Objectives: The aim of this study is to investigate the anti-inflammatory effects of Ojeok-san and compare the therapeutic effects according to its formation. Methods: We evaluated the anti-inflammatory effects of Ojeok-san using lipopolysaccharide (LPS) induced inflammatory animal model. Male SD rats were administered intra-orally with two different formulation types of Ojeok-san according to prescribed dosage. One hour later, to induce inflammatory responses, subsequent intra-peritoneal injection of LPS was conducted. After 5 hours later, serum TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6 and PGE2 levels were measured by ELISA to assess the alteration of pro-inflammatory markers. Results: In our experiment, regardless of its formation, administration of Ojeok-san decreased TNF-𝛼, IL-1𝛽, IL-6 and PGE2 level in serum. Furthermore, LPS-induced toxicity of liver and kidney was not detected by Ojeok-san administration. Conclusions: The anti-inflammatory effect of Ojeok-san was shown in LPS-induced inflammatory model by decreasing pro-inflammatory markers, and there would be no significant difference in therapeutic effect between two formulation types of Ojeok-san.

■ Objectives In this case report, we address a case of a 83-year-old female patient diagnosed with suspicious autoimmune hepatitis. ■ Methods A patient was treated with herbal medication, Injinoryung-san gagam. We evaluated the improvements of symptoms by AST, ALT, GGT, ALP and total score of Fatigue Severity Scale(FSS). ■ Results After 4 weeks of taking Injinoryung-san gagam, there were decrease in abnormal liver enzyme levels with improvement of the patient's fatigue. ■ Conclusion This study suggested that Injinoryung-san gagam might be effective in autoimmune hepatitis patient's liver enzyme levels and fatigue recovery.
To evaluate the effects of Korean medicine and Chuna treatment on patient with pain and limited range of motion (ROM) after scapular fracture. Patient was treated with Chuna manual therapy, acupuncture, herbal medicine, pharmacoacpuncture, cupping therapy and measured by ROM, visual analog scale (VAS), shoulder pain and disability index (SPADI), American shoulder elbow surgery scale (ASES), Korean shoulder score for instability (KSS). After the 3 weeks treatment, the patient's ROM, VAS, SPADI, ASES, KSS scores were improved. Rehabilitation program including Chuna manual therapy can be effectively used to improve scapular fracture patient's pain and symptom during rehabilitation period. Therefore it is recommended to use Chuna manual therapy for the improvement of movement and pain from fracture.
Objectives: Korea has a unique history of being both a recipient and a donor of Official Development Assistance (ODA), and the international community expects Korea to contribute to the development of developing countries by utilizing this experience. Traditional Korean medicine (TKM) seeks to contribute to global health, however the concept of ODA has been unclear and there has been no clear strategy and sustainable initiatives. Methods: This study examines the concept of ODA and its application in global health, including business objectives, scale, evaluation principles, and development strategies. Additionally, we reviewed the current status of Traditional Korean medicine globalization projects and conducted a SWOT analysis of the internal and external environment of the TKM sector. Based on these findings, we redefined the concept of ODA for TKM and proposed suggestions for its development. Results: The current study identified key ideas for TKM ODA. It should prioritize the improvement of primary healthcare in recipient countries, aligning with the international evaluation criteria of the SDGs. Secondly, TKM's 70 years of experience can be leveraged to enhance both the competence and economic benefits of recipient countries' medical systems. Based on these concepts, a TKM ODA development model was proposed, comprising two core visions, three development strategies and goals, and six core values. Conclusion: This study systematically examined the TKM in global health and suggested sustainable development strategies for TKM ODA. Through its expansion, TKM could contribute to the advancement of global traditional medicine and its overall engagement in healthcare.

There were no significant changes on the H&Y stage and S&E ADL scale. Conclusion : Patients with Parkinson's syndrome who visited Department of Cardiovascular and Neurologic diseases of Kyunghee Oriental Medical Center had a tendency of showing improvement in clinical symptoms.

Drug eruption is a relatively commin dermatological disorder and may cause significant problems. The treatment is to stop using a drug that may cuase a drug eruption. In some cases, steroids and antihistamines can be used supportively. According to some reports, Onchungeum(溫淸飮) has steroid-like effects and antihistaminic effects. We administered Onchungeum(溫淸飮) a patient with severe itching because of a drug eruption. After administration of Onchungeum(溫淸飮), itching decreased to much degrees. It can be suggested that Onchungeum(溫淸飮) can be used to treat symptoms of allergic skin disease like a drug eruption.

Objectives: This study aimed to review the clinical research of the gut microbiome for respiratory diseases to assist the design of trials for respiratory diseases by regulating the gut microbiome with herbal medicine later. Methods: We searched three international databases (PubMed, CENTRAL and EMBASE) to investigate randomized controlled trials (RCTs) of the gut microbiome for respiratory diseases. The selected trials were analyzed by study design, subject diseases, inclusion/exclusion criteria, sample size, study period, intervention group, control group, outcome measures, and study results. Results: A total of 25 studies were included and published from 1994 to 2021 mostly in Europe and Asia. Subject diseases were many in the order of respiratory tract infection, cystic fibrosis, allergy, and so on. As outcome measures, the gut microbiome in a fecal sample was analyzed by 16S rRNA sequencing analysis method, and symptom assessment tools related each disease were used. Major intervention drugs were probiotics and the results were mostly improved in the composition and diversity of the gut microbiome. Conclusion: Clinical studies of the gut microbiome for respiratory diseases have confirmed various effects and this review provides basic data for a well-designed clinical study for respiratory diseases by regulating the gut microbiome with herbal medicine.
