The effect of treatment was evaluated by Visual Analog Scale(VAS) and motor examination of Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale(UPDRSIII). Both VAS of jaw tremor symptom and agitation and UPDRSIII score of tremor were decreased. The result suggest the combination treatment of herbal medicine and acupuncture might be effective for the jaw tremor with agitation.

Methods : We studied Korean Medicine Utilization and Herbal Medicine Consumption Survey(2017) data set by complex-sample survey data analysis. In order to derive the characteristics of younger users, Rao-scott χ2 test and t-test were conducted. Through multiple logistic regression model adjusted by general characteristic variables, the determinants and behavioral intentions of the Korean Medicine utilization among youths were derived. Results : Fist of all, young users and non-users have significant differences in socio-demographic characteristics and perception on Korean Medicine. Among the general characteristic variables, region, age, marital status, occupation, chronic disease, and private health insurance plans had an effect on the Korean Medicine use in young people(Model II). And adjusted by general characteristic variables as control variables, awareness of Korean Medicine and perception of safety of herbal medicine were deduced as determinants of Korean Medicine use(Model III). Secondly, Korean Medicine use experience increased intentions to use and recommend Korean Medicine services(Model IV-1, 3). Conclusions : In order to increase the use of Korean Medicine among young people, Korean Medicine institutions should strive to increase users' satisfaction, and public health insurance coverage for Korean Medicine services needs to be expanded.

  • Leukopenia is a commonly encountered adverse event experienced by cancer patients. It can cause serious infections and delays in chemotherapy. We describe a case of leukopenia induced by colon cancer chemotherapy. After acupuncture treatment, the patient showed improvement in the leukopenia and completed the scheduled chemotherapy without delay or additional administration of granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF). Therefore, acupuncture may have a substantial benefit for treatment of leukopenia in this patient.

  • Objective: The aim of this study was to report a case in which Korean medicine treatment with Gami-daebo-tang and acupuncture improved the clinical symptoms in a patient with Wallenberg syndrome. Methods: The patient was treated for 53 days with a Korean medicine treatment consisting of Gami-daebo-tang and acupuncture. We measured dysesthesia based on the number of affected dermatomes. Gait ataxia was estimated with the Korean version of the Berg Balance Scale (K-BBS) and the number of times that the patient had stumbled per day. Dizziness was measured with a numerical rating score (NRS). Results: After treatment, the number of affected dermatomes was decreased. The K-BBS score was improved from 52 to 56, and the frequency of stumbling decreased from 20 to 0 times per day. The NRS score of dizziness decreased from 8 to 0. Conclusion: This case showed that Korean medicine treatment might be helpful for improving the symptoms of patients with Wallenberg syndrome.

  • In this Case Report, a patient with Buerger's disease who had a leg amputation below his lower right knee and a vascular bypass of right leg, developed a wound caused by his prosthetic leg and subjective discomfort. The patient received skin flap surgery but the wound did not heal properly. He was admitted to the Korean Medicine Hospital where his wound, right leg coldness, and phantom pain were treated with combined Korean medicine. The patient was hospitalized again where he underwent micro-drilling surgery. The patient was re-admitted to the Korean Medicine Hospital where he received combined Korean medicine treatment (CKMT) and carbon arc light treatment (CALT) for his wound, leg coldness, stiffness, and hypoplasia. The temperature of his right leg increased, the numeric rating scale score for assessing pain fell from 5 to 1.5, and subjective discomfort was reduced (< 20%) suggesting this may be an effective treatment.

  • This study aimed to evaluate clinical practice guidelines (CPGs) for ankle sprains using the Appraisal of Guidelines for Research and Evaluation II tool, using electronic databases (GIN, PubMed, EMBASE, NCKM, CNKI, CiNii, WanFang database, RISS, and SCOPUS), to suggest strategies for improvement in the future. The search was performed on April 23, 2021 and 10 CPGs were selected for evaluation. Three CPGs were recommended without modification (Class A scores), five were recommended with modification (Class B), and two were not recommended (Class C scores). The CPG domain that received the lowest score was "applicability." The traditional medicine CPGs scored higher [Class A (n = 1) and Class B (n = 1)] than the conventional Western medicine CPGs [Class A (n = 2), Class B (n = 4), and Class C (n = 2)] and were considered to be more methodical. In the future, more research into traditional medicine is required.
