is similar with the Chinese, but the TTR and D value of Chinese still remain low in comparison with those of Korean. In addition, Korean language seems to have significant influence on Chinese in the language usage pattern and vice versa.

  • Measurement of the object, messages, clones, capsulation, inheritance, etc. that are conventional object-oriented paradigm characteristics as a method of measurement of the complexity of object-oriented programs has been reported. In this paper, the measures that are helpful to designing and coding of JAVA program, which is the representative language of object-oriented programs, are applied to six measures(i,e., Halstead's Program Volume, Program Level, Program Impurity, Macabe's Cyclomatic Number, Handerson-Seller's lock of cohesion in method and Sullivan's PVG.) suggested in the present study by referring to several actual programs as example for comparative analysis.

  • This study investigated the use of grammatical morphemes (substantive morphemes and connective endings) of Korean speaking children with and without language impairment (LI). Participants were two children (ages 5;11 and 6;2) with SLI (specific language impairment), two LD (language delay) children (ages 6;3 and 6;5) with 70-84 range on a performance-IQ test, and two children (ages 5;7 and 6;1) with ND (normal development). Spontaneous language samples were elicited by play activities and story generation. A total of 8,059 (M=I,343, ranged 966-1,659) intelligible and nonimitative utterances were analyzed by the KCLA 2.0 (Korean Computerized Language Analysis 2.0) program for substantive morphemes and connective endings. The findings of this study were as follows; (1) The Korean speaking children with LI including SLI demonstrated less uses of grammatical morphemes than ND children. (2) Few differences were found between LI and ND children in the use of the grammatical morpheme types. (3) LI children produced significantly higher percentage of grammatical morpheme errors in spontaneous speech than ND children. (4) Few differences were found between SLI and LD children in degrees of the use and the error of grammatical morphemes.
