Objectives : In traditional herbal medicine, as clinical experience increased, the number of herbal formulas also increased. For example, there are 61,739 herbal formulas in Pujifang, and 96,592 in Dictionary of Traditional Chinese Medicine Prescriptions. In chapter of Clear Heat (CH; 淸熱劑) of textbook, the 38 formulas were presented. For enhancing understanding of herbal formula, a large majority of books explained each individual formula with description or figure about interactions between constituent herbs. But there is no study on the interrelationship of each CH herbal formulas. This study investigated the interrelationship of CH herbal formulas. Methods : The CH herbal formula were analyzed with the ingredients, actions and clinical applications by literature study. Results : To improve cognition the interrelationship of CH herbal formulas, we analyzed the formulas and established the 16 interrelations of herbal formulas. Conclusions : Finally, this study established the interrelation of herbal formula as one figure. This result could contribute to improve cognition on the interrelationship of CH herbal formulas.

Objectives : The process of disease treatment in traditional medicine is defined as differentiating patterns and determining treatment. As an important part of this process, the herbal formulas are specific combinations or configurations of medicinal herbs that serve as tools for treatment. As clinical experience increased, the number of herbal formulas also increased. For example, there are 61,739 herbal formulas in Pujifang, and 96,592 in Dictionary of traditional chinese medicine prescriptions. In chapter of Release the exterior syndrome (RES; 解表劑) of textbook, the 42 formulas were presented. For the understanding on the formula, most of books explained with description or figure about the formulas. But there is no study on the interrelationship of each herbal formulas. This study investigated the interrelationship of RES herbal formulas. Methods : The RES herbal formulas were analyzed with the ingredients, actions and clinical applications by literature study. Results : To improve cognition the interrelationship of RES herbal formulas, we analyzed the formulas and established the 19 interrelations of herbal formulas. Conclusions : Finally, this study established the interrelation of herbal formula as one figure. This result could contribute to improve cognition the interrelationship of RES.

Strabismus is a vision disorder in which the eyes do not properly align with each other when looking at an object and it can negatively affect the quality of life. This case is a report on a strabismus patient who received Korean medicine treatment including scalp acupuncture. Scalp acupuncture, body acupuncture, and herbal medicine were performed on a patient diagnosed with strabismus and diplopia. The improvement of symptoms was evaluated by the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS), Scott and Kraft Score (SK score), and change of symptoms and progress of diplopia. NRS decreased by more than 85%, and the SK score gradually changed from -4 to 0, which means strabismus mostly recovered, and the symptom and progress of diplopia were reduced. In this study, it is considered that Korean medical treatment including scalp acupuncture is useful for strabismus patients.

This report is about a case of an ataxia patient with sensory loss diagnosed with thalamic Infarction. The patient had symtoms of gait disturbances and dysmetria. We used Korean medicine treatment modalities including acupunture, electroacupuncture, moxibustion and herb medicines. The improvement of ataxia was evaluated by International Cooperative Ataxia Rating Scale and Balance master^Ⓡ system. After treatment, decreased scores of International Cooperative Ataxia Rating Scale and change of the trace of Balance master^Ⓡ system showed that symtoms of ataxia were improved. Sensory deficits and other conditions were also getting better. This report suggests that Korean medicine could have a therapeutic effect for Thalamic ataxia.

본 증례에서는 COVID-19 후유증기에 호흡곤란을 주소로 내원한 환자에 대하여 한방 호흡재활치료를 시행한 결과 호흡곤란, 기침 등의 증상 및 삶의 질에 임상적으로 의미 있는 호전이 있었고, 향후 COVID-19 후유증 환자에 한방 치료를 활용할 수 있음을 제시하였기에 증례를 보고하는 바이다.

■ Objectives This clinical study is to report the effect of Korean medicine on patient with hot flushing ■ Methods A patient who suffered from hot flushing was treated with herbal medicine 'Gami Ahnjeonbaekho-tang', acupuncture, moxibustion and pharmaco-acupuncture. Degree and frequency of flushing were measured. Digital Infrared Thermal Imaging (DITI) was used to estimate the temperature of skin surface for the outcome assessment ■ Results After taking Gami Ahnjeonbaekho-tang, degree and frequency of hot flushing reduced and skin temperature of patient was reduced on DITI. ■ Conclusion This clinical case study showed the effect of Korean medicine on hot flushing

Objectives: This study identified the effects of Korean medicine treatment on a patient with alcohol-associated cirrhosis. Methods: A 50-year-old male with alcohol-associated cirrhosis was treated with Cheongganhaeju-tang from 10 November 2023 to 18 January 2024 to reduce fatigue, dyspepsia, anorexia, and weight loss and to improve laboratory findings, such as liver enzymes. We observed changes in the patient's symptoms and laboratory findings during a treatment period of approximately 2 months. Results: With Cheongganhaeju-tang treatment, serum levels of liver enzymes remained stable, clinical symptoms improved, and alcohol cravings decreased. Conclusion: This case points to Cheongganhaeju-tang as a therapeutic option to manage alcohol-associated cirrhosis.

Objectives : This case describes the effectiveness on Fidget accompanied with chest discomfort, Nausea, Sleep discomfort by using Cheongnijagam-tang gagam Methods : For relieving symptoms, Korean medical treatments, including herbal medicine, acupuncture and moxibustion, were performed. To evaluate the effects of the treatments, visual analog scale (VAS) was used. Results : After treatments for 5weeks, the clinical symptoms of the patient were improved. Conclusions : This report suggests that herbal medicine is effective for Fidget accompanied with chest discomfort, Nausea, Sleep discomfort.

Objectives : This study was aimed to assess the distribution of metabolic syndrome according to Sasang constitution(SC) in acute stroke patients. Methods : We assessed the type of SC of acute stroke patients in the oriental medical hospitals of 3 universities located in metropolitan region from October 2005 to June 2007 by Ouestionnaire for the Sasang Constitution Classification II(QSCC II). Then, we investigated the general characteristics, the prevalence of each factor of the metabolic syndrome and the prevalence of the metabolic syndrome according to SC. Results : 338 subjects were included into the final analysis. 1. This study showed that the proportion of So-yang was highest of all constitutions(45.9%). 2. The prevalence of high TG, low HDL-chol, high BP, high FBS of Tae-um were higher than those of the other constitutions, but the differencecs were not statistically significant. The prevalence of high WC of Tae-um was significantly higher than other constitutions(p<0.001). 3. The prevalence of metabolic syndrome of Tae-um was significantly higher than other constitutions (p=0.002). Conclusion : There were significant differences in the prevalence of metabolic syndrome according to SC in acute stroke patients. For the further research, it seems to be necessary to construct fundamental databases for stroke by increasing the number of patients and by diagnosing SC more delicately.

Introduction: The aim of this study was to report the effect of Korean medicine treatments on a stroke patient with acute cerebral infarction. Method: A 63-year-old male with anterior and middle cerebral artery infarction had symptoms of dizziness and disorientation. The patient was treated with Korean medicine therapy, including the herbal medicine "Sunghyuangjunggi-san-gamibang." Treatment progress was assessed using the Korean version of the Modified Barthel Index (K-MBI) and the Korean dizziness handicap inventory (K-DHI). Results: After 14 days of treatment, the K-DHI score decreased from 78 to 7 and the K-MBI score increased from 18 to 24. The patient's main symptoms were improved after the treatment, and no side effects were observed. Conclusion: Korean medicine treatment, including Sunghyuangjunggi-san, might be a recommended therapeutic option for dizziness and disorientation in stroke patients.
