  • The purpose of this study is to analyze common inquiry tasks of middle school history textbooks and find out it's implications on teacher librarians' educational information services. There are 84 common inquiry tasks according to examinations of inquiry tasks related to world history in 18 kinds of middle school history textbooks. Results of the analysis show that almost all of common inquiry tasks of world history make middle school students who should resolve them research the pictures and reading materials included in the textbooks individually and verbalize under the information literacy process. Compared with information literacy process of the "Library and Information Skills" for middle schools, the First step of task definition and figuring out information needs and the Third step of representation of information are being implemented. For this reason, teacher librarian could reduce history studies teachers' burden of running the class and promote students' inquiry activities by teaching skills of information analysis and interpretation, synthesis and organization and evaluation of their information literacy process and results.

  • Historian Eric J. Hobsbawm once said "the task that historians have is to analyze the meanings of the past within the context of society and to track the changes and implementation." It would not be too far of a stretch to apply Hobsbawm's quote to art historian since art history, although quite specific, is still history. In addition, Hobsbaum also asserted that, "a mold called the past continuously forms the present or at least thought to be." It is my recognition that the major westernization of the last century took place under the Japanese colonization which served as the channel to usher in western art; however, the current 20thcentury Korean art history fails to recognize that the mold of the past, namely western art in this case, has formed the modern art of the present. Based on this recognition, attention was given to what lacked in the analysis of the current 20th-century Korean art history in terms of "Informel" which was identified as the turning point towards "modern art" in the Korean art history as well as the following "experimental art." My belief is that the art history of Korea has to be reassessed from, a socio-cultural perspective as well as adopting multi-level and diachronic understanding. However, the existing Korean art, especially the one between the end of 1950s to the 1970s was based on the perspective of "severance"; thus, raising the needs for the starting point of a new perspective. It is my conviction that meta perspective on writing is most essential in order to lay a solid basis for the Korean art scene to have a productive discussion. I feel the utmost necessity to reinterpret the typified history analysis and criticism which stemmed from the trauma under the Japanese colonization. The most urgent task is to avoid academic closeness and to share the research. Painting is an individual expression of the artist, but the act of expression is not free from the cultural and societal influence to which the artist belongs.

It also aims to determine Korean-Chinese compatriots to recognize the necessity for History education. Research design, data, and methodology - In this study, two parts were examined, which were the analysis on the influence of history education and the Korean-Chinese compatriots' adaptation to Korean society. In the case of data survey, Korean-Chinese compatriots were selected who are living in Korea. The survey was conducted using the samples of 200 questionnaires in total. Results - The results of the analysis shows that their residence adaptation in Korea has a positive impact on future nationality. Moreover, the residence adaptation in Korea has positive implications for their future nationality and their longer residence duration in Korea has an effect on their hope for living in Korea. Conclusions - The study showed the historical consciousness and related demographic characteristics of Korean compatriots living in Korea. It also showed that the longer their education duration for Korean history in China, the more difficult their adaptation would be. Therefore, the long term effects of adaptation depended on the emphasis of Korean history.

  • There is great enthusiasm among many mathematics educators to seek to understand how mathematical history can be employed to emphasize the usefulness of mathematics and to make it even more useful. This study focused on reviewing the history of mathematics to provide a 'source of insight.' In this study, the reasons for including the history of mathematics in the mathematics curriculum were divided into three domains: cognitive, affective, and sociocultural. Each domain included the followings: mathematical thinking and understanding; development of a positive attitude and increase motivation; and last, humanistic facets and sociocultural experience. At the same time, we need to develope a pedagogical approach that allows educators to use history properly. Furthermore, we must integrate the historical topics into regular curricula including the syllabus historically-informed grounds.

  • This study was conducted to evaluate the quality in medical records by analyzing its completeness through setting up the level of record on the patient's past history and through examining the actual medial records. Targeting the information on the patient's past history in interns' records, residents' records and nurses' records toward 403 inpatients who were admitted first in 2004 at an university hospital due to stomach cancer. We analyzed whether the charts were recorded or not, recording level, the satisfaction with the expectant level of the records in the hospital targeted for a research and the level of agreement. The results were as follows; first, as for the rate of recording those each items, they were high in the chief complaint & present illness and the past illness history. Depending on the group of recorders, the recording rate showed big difference by items. Second, as a result of measuring the level after dividing the recording level of items for the patient's past history from Level 1 to Level 4 by each item, the admission history, the past illness history, and the family history were about Level 3, and the smoking history, the medication history, the chief complaint & present illness, the drinking history and allergy were about Level 2. In the admission department, it was excellent in the interns' records for the medical department. Third, as a result of its satisfactory level by comparing the expect level of a record and the actual record by item in information on the patient's past history, which was expected by the medical-record committee members of the hospital targeted for a study. And forth, we analyzed the level of agreement with Kappa score in the level of 'Yes' or 'None' related to the corresponding matter in Level 1, in terms of information on the past history in the intern's record, the resident's record, and the nurse's record. The level of agreement in the resident's record & the nurse's record, and in the intern's record & the resident's record was from "excellent" to "a little good". There were differences in the level of completeness and in reliability for the information on the past history by the recorder group or by the admission department. The encounter process that was performed by the admission department or the recorder group, indicated the result that was directly reflected on the quality of medical records, thus it was required further study about the medical record documentation process and quality of care. The items that showed the high recording rate quantitatively were rather low, consequently we'd should develop the tool for the qualitative inspection and evaluate the medical records further. And the items were needed to be detailed in the record level were rather low, and hence there needed to be a documentation guideline and education by the clinical departments.

This paper is emphasized on the need for the oral history-related projects to lead to various museum activities including exhibitions and educations and so on. As a practical example of this, to explore the future directions and tasks for oral history projects in museums 'A Research Project of Producing Oral History Video Clips for the Exhibition of IMF Financial Crisis Situations' of National Museum of Korean Contemporary History is analyzed. This research argues that oral history functions as an exhibition representation device that more actively reveal the reality of a specific historical event.
