  • This study aimed to explore alignments among three curricula based on the contents of the university level curriculum. The 2015 revised curriculum, International Baccalaureate(IB), and Next Generation Science Standards(NGSS) were selected for this study, and a college textbook was analyzed to compare the curricula. As the age groups studying the curricular were different, we reorganized them according to school ages prior to conducting the study. The results of the analysis were: first, the contents of the 2015 revised curriculum did not sufficiently elaborate on the natural hazards related to humans, unlike the university level, IB PYP, and NGSS curricula. Third, there are different ways of introducing scientific vocabulary curricula, meaning that the number of scientific vocabularies in the 2015 revised curriculum was less than that in the IB, PYP, and NGSS.

Followings are the results: 1. 96% of the teachers supported the necessity of school education on environment, but only 51% went for adopting environment as an independent subject. 2. The majority of 57% said that they came to recognize environment and environmental issues 'through media such as TV and radio'. For the desirable form of environmental education, 64% supported 'field study or experience activity'. As for the undermining factors, the majority of 50% cited 'excessive focus of school education on college entrance' and 29% 'limitations of class hours'. 3. With regard to their interests in environment and environmental issues, they were between 3.43~4.08 point range out of 5 points. For their sensitivity about the seriousness of environment and environmental problems, the survey showed the range of 3.49~4.28 points out of 5 points. 4. There was no remarkable difference in the level of recognition between male and female teacher. But, according to disparity of age, teachers who are in their forties and fifties recognized better than teachers in twenties and thirties. • In present study, using 1572 low-income families and 266 Head Start teachers from Family and Child Experiences Survey (FACES) in the U.S., we examined the effects of mothers' reading and the characteristics of interaction between teacher-child interaction on 4-and 5-year-olds' cognitive development represented by their verbal and numerical abilities. Frequencies of mothers' reading at home consistently predicted higher scores of children's Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test and Woodcock Johnson Applied Problems. Teachers' sensitivity and permissiveness in their interactions with children in classroom were positively related to children's verbal abilities and teachers' sensitivity predicted better numerical abilities of children after controlling for mothers' reading and the characteristics of family and teacher. The findings shed light on the contributions of teacher behaviors and familial factors to children's cognitive development calling for attention to the need for parent education on cognitively stimulating family environments and continuing education for early childhood teachers focusing on quality interactions with young children.

  • Outsourcing, importing of publishing metadata and revitalizing copy cataloging have reduced importance of traditional cataloging. Request of interoperability between other communities and business integration of related system also have changed the meaning of library catalog. Furthermore, newly declared principle and rules are totally different to existing AACR, MARC, measures to cataloging education for next generation seems to be urgently needed. In this study, firstly put together a series of discussion about future cataloging and new role of cataloging librarian, and secondly basis on it, suggest direction of cataloging education course which divided two sectors. One is for students who are undergraduated, and another is for current cataloger at working level. In basic training, it should contain principle of knowledge organization and diverse resources and its relationship, encoding scheme and its practice. The other hand, in re-education training, it should include that re-recognition about new concept of bibliographic world, changing vocabulary and encoding scheme, furthermore metadata scheme about diverse resources which library have accepted, and its integration.

  • The writing styles of TIME and Newsweek are analyzed using a specially developed linguistic program. These two news magazines were chosen because of their wide popularity. As for the results, it became obvious that both the frequency curve of words and that of characters have not changed for the past 60 years. Also, we have found that the frequency curves have some inflection points and that the genre of English writings can be identified by these points. After counting the percentage of required vocabulary for junior high school students and high school students in English writings, we can derive the relative difficulties of them using fuzzy reasoning. Fuzzy rules are constructed using features of the characteristic curves. We feel it would be a good guide index when selecting textbooks or supplementary readers.

  • The purpose of the study was to decide Korean translation and the copying period of "Korean Translation of " and to look all around their characteristics in different versions carefully until now. The "Korean Translation" is a collection of Korean-translated romance and love stories excavated by a professor Kim,Il Geun, and there is not a little meaning in the context of novel history in the point of view of 'Korean translation of a court possession'. Arranging conclusion of the study generally, it is as follows. (1) Considering phonological phenomena, grammar and vocabulary in the study of Korean language, it is presumed that they would be translated into Korean and copied between the regime period of the King Sukjong and the regime period of the King Yungjo in the Joseon Dynasty. For, they were composed of a middle declaration of copied 'Myeoknambon "Korean Translation of Taepyeonggwanggi(태평광기)"' and 'NakseonJaebon(낙선재본)' between the middle of the 17th century and the middle of the 18th century and the regime period of the King Jeongjo in the Joseon Dynasty appointed as the background period of the novels should be excepted. Consequently, through the Korean Translation, we can confirm that the novel scope between the 17th century and the 18th century in Korean novel history was widened until 'The Royal Court' and 'Women'. (2) In the side of vocabulary, the "Korean Translation" also has not a little meaning in the side of a collection translated in the Royal Court. It doesn't have new vocabularies, but partial vocabularies as '(Traces:痕)' '(Clean eyes:明眸)', ' (Sail:帆)', '(Get up:起)', '글이플(Weak grass:弱草)', '쇼록(Owl:? 梟 or 鴉?)', '이 사라심(This life:此生)', and '노혀오매(Look for:訪)' are good data in the study of Korean language. (3) The "Korean Translation" is a valuable data about translation and copying of a court novel and we can discover intentionally changed parts and partially omitted sentences rather in the than in the . There are differences between a translation book and a copying book and we can catch sight of intention of translation and unsettledness of copying in the second work. Therefore, we can know that the "Korean Translation" has a double context which one work is translated and a work in different version is derived, compared to a simple copy. (4) The "Korean Translation" has a close relation with "Hangoldong(閒汨董)", but it doesn't regard the same copy as a foundation. The basic copy of translation of the "Korean Translation" is a different version of the same line as "Hangoldong" and "Jeochobon(저초본:정명기 소장본)" and is more similar line to "Hangoldong", but it is also not the same basic copy. (5) Considering that the "Korean Translation" doesn't has a distinct relation with the "Hangoldong", there is no correlation between the "Korean Translation" and and the "Hangoldong" and . In addition, we could not discover a writer's identity between the two.

  • The purposes of this study were to analyze the level of Earth science vocabularies in the 10th grade textbooks with the Science Word Analysis (SWA) program and to investigate the vocabularies selected by the 10th grade students as difficult ones. For this purpose, we extracted the Earth science vocabularies from eleven textbooks, and classified into scientific and non-scientific vocabularies with the SWA program based on the standard Korean language dictionary. In addition, we investigated the difficulty of each vocabulary by surveying five hundred sixty students with a questionnaire. Results showed that the frequency of the scientific vocabularies that were beyond the designated level was the largest among any other levels in all textbooks. Most of the vocabularies selected by students as difficult ones to understand were classified into out of the level. From these results, it were suggested that the students' cognitive level should be considered when developing science textbooks and difficult vocabularies should be replaced with easy ones without a change of meaning.
