To study the effect of sequence on DNA structure, the two decamer crystal structures one alternating,d(GTACGCGTAC), and the other non-alternating, d(GGCCGCGGCC), were solved. Crystals of both decamers belong to the hexagonal space group $P6_122$, with one strand in the asymmetric unit. The unit cell constants of the alternating decamer are a = b = 39.26 $\AA$, c = 77.70 $\AA$. The structure was refined with 1,828 reflections from 8.0 to 2.0 Aresolution to an R value of 21.3% with all DNA atoms and 63 water molecules. The isomorphous non-alternating decamer had unit cell dimensions of a = b = 39.05 $\AA$, c = 82.15 $\AA$. The structure was refined with 2,423 reflections from 8.0 to 2.0 $\AA$ resolution to a final R value of 22.2% for all DNA atoms and 65 water molecules. Although the average helical parameters of the decamers are typical of A-DNAs, there are some minor differences between them. The helical twist, rise, x-displacement, inclination and roll alternate in the alternating decamer, but do not in the non-alternating decamer. The backbone conformations in both structures show some differences; the residue G(7) of the alternating decamer is trans for $\alpha$ and $\gamma$ while the trans conformations are observed at the residue G(8) of the non-alternating decamer.
This study was undertaken to document relations between facial skeletal pattern and dental occlusion. The data in .this study were collected from pretreatment cephalometric radiographs and study models of patients' records present in the files of Orthodontic Department, Seoul National University Hospital. Patients were selected on the basis of a mandibular plane-sella nasion angle equal to or greater than $38^{\circ}$ (high SN-MP angle) or equal to or less than $26^{\circ}$ (low SN-MP angle). Patients in the mixed dentition and with missing permanent teeth were excluded for ease of assessing tooth size / arch circumference relationships and then 30 high SN-MP and 11 low SN-MP patients were selected among them. The mean age of these two groups of patients was high SN-MP, $12.8{\pm}1.23$ years and low SN-MP, $13.0{\pm}1.48$ years. The following conclusions were obtained. 1. In the maxilla and mandible the mean tooth size of high SN-MP patients was nearlly identical to the low SN-MP patients. 2. The mean maxillary arch circumference was increased in low SN-MP group compared with high SN-MP group and a smilar, but smaller, mean increase was present in mandible. 3. The difference between the mean maxillary circumference required and the mean maillary circumference present ranged from -4.8mm in the high SN-MP group to -1.3mm in the low SN-MP group. A small range of means occurred in the mandible (high SN-MP: -4.0mm to low SN-MP: -1.8mm). 4. In the maxilla and mandible the mean arch length was nearly identical in the high and low SN-MP groups. 5. The mean incisor inclination was increased as the SN-MP angle decreased in the maxilla and mandible. 6. The men distance of the maxillary first molar from anterior border of the pterygomaxillary fissure was nearly similar between high and low groups. 7. The mean mandibular intermolar width was increased from high SN-MP to low SN-MP patients.
Objective: This study aimed to assess three-dimensional changes in the temporomandibular joint positions and mandibular dimensions after correction of dental factors restricting mandibular growth in patients with Class II division 1 or division 2 malocclusion in the pubertal growth period. Methods: This prospective clinical study included 14 patients each with Class II division 1 (group I) and Class II division 2 (group II) malocclusions. The quad-helix was used for maxillary expansion, while utility arches were used for intrusion (group I) or protrusion and intrusion (group II) of the maxillary incisors. After approximately 2 months of treatment, an adequate maxillary arch width and acceptable maxillary incisor inclination were obtained. The patients were followed for an average of 6 months. Intraoral and extraoral photographs, plaster models, and cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) images were obtained before and after treatment. Lateral cephalometric and temporomandibular joint measurements were made from the CBCT images. Results: The mandibular dimensions increased in both groups, although mandibular positional changes were also found in group II. There were no differences in the condylar position within the mandibular fossa or the condylar dimensions. The mandibular fossa depth and condylar positions were symmetrical at treatment initiation and completion. Conclusions: Class II malocclusion can be partially corrected by achieving an ideal maxillary arch form, particularly in patients with Class II division 2 malocclusion. Restrictions of the mandible in the transverse or sagittal plane do not affect the temporomandibular joint positions in these patients because of the high adaptability of this joint.
The aim of this report is to present an intraoral upper molar distalization system supported with zygomatic anchorage plates (Zygoma-gear Appliance, ZGA). This system was used for a 16-year-old female patient with a Class II molar relationship requiring molar distalization. The system consisted of bilateral zygomatic anchorage plates, an inner-bow and heavy intraoral elastics. Distalization of the upper molars was achieved in 3 months and the treatment results were evaluated from lateral cephalometric radiographs. According to the results of the cephalometric analysis, the maxillary first molars showed a distalization of 4 mm, associated with a distal axial inclination of $4.5^{\circ}$. The results of this study show that an effective upper molar distalization without anchorage loss can be achieved in a short time using the ZGA. We suggest that this new system may be used in cases requiring molar distalization in place of extraoral appliances.

A scissors bite in the posterior teeth occurs when the upper teeth are positioned totally or unilaterally buccal to the lower teeth in centric occlusion. This malocclusion can result from either excessive width of maxilla, deficient width mandible, or combination of both. The malocclusion can lead to hindered growth of jaws or to asymmetry between the jaws, Besides, the severe lingual inclination of the mandibular posterior teeth prevents adequate mastication. Thus, the scissors bite is in need of immediate interceptive orthodontic intervention. The common treatments of the scissors bite is to expand the mandibular arch: fixed or removable appliances. In our clinic, we made a success in treatment of the scissors bite using the Schwarz appliance. We treated the scissors bite using the lower Schwarz appliance for a mean observation period of 21 months. The subjects were 2 boys, aged 4 years.
We present the physical properties of KIC 6220497 exhibiting multiperiodic pulsations from the Kepler photometry. The light curve synthesis represents that the eclipsing system is a semi-detached Algol with a mass ratio of q=0.243, an orbital inclination of i=77.3 deg, and a temperature difference of ${\Delta}T=3,372K$, in which the detached primary component fills its Roche lobe by ~87% and is about 1.6 times larger than the lobe-filling secondary. To detect reliable pulsation frequencies, we analyzed separately the Kepler light curve at the interval of an orbital period. Multiple frequency analyses of the eclipse-subtracted light residuals reveal 32 frequencies in the range of $0.75-20.22d^{-1}$ with semi-amplitudes between 0.27 and 4.55 mmag. Among these, four frequencies ($f_1$, $f_2$, $f_5$, $f_7$) may be attributed to pulsation modes, while the other frequencies can be harmonic and combination terms. The pulsation constants of 0.16-0.33 d and the period ratios of $P_{pul}/P_{orb}=0.042-0.089$ indicate that the primary component is a ${\delta}$ Sct pulsating star in p modes and, thus, KIC 6220497 is an oscillating eclipsing Algol (oEA) star. The dominant pulsation period of about 0.1174 d is considerably longer than the values given by the empirical relations between the pulsational and orbital periods. The surface gravity of log $g_1=3.78$ is significantly smaller than those of the other oEA stars with similar orbital periods. The pulsation period and the surface gravity of the pulsating primary demonstrate that KIC 6220497 would be the more evolved EB, compared with normal oEA stars.
The follow-up BVRI photometric observations of NSVS 1461538, which was discovered as an $Algol/{\beta}$ Lyr eclipsing variable by Hoffman, Harrison & McNamara (2009), were performed for three years from 2011 to 2013 by using the 61-cm telescope and CCD cameras of Sobaeksan Optical Astronomy Observatory (SOAO). New light curves have deep depths both of the primary and secondary eclipses, rounded shapes outside eclipses and a strong O'Connell effect, indicating that NSVS 1461538 is a typical W UMa close binary system rather than an $Algol/{\beta}$ Lyr type binary star. A period study with all the timings shows that the orbital period may vary in a sinusoidal way with a period of about 5.6 yr and a small semi-amplitude of about 0.008 d. The cyclical period variation was interpreted as a light-time effect due to a tertiary body with a minimum mass of $0.66M{\odot}$. The first photometric solution with the Wilson-Devinney binary model shows that the system is a W-subtype contact binary with the mass ratio ($q=m_c/m_h$) of 3.46, orbit inclination of 85.6 deg and fill-out factor of 30%. From the existing empirical relationship between parameters, the absolute dimension was estimated. The masses and radii of the component stars are $0.28M{\odot}$ and $0.71R{\odot}$ for the less massive but hotter primary star, respectively, and $0.96M{\odot}$ and $1.21R{\odot}$ for the more massive secondary, respectively. Possible evolution of the system is discussed in the mass-radius and the mass-luminosity planes.
The purpose of this paper is to examine the effects of heavy and frequent snowfall events on folk houses by selecting those where there are known as heavy or frequent snowfall regions over Korea as cases Youngdong regions is selected as a heavy snowfall region and Bogheung as a frequent snowfall region by analyzing the weather data. Also, actual observation data from the field survey, collected date from interview and some related documents have been analyzed. The folk houses where they locate in heavy or frequent snowfall regions have a concentrated type and a broad kitchen. The kitchen often occupies up about 30∼40% of the whole house and lot. The folk houses used for case studies have some facilities to protect them from heavy or frequent snowfalls. Teuruck in Youngdong regions and Kadaegi in Bogheung are good examples of those facilities. Also, the steeply slanting roofs are common in the heavy or frequent snowfall regions to keep snow from being piled up on them.

Theoretical analysis for predicting the heat transport limitation of a copper powder sintered wick heat pipe was performed. The heat pipe diameter was 8mm and water was used for working fluid. The particle diameter was classified by 5 different meshes, and each capillary pressures and heat transport limitations. thermal resistances were analyzed according to the operating temperatures, wick thicknesses and inclination angles, based on the effective capillary radius($r_c$), porosity($\varepsilon$), Permeability (K). The wick capillary limitation was increased according as the particle diameter and the wick thickness and the operating temperature were increased. As the porosity and the capillary radius were larger. then the heat transport limitation was higher. The thermal resistance was greatly increased according as the wick thickness was increased.
This study explores the trends and implications of social welfare qualitative research in Korea. The results are follows. At present, social welfare qualitative research is entering in the quickening period. The characteristics of configuration of social welfare qualitative research in Korea are overwhelming inferiority in post-positivism and heuristics, wide differences between universities in metropolitan area and in local area at the aspect of amounts of qualitative research products, rapid increase in the interests of qualitative research in doctoral candidates, and distinguishment of doctoral candidates as a leader group in qualitative research. The results of critics of qualitative researches are follow: 1) initiative of naturalistic interpretism 2) inclination of methodicism 3) poorness of critical themes 4) propensity in grounded theory. These trends of social welfare qualitative research in Korea, in spite of the limits, have various implications: 1) Trying to critics of social welfare knowledge based on positivism and formation of opposing discourse to positivism 2) diversification in paradigm of inquiry 3) spread of narrative thinking of social welfare phenomenon.
