  • Takji-oryego (A Review of the Five manners related to the Ministry of Finance) is a book organized by Hojo (Joseon's Ministry of Finance) and the cost and details of royal events held according to five manners. This book contained a lot of information on medicine-related rituals in the late Joseon Dynasty. Thus, it was found that the royal rituals related to medicine include not only childbirth and fertility, but also Heuljeon and Sangjeon. Through this study, the following facts were newly discovered: 1) The time of transcription was between October 1840 and October 1841. 2) Huljeon (Privilege given to save) is also related to the rise of the status of medical officials after King Sukjong. 3) According to Heuljeon, medical bureaucrats in the late Joseon Dynasty had a higher position than other technical officials. 4) The contents of reward were complementary to the existing literature. The date of death of a medical official, which was unknown in previous studies, is documented. In a case like Sansilcheong, there are contents that are unknown through other sources.

  • Objective : "Shinchanbyeokonbang"(printed in 1613) was written by Heo Joon, who is an author of "Dongeuibogam"(also printed in 1613). Even though "Dongeuibogam" has "Onyeok"(chapter for pestilence), Heo Joon wrote technical book for pestilence as name as "Shinchanbyeokonbang". Therefore, we try to compare "Shinchanbyeokonbang" with "Dongeuibogam" "Onyeok". Method : We compared formation and contents of "Shinchanbyeokonbang" with "Dongeuibogam" "Onyeok". Result : "Shinchanbyeokonbang" has entirely new contents than "Dongeuibogam" "Onyeok" in somehow, almost contents of "Dongeuibogam" "Onyeok" are in "Shinchanbyeokonbang" though. Also "Shinchanbyeokonbang" reorganized prescrptions for pestilence not only in "Dongeuibogam" "Onyeok" but also in "Dongeuibogam" ; "Han", "Hwangdal", "Hwa", "Yinhoo", "Hyeol", "Seup" and "Sasoo" Conclusion : "Shinchanbyeokonbang" was printed by Heo Joon at the same time when "Dongeuibogam" was printed in 1613. However, "Shinchanbyeokonbang" has newly formation and contents is some aspects comparing to "Dongeuibogam" "Onyeok", which is the similar chapter for pestilence because this book is the technical book for pestilence.

  • The world history of modern comics is not too long. So is the domestic history of modern comics. Besides, there is a tendency that the domestic history of comics has developed with introduction of foreign materials. Even though a few argue that the domestic history of modern comics had a sheer background with our tradition, this argument is considered as a kind of minority. Obviously, it is not easy to argue something with valid grounds in the field of comics history. It is needed to provide valid grounds of comics history from our history. Several symbols of comics were found in 'Three Bonds and the Morals in Human Relations' and 'The Sequel to Three Bonds and the Morals in Human Relations', Joseon. Particularly, comics frames were used to explain the contents in two books. This supports the fact that Korean comics history has its own base in the tradition. This study is on the analysis of 'comics frames' among symbols of comics in 'The Sequel to Three Bonds and the morals in Human Relations.' It is said that another objective of this study helps get a real idea of comics history of Joseon by studying the symbolic meaning of comics frames used in this period. On top of that, the result of the study that focuses on the symbolic meaning of comics frames in Joseon is expected to be used as a kind of comics history for the people who have a passion for comics.

  • Of all the annotations of Rites of Zhou for 2,000 years, there is no single line of history of ore contents related to city building in its current perspective. This is because the definitive evidence of the interpretation of related phrases is regarded as top-level guidelines called "辨方正位(Byeonbang-Jeongwi)", and their specific contents have been discussed in '匠人建國(Jangin-Geonguk)'. The phrases of '匠人營國(Jangin-Yeongguk)', considered to be the key buzzword related to city building, must be reconsidered for these reasons. As such, this paper strives to analyze the system of logic formed by consistent interpretation that flowed for 2,000 years from Han to Qing dynasties, and to discover the principles of city building used in Confucian classics.

  • This study focuses on the contents about the Urinalysis which is the most representative one of the Tibetan medicine. Also, this study compares it with the Urinalysis of Traditional Korean medicine. This study focuses on the simple history, the theoretical system, the diagnosis and the urinalysis mainly based on the documents related to the Tibetan medicine. Also, through the comparison with the contents of textbook of Traditional Korean Medicine and the urinalysis shown in the Dongeuibogam(東醫寶鑑) which is the representative Korean medical book, the difference between Tibetan Medicine and Traditional Korean Medicine will be observed. The contents related about the urinalysis of the Tibetan medicine are more specific than those of Traditional Korean Medicine. By observing the color, scent, vapor and sediment of one's urine together with periodic changes more thoroughly, it is possible to find out the cause of a certain disease. However, Traditional Korean Medicine examines the medical conditions mainly based on the state of discharge and fever, showing a clear difference. The Tibetan medicine has an extremely specific type of urinalysis in comparison with that of Traditional Korean Medicine. It is the only characteristic of the Tibet medicine, which cannot be found in any other traditional medicine. By applying the viewpoint of the doctor who diagnoses the patient by measuring his or her pulse, it is possible to make the diagnosing process more specific and accurate. It is expected that the follow-up study will be continuously executed with the introduction of the system for the urinalysis of the Tibetan medicine to Traditional Korean medicine.

  • This paper is a follow up study of [2]. In this paper we analyse the contents of middle school mathematics textbooks published in the 1st National Curriculum Period centered on the concept 'straight line' and discuss how they are different from contemporary mathematics textbooks in view of connectedness of contents, mathematical terms, textbook as a learning material vs. teaching material, relationship between contents of national curriculum and textbooks, and some topics related to direct proportion, function, method of equivalence as a method for solving simultaneous linear equations and so on. The results of our analysis and discussion suggest implications for reforming mathematics curriculum and developing mathematics textbooks.

  • Correlations between "The Book of Changes" and medicine originate from the first publication of the book. Korean Traditional Medicine is no exception in following this tendency of making connections between the two fields. A Chinese medical text, "의학정전" is the most frequently cited text in a Korean medical text "Euirimchalyo". Upon examining the two texts focusing on the 종창, 임폐문 that discusses 비괘, it could be seen that Euirimchalyo edited out the philosophical contents of 의학정전 as much as possible. Thus, on examination of the text, it can be concluded that 의림촬요 takes no part in the Korean history of medical philosophy. This indicates that 의림촬요 is a medical text that purses practicality and efficiency though selectively summarizing.

  • Hyungsang Medicine is a medical theory a Korean traditional medical doctor Park In Kyu established based on the contents of "Donguibogam" that is currently practiced commonly today in Korean TKM clinics. Although it is based on "Donguibogam", the most basic text of TKM, it differs from "Donguibogam" in that its diagnosis, treatment, and treatment methods of illnesses are based on the person's appearance. This study organizes the medical theory by considering its relation to other medical theories and organizing the theoretical backgrounds through examining documents that it is based on.

  • To reveal vegetation history and environmental changes in Mt. Jiri, sediment cores were collected from Wangdeungjae moor of Mt. Jiri. Overall dry matter accumulation rates and sedimentation rates by $^{14}C-dating$ were 0.027 $kg{\cdot}m^{-2}{\cdot}yr^{-1}$ and 0.184 mm/yr since 1250 ($760{\pm}40$ yrs BP, 14 cm in depth). There are three pollen zones; the first zone is below 14 cm depth where Quercus dominated, the second zone is from 14 cm to 6 cm depth where Gramineae increased and Quercus and Salix dominated and the third zone is from 6 cm depth to the top where Pinus and Quercus dominated. Total pollen concentration gradually increased from bottom to the top of sediment core, which implies wet, anaerobic and cool condition during covered period by the core. Calcium and magnesium contents had increased since 14 cm depth, with peaks at 13 and 20 cm depths. This indicates that groundwater had recently become relatively more important than surface water as water source of Wangdeungjae moor Exotic plant or Chenopodiacea pollen was less than 1%. There was little variation in total N and P contents along the length of the core. These results support that Wangdeungjae moor has been little affected by anthropogenic activities. Also, nutrients and heavy metal contents indicate the baseline condition of Wangdeungjae moor.
