The linear regression method was used to model the relationship among a set of perceptions regarding to the importance of physical exercise and the perceived value of physical exercise (as a leisure activity) for aging baby boomers. In terms of a pilot study, we developed two alternative models tested at two different convenience samples. The first sample consisted of 82 aging baby boomers aged 55.65 (sample 1) and the second one consisted of 458 citizens aged 18.45 (sample 2). Through this research approach, we intended to lead to a better understanding of perceived value of physical exercise in the sporting goods marketing context for aging baby boomers. We addressed the core research themes of our study using a convenience survey. Data was collected by means of face to face interviews during the seven week period. The research results showed that the "model 2" better predicts perceived value of physical exercise as a leisure activity for aging baby boomers. We believe that the final findings of our research try can recognize the differences in buying behaviors between aging baby boomers and other target markets and advance marketers of sporting goods strategic tries regarding to consumer strategy management at a store level.

Baby boomers are often defined by their support of their parents and their devotion to their children's educational success by providing financial and emotional aids. Now, 7.12 million baby boomers in South Korea are retiring, or are about to retire, without any retirement plans. Similar to financial stability, health, and leisure life, social capital is another important element in the quality life after retirement. This is because social capital can function as a potential resource network. Social capital is a source that provides money, information, goods, services, emotional aids, social relational opportunities etc. In the past, family and community provided social capital for the aged. However, the baby boomer generation cannot expect the same. The baby boomers have the task of creating new social capital that can assure their quality of life. Therefore, this study examines cohort characteristics of the baby boomer generation and, based on the examination, seeks an alternative for social capital. The results are as follows: First, social capital from the local community can be an alternative source of caring for the baby boomers in old age. Second, among the social capital of the local community, elderly care supported by a family friendly community is proposed. In addition, baby boomers must become the primary social capital that contributes to a mature civil society rather than a beneficiary of welfare for the aged.

As ICT technology develops rapidly and social and consumer interactions require more knowledge of the technology, the interest for baby boomers' ICT technology acceptance is increasing as they age. However, previous studies have limitations as they lack a systematic and in-depth understanding of this phenomenon in which the emerging elderly population embraces emerging technology. To overcome this limitation, this study carried out a phenomenological study on baby boomers' ICT technology acceptance. In addition, since existing studies have just simply listed variables or proved the relationship between a few variables, this study aimed to find the relationship between variables by analyzing the data obtained through semi-structured interviews. Through this procedure, it was aimed to construct conceptual model which illustrates the relationships between variables so that understanding the phenomenon of baby boomers' acceptance of ICT technology with a holistic view could be possible. The ten variables suggested by Lee & Coughlin (2015) that cover multiple sides of baby boomers' technology acceptance were used. As a result, we found that there is a sequential relationship between these variables and different agents can be related to each variable in sequence. Also, from an ecological perspective, we analyzed baby boomers and their surroundings to find agents involved in this phenomenon.
The purpose of the study was to examine the determinants of financial well-being of the baby boomers. With data on 1,789 households from the 1998 Survey of Consumer Finances, the study provided a profile of baby boomers using demands, resources, financial attitudes, and financial practices. The descriptive statistics showed that 18% of the baby boomers were financially well off showing that they met the guidelines for two financial ratios: liquidity and solvency ratio. The results of logistic analysis on the measures of financial well-being revealed that financial management practices played an important role in predicting boomer's financial well-being. This suggested a positive approach of financial education to the baby boomers to help them manage their current finance well as well as prepare for their retirement.
The principle of aging-in-place should be fundamental in designing post-retirement homes to support baby boomers' healthy aging in their current living conditions. This study investigated Korean-American baby boomers' opinions about their life images in their post-retirement homes and the needs for supportive services therein. A questionnaire survey was conducted, and a total of 247 responses were used for statistical analyses. As the most important life image for their post-retirement homes, baby boomers emphasized the living environments offering various recreational activities. They indicated the post-retirement homes close to their children or family members as the next important life image. These opinions differed depending on their socioeconomic characteristics. In particular, baby boomers with higher-income preferred housing environments offering diverse recreational activities while those with lower-income preferred the housing close to more employment opportunities. In terms of supportive services available in the post-retirement homes, they wanted 'healthcare assistance services' and 'diverse recreational programs.' Gender, educational attainment, and annual income affected their preferences in these services, though. Based on the findings, this study concluded that post-retirement housing environments should create spaces to accommodate various recreational activities and include places for them to work in near-home environments. In the community, various need-based customized recreational activities and educational programs should be planned considering different socioeconomic characteristics of baby boomers. All these considerations will provide supportive residential environments for their successful aging in place.

This study was conducted in order to assess the effect of variables influencing Korean baby-boomers' welfare consciousness. For this purpose, data from the $8^{th}$ supplementary survey of the Korea Welfare Panel in 2013 were analyzed. The subjects of analysis were 2,035 people who were born between 1955 and 1965 whose welfare panel data did not have missing values for the variables of the research model. According to the results of analysis, first, when the descriptive statistics of the major variables were analyzed, those showing a relatively high mean score among the sub-factors of the baby-boomers' welfare consciousness were 'expansion of expenditure for public assistance' (mean 3.65, SD .557), 'expansion of expenditure for social insurance' (mean 3.53, SD .646), and 'expansion of expenditure for social services' (mean 3.26, SD .424). The mean score of the baby-boomers' overall welfare consciousness was relatively high as 3.45 (SD .428), advocating the expansion of welfare expenditure. Second, the independent variables influencing the baby-boomers' welfare consciousness was found to have explanatory power of 12.9%. In the results of regression analysis, variables found to have a significant effect were gender (B=.100, t=2.573, p<.01), personal responsibility for poverty (B=-.151, t=-3.635, p<.01), social responsibility for poverty (B=.149, t=3.437, p<.001), and recipient's laziness (B=.251, t=6.578, p<.001). Based on these results were discussed major relevant policies.
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to measure suicidal ideation and to investigate the affecting factors in male baby boomers using Korea Health Panel Data 2011. Methods: The Korea Health Panel Data 2011 were collected from June to December 2011 by Korea Institute for Health and Social Affairs and National Health Insurance Corporation and included 908 people who responded to the question regarding suicidal ideation. The data were analyzed by chi-square and multiple logistic regression using SPSS WIN 20.0 program. Results: The ratio of suicidal ideation was 6.1% in male baby boomers. Affecting factors of suicidal ideation in male baby boomers showed that presence of depression, frustrating experience, and regular diet had more suicidal ideation by 10.90 times (CI 5.14-23.18), 7.78 times (CI 1.98-30.51), 3.38 times (CI 1.65-6.90), respectively. Conclusion: This study is meaningful as an attempt to measure suicidal ideation and to analyze affecting factors with suicidal ideation in male baby boomers. Further study including careful and thorough examination may be needed.
The purpose of this research is to analyze the wealth effects of home-owning baby-boomers on household consumption on non-durable goods in the Seoul Metropolitan Area. In so doing, this empirical study utilized the Korean Labor and Income Panel Study (KLIPS) of 2002 and 2012. The statistical findings reveal that household wealth in the period had sharply risen in household income, asset, debt and consumption, and the substantial increase came from growing income and consumption embedded into an expansionary stage of the family life cycle. Further, housing wealth had a much greater effect on consumption expenditure than did financial asset in 2012 while financial wealth effect was larger than housing wealth effect in 2002. Housing wealth effects had become far stronger as the age of the baby-boomer householders increased. As the baby-boomers are close to the retirement stage, post-retirement income security becomes of concern, so that the wealth effect of real estate income as an income alternative for retirees is explicit. The results imply that retirement of baby-boomers is likely to reduce consumer spending, aggravating slowdown of the real economy. Thus, diversification of household asset portfolio in a pre-retirement period is of great significance in maintaining adequate household consumption in later life.

This study, based on a health belief model, examines how baby boomers perceive health and how they are financially preparing for future medical expenses. In addition, the study analyzes which factors influence baby boomers' preparation behaviors for future medical expenses and their perceived sufficiency of the preparation for medical expenses. Through such activities, this study examines baby boomers' current preparation status for future medical expenses, and based on this outcome, will turn the attention of individuals and society toward becoming more concerned with health and increasing health expectancy. For this study, an online survey was conducted targeted at men and women who were born between 1955 and 1963 and live nationwide, and its resultant data were collected. After conducting a 15-day survey in November 2011, a total of 418 questionnaire responses were used for the final analysis. The major findings of this study and their implications are as follows: First, baby boomers' health beliefs and their perceptions of health identified by subjective health conditions were very positive. Second, while there were some partial differences in the influencing factors, health beliefs and perceived health influenced the sufficiency of future medical expenses in the three groups, which were segmented according to how they prepare for future medical expenses-insurance-based, pension-based, and insufficiently prepared groups. Third, the baby boomers selected the national health insurance as the primary means of preparing for post-retirement medical expenses, and backed it up with private health insurance or the national pension. In addition, when baby boomers' perceived sufficiency of future medical expenses were examined, 57.6% of the respondents expressed that their old-age medical expenses were not sufficient. Fourth, in terms of baby boomers' preparation behaviors for future medical expenses, it was revealed that as one recognizes old-age health more seriously, he/she has a higher chance of using insurance and lower chance of using a pension to prepare for medical expenses. Fifth, regarding baby boomers' sufficiency of preparations for future medical expenses, economic factors such as total assets, the sufficiency of retirement assets, and the number of insurance policies, as well as health perceptions, including health beliefs and subjective health conditions, were important influencing factors.
The purpose of this study was to explore the factors related to depression of married baby-boomer female by employment status. Data for this study was based on a convenience sample of 499 married female baby-boomer who have residence in Busan and Gyeongnam province. The prevalence rate of depression symptoms was 21.4%. The employment status made differences on the factors related to depression of married female baby boomers. Depressive symptoms were significantly associated with attitudes toward menopause, menopausal symptoms and marital satisfaction for both baby-boomer female with and without a job. While monthly household income, participation in voluntary associations and satisfaction with children were significantly related to depression symptoms of baby-boomer female without employment, perimenopausal stage, perceived size of social network was important factors for the depression of married female baby boomers with a job.
