Pharmacopuncture, or herbal acupuncture, is a new form of therapy derived from combinations of two traditional therapeutic methods, herbal medicine and acupuncture therapy. To compare the efficacy between loratadine-pharmacopuncture (LP) and loratadine-oral administration (LO), the effect of loratadine was investigated in murine models. Anti-anaphylactic effects of loratadine treatments were investigated in compound 48/80-induced systemic anaphylactic reaction and passive cutaneous anaphylaxis (PCA). LP treatment significantly inhibited the compound 48/80-induced systemic anaphylactic reaction and PCA. The effect between LP and LO were on a similar level. These results indicate that LP can be used as an alternative method for LO in case of emergency.

To compare the efficacy between dexamethasone-pharmacopuncture (DP) and dexamethasone-oral administration (DO), the effect of DP was investigated in murine models. Anti-anaphylactic effects of dexamethasone treatments were investigated in compound 48/80-induced systemic anaphylactic reaction, ear swelling response, and passive cutaneous anaphylaxis (PCA). DP treatment significantly inhibited the compound 48/80-induced systemic anaphylactic reaction, ear swelling response, and PCA. The effects between DP and DO were on a similar level. These results indicate that DP can be used as an alternative method for DO in case of emergency.

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to investigate liver function test results in admitted patients before and after herbal treatment. Methods: 54 subjects admitted to hospital had liver function tests (aspartate aminotransferase, alanine amino transferase, alkaline phosphatase, total bilirubin) before and after herbal treatment from 1 March 2017 to 30 June 2019. Results: Aspartate aminotransferase, alanine aminotransferase, and alkaline phosphatase were not significantly changed (p>0.05). On admission, 11 patients had abnormal liver function, while seven patients had abnormal results in alkaline phosphatase upon discharge. Three of the seven were normal when they were hospitalized. Conclusions: This study suggests that herbal treatment may have no effect on liver injury.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to report the improvement of tracheal granuloma after herbal medicine treatment. Methods: A patient with tracheal granuloma was treated with Sipyukmiyuki-eum, and we checked laryngoscopy images to observe the improvement of this condition. Results: After treatment with Sipyukmiyuki-eum and Korean medicine therapy, we found that tracheal granuloma showed improvements in the laryngoscopy image. Conclusion: This case suggests that Sipyukmiyuki-eum might be effective for patients who develop tracheal granuloma after tracheostomy. However, additional studies with more patients are required to verify this finding.

This report is about a case of an ataxia patient with sensory loss diagnosed with thalamic Infarction. The patient had symtoms of gait disturbances and dysmetria. We used Korean medicine treatment modalities including acupunture, electroacupuncture, moxibustion and herb medicines. The improvement of ataxia was evaluated by International Cooperative Ataxia Rating Scale and Balance master^Ⓡ system. After treatment, decreased scores of International Cooperative Ataxia Rating Scale and change of the trace of Balance master^Ⓡ system showed that symtoms of ataxia were improved. Sensory deficits and other conditions were also getting better. This report suggests that Korean medicine could have a therapeutic effect for Thalamic ataxia.

A 56-year-old Korean female patient developed generalized morphea over three months. We focused on imbalance of the neuroendocrine-immune axis, mainly using Jiawei-Renshengyangrong-tang and Jiawei-Siqi-tang. Moxibustion on LU9 was conducted for skin symptoms. The patient's modified localized scleroderma skin severity index score decreased from 22 to 6 over 22 weeks of treatment and to 4 during a 3-month follow-up. Her verbal rating scale score for general symptoms decreased from 17 to 1 during the 22-week treatment.

This study was aimed at investigating the syndrome differentiation and herbal medicine of Thromboangiitis Obliterans by reviewing Chinese traditional medicine's journals. The journal search was carried out using China National Knowledge Infrastructure(CNKI) and PubMed from September 2009 to August 2014. Searching key words were the various combination of "Thromboangiitis Obliterans", "traditional chinese medicine", "syndrome differentiation", "herbal medicine". The final selection of 33 studies were selected and summarized by researchers. The syndrome differentiation was classified as yang deficiency, cold syncope and blood stasis. The most frequently herbs were blood-activating and stasis-resolving medicinals.
