A Comparative Study of Ophthalmic Spectacle Lenses Standards (시력보정용 안경렌즈의 규격에 관한 비교 고찰)

  • This study surveyed differences among KS, ISO, JIS and ANSI ophthalmic spectacle lenses standards. These standards applied to several lenses that were in common currency and we checked over problems and improvements in KS. KS corresponded to ISO, for the most part, and ANSI, partly. But terms, definitions, progressive power lenses standards, UV transmittance and base curves clauses did not exist in KS. There was no differences between nominal data and actual data in important clauses estimation-minimum requirements on refractive power, tolerances on the size of lenses, material and surface quality. But tolerances of thickness, base curves, UV and visible transmittance values were not existing, there were differences among several ophthalmic spectacle lenses in the test of these clauses. These requirements will be needed for better and more comfortable vision.

An Integrated Management System for KS and ISO 9001 Certification (KS인증과 ISO 9001인증의 통합운영에 관한 연구)

  • In spite of some similarities between KS(Korean Industrial Standards) certification audit criteria and ISO 9001 certification requirements, most of companies manage the two certification systems independently. In this study, we analyze two certification systems, find common points and propose a model or guideline of the integrated system management for small companies. This research compares KS criteria with ISO requirements in detail. A survey is carried out to check and review the situation of the manufacturers which obtain both KS and ISO 9001 certification. Survey results show that there is a small difference in certification management according to company's size, but some benefit points of the integration management regardless of company's size.

  • Revision of KS, Korean Standards, is currently actively discussed. It is just the time for a new world class standards under the new system with WTO, World Trade Organization. This paper is a part of "Researches on the Standards in the Building Acoustic Field", as one of KS revision projects. The aim of this study is to define the requirements for measuring the reverberation time of rooms with reference to other acoustical parameters. In the former KS, there is no items matched with this purpose. Therefore measuring reverberation time and other room acoustical parameters with confidential test procedure was impossible. On these basis, a new part of KS is proposed, and some problems remained and further discussions in the proposed draft are described in this study.

  • This study is to present empirical data about the needs for quality security of aggregate by randomly selecting aggregate from 4 major locations including A, B, C, D province in Korea, by investigating its quality status in terms of physical properties and particle distribution based on Korean industrial standards(KS). The test results indicated that wide variance in quality, and some of aggregate samples were far below the standard, still many of them are not satisfying KS standards. In addition, the current aggregate manufacturing process that does not include inspection of particle size distribution by sieving and fineness modulus, can induce a possibility of non-KS aggregate's distribution; this provide that the current status of aggregate quality security of Korea is seriously threatened. Thus, it is important to secure each aggregate's quality level under KS standards.
