In addition to this, this study was to identify of the moderating effect of machiavellism. Design/methodology/approach - This study collected 269 sample questionnaires from employees who are working for Korean companies. To examine the hypotheses, this study used hierarchical regression analysis. Findings - First, results showed that there is a significant positive effect of citizenship behavior for organization on unethical pro-organization behavior, but citizenship behavior for individual did not have any significant effect on unethical pro-organization behavior. Second, same with the previous results, machiavellism only had its significant moderating effect on the relationship between citizenship behavior for organization and unethical pro-organizational behavior, not on citizenship behavior for individual. The moderating effect strengthened the positive relationship. Research implications or Originality - Although organizational citizenship behavior and unethical pro-organization behavior are studied many times, but there is no research examining the relationship between these two concepts. these two concepts share the figure that these behaviors are pro-organizational. The only differences between the two is ethical or not. So, this study identified the relationship and moderating effect of machiavellism. In doing so, this study provided novel implications for the researchers of this filed.

  • This study aims to examine the impact of Korean paternalistic leadership under a hierarchical structure on employee voice and also to compare the differences in leaders' behaviors-authoritarian, benevolent, and moral, and the effects on employee voice between governmental organizations and Quasi-government organizations. The sample of governmental organizations includes 195 employees under job control from at least middle-range or higher managers at local governments and local police agencies in Daegu and Busan metropolitan. The other sample also includes 189 employees reporting directly to managers with job control in public enterprises and government-funded Korean institutes in the same cities. This study employs t-test and regression analysis to test presumed hypotheses. As the results of the analysis, there is a significant difference in authoritarian leadership between governmental organizations and Quasi-government organizations, but both benevolent and moral leadership are not. Benevolent and moral leadership are positively related to employee voice, but authoritarian leadership is not. Based on the analytical results, this research suggests the theoretical implications and the limitations on the applicability of paternalistic leadership into the Korean cultural context for an expanded understanding of leadership theory and practical implications for managers in terms of improvement of employee voice.

  • This paper describes an application level composition mechanism called Generic Modeling Environment(GME) for web caching on an Application Level Active Network(ALAN). Web caching on an ALAN requires the application level composition mechanism and a service composition to support adaptability for self-organization. ALAN was developed to solve the problems of the network level Active Network(AN) ALAN has the features of both AN as well as mobile agents. The efficient composition mechanism for the existing AN Projects has been supported primarily for the network level AN. Conversely, ALAN lacks support for the application level AN The existing web caching technology is inter-connected in a manually configured hierarchical tree. Since a self-organization system is intended to be adaptive, web caching for self-organization does not involve a manual configuration or any low-level tuning of the individual nodes of the entire system but requires service composition to support adapting intelligence and fault-tolerance to enable self-organization.

  • This research aims to explore the relationships between 'teamwork skills' (often called team activity competence) and 'thinking styles' of engineering students in Korea, and to provide an explanation for the application of team-based environment as well as for the increase of teamwork skills. Teams and team activity are pervasive in today's organization and there has been relatively much research on teamwork skills and its related factors. However, to date, little attention has been paid to the teamwork skills, essential factor in team-based environment and its relationships with thinking styles. This study was conducted with 383 engineering students at P University, and students' teamwork skills as well as thinking styles have been measured before and after team-based learning class (hereafter TBL). Our findings show that firstly, there was a significant increase of teamwork skills between before and after TBL class. Second, team activity competence was found to have a higher correlation with most of creativity generating styles (i.e. legislative, judicial, hierarchical and global styles). Third, hierarchical style was found to influence team activity more than other components, and also legislative, external, global and judicial styles contributed to team-based activity. These findings are expected to provide an explanation for the application of thinking styles in team-based environment and will be useful for the improvement of related courses in engineering school.
