  • According to the change of life environment and economic growth, the more city has highly developed, the more concentrated urban function. That is, city is required for adding infra structure. But, both of limited land resources and financial problems made it impossible to add infra structure. So, the necessity of multi-dimensional planning of urban infra structure was recognized. Especially, In Urban residential area, in order to secure parking area, It is on the increase that mixed-use of the playground of school in the high density area and the empty space of park. School and park is closely connected with town community, playing a central role on town life. For this reason, they are highly demanded for providing space in the urban residential area and also expected to be effective. However, people using park and school are almost young students and the elderly, it needs to consider not only the parking convenience also the safety of users in design process. In this study, we analysed the physical characteristics and the utilization of mixed-use of school and park. and then evaluated the case in the point of convenience and safety. For this, first we selected the case among the sites constructed in seoul, and divided 2type of 'slope type' and 'flatland type'. The meaning of this study is to suggest elementary standards for design in the point of multi-dimensional land use planning.

  • This study attempted to develop integrated family policy. For this purpose, a delphi survey was conducted twice among 15 professionals regarding the general contents of family policy, the goals and outcomes of president Roh's administration, the direction and plan of action for future family policy. The results of this study are as follows: Firstly, the main results of president Roh's administration were the creation of the Ministry of Women and Families, and the Healthy Families Law. Nevertheless, that government had no long-term vision or action programs. Secondly, there are two aspects of family policy which one is family members based and the other is family life cycle based. Accordingly the subjects of this study insist that family policy has to cover people's whole life, all families regardless of family structure, and has to integrate the plans and programs which have been served to individuals, for example, women, child, youth, and elderly. Thirdly, the orientations of future family policy are to be toward happiness, health, equality, coexistence, harmony, growth, generosity, diversity, self-control, and a sustainable society. So the concept of the integrated family policy has to cover all aspects of the family and the diversity of family life. Therefore, the service delivery system for family policy has to converge into the Healthy Family Center.

  • Objectives : The purpose of this study was to show the corelation between age-related muscular mass and the change of exercise, muscle mass and muscular strength by comparison of muscle strength. Methods : 39 volunteers of all the patients who come to Dangjin health center between May and June in 2009 were classified as group A and group B according to age. Demographic data of these two groups have been done a comparative analysis, using the t-test procedure and linear regression analysis. Results : The results and summarized as follows. 1. Demographic data of these two groups have been done a comparative analysis, using the t-test procedure. As a result the average exercise and the average pulse have a statistically significant difference according to age. 2. Each of average fat, muscle and muscular strength in these two groups have been done a omparative analysis, using the t-test procedure. As a result there is no statistically significant according to age. 3. According to the result analyzed by using linear regression analysis, age have a negative effect on muscle but there is no statistically meaningful. Exercising have a positive effect on muscle and there is statistically significant. 4. Age and Protein diet have a negative effect on Grip strength but there is no statistically significant Conclusions : From this result, it can be assumed that the amount of exercise is decreasing with age, which leads to lose some muscle mass.

  • Public expenditures on long-term care are a matter of concern for Korea as in many other countries. The expenditure is expected to accelerate and to put pressure on public budgets, adding to that arising from insufficient retirement schemes and other forms of social spending. This study tried to foresee how much health care spending could increase in the future considering demographic and non-demographic factors as the drivers of expenditure. Previous projections of future long-term expenditure were mainly based on a given relation between spending and age structure. However, although demographic factors will surely put upward pressure on long-term care costs, other non-demographic factors, such as labor cost increase and availability of informal care, should be taken into account as well. Also, the possibility of dynamic link between health status and longevity gains needs to be considered. The model in this study is cell-base and consists of three main parts. The first part estimated the numbers of elderly people with different levels of health status by age group, gender, household type. The second part estimated the levels of long-term care services required, by attaching a probability of receiving long-term care services to each cell using from the sample from current year. The third part of the model estimated long-term care expenditure, along the demographic and non-demographic factors' change in various scenarios. Public spending on long-term care could rise from the current level of 0.2~0.3% of GDP to around 0.44~2.30% by 2040.

  • Background: This study examined the relationships of dementia, stroke, and combined multimorbidity with long-term care utilizations among older people in South Korea. Methods: A nationally representative sample of 10,130 older adults who used long-term care services in 2010 were analyzed. We used the 5% sample of aged 65 years or older linked with National Health Insurance Corporation registry data of long-term care insurance system. The sample was categorized into three groups: dementia only (47.6%), stroke only (36.3%), and both dementia and stroke (16.1%). We estimated the use of institutional care, home care, and total expenditure of long-term care services, adjusting for the severity of each function (such as daily life, behavior or cognitive change, nursing care needs, and rehabilitation care needs) and sociodemographic characteristics. Results: Having dementia symptoms was positively associated with the use of institutional care services, on the other hand, having stroke symptoms was positively related with the use of home care. The total long-term care cost was higher in the group of having both dementia and stroke. Conclusion: Older persons with dementia symptoms and stroke symptoms have different patterns of long-term care utilization, and the multimorbidity increased the overall expenditure of long-term care utilization. These findings imply a need for differentiated management strategy targeting physically and cognitively impaired older persons, and special concerning for persons with multimorbidity conditions for long-term care insurance program in Korea.

  • Nanometric Lactobacillus plantarum nF1 (nLp-nF1) is a biogenics consisting of dead L. plantarum cells pretreated with heat and a nanodispersion process. In this study, we investigated the immune-enhancing effects of nLp-nF1 in vivo and in vitro. To evaluate the immunostimulatory effects of nLp-nF1, mice immunosuppressed by cyclophosphamide (CPP) treatment were administered with nLp-nF1. As expected, CPP restricted the immune response of mice, whereas oral administration of nLp-nF1 significantly increased the total IgG in the serum, and cytokine production (interleukin-12 (IL-12) and tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-${\alpha}$)) in bone marrow cells. Furthermore, nLp-nF1 enhanced the production of splenic cytokines such as IL-12, TNF-${\alpha}$, and interferon gamma (IFN-${\gamma}$). In vitro, nLp-nF1 stimulated the immune response by enhancing the production of cytokines such as IL-12, TNF-${\alpha}$, and IFN-${\gamma}$. Moreover, nLp-nF1 given a food additive enhanced the immune responses when combined with various food materials in vitro. These results suggest that nLp-nF1 could be used to strengthen the immune system and recover normal immunity in people with a weak immune system, such as children, the elderly, and patients.

  • This study was carried out to know the food habits of 200 persons, 89 males and 111 females, aged 60 years and over from June 13 to July 2, 1977 in Seoul. The results are summarized as follows: 1. Changes of the food preferences The preferences about foods after 60 years of age showed in lower scores of dislikes than those before and, however, were not significantly changed. Beef was the item which 75% of the subjects liked and was the highest in desire to eat, Likes for hot, salty, and sour taste except sweet were diminished but they generally liked hot or sweet food rather than sour or salty one and also warm dish rather than cold one. A majority of them wanted to have their meals cook more soft and tender. 2. Intakes of foods The average consumptions of the basic food groups per capita per day were 475.5g of males .and 431.8g of females for cereals and grains, 119.6g and 103.6g for meats add legumes, 221.7g and 216. lg for fruits and vegetables, 52.6g and 39.4g for milk and small fishes, and 5.0g and 4.7g for fats and oils. 3. Intakes of calorie and nutrients The percentage contributions of three nutrients, carbohydrate, protein, and fats to the total amounts of calories were 75.9, 12.4, and 11.7% of mates and 75.6, 12.4, and 12.0% of females. Women had a slightly higher percentage of caloric intake to RDA than men who didn't satisfy RDA. The subjects revealed an insufficient protein intake as well as calcium. Therefore, many older people have to be convinced of the importance of milk for both nutrients. The mean ratios for iron, niacin, and thiamin intake were higher than RDA and on the contrary. those for riboflavin, vitamin A, and ascorbic acid intake were below RDA. It seems necessary, for the aged to maintain good state of health, to promote their appetite, and to take regular mealtime because difficulty of teeth, illness, irregular mealtime, and loss of appetite had influence on less intakes of calorie and nutrients.
