대학생의 식생활 라이프스타일에 따른 에스닉 레스토랑의 외식행동 및 이용만족도 (The Study on Dining-out Behavior Ethnic Restaurants by Food-relateds of Undergraduate Students)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate dining-out behavior at ethnic restaurants and its relationship with ethnic restaurant satisfaction based on the food-related lifestyle (FRL) of undergraduate students. A total 306 of questionnaires were analyzed using SPSS ver. 12.0 package. The data were analysed using frequency, chi-square, one-way ANOVA, factor analysis and multiple regression analysis. According to the results of factor analysis, the FRL of undergraduate students categorized into health factor, taste factor, convenience factor and ethnic restaurant satisfaction was influenced by four elements: service & hygiene, food quality & convenience, atmosphere & image and unique culture. In addition, visiting frequency and visiting motivation of all dining-out behaviors at ethnic restaurants were significantly different and the FRL groups had differences in the influence of food quality & convenience, atmosphere & image and unique culture. Futhermore, the health factor of FRL was influenced by all elements of ethnic restaurant satisfaction. The findings indicate that ethnic restaurant owners should provide food with healthy ingredients in addition to unique culture and atmosphere to customers.

Making Ethnicity for Immigrant Children: Focusing on a case of a Korean school in Paris

  • The existence of Korean schools is one of the salient characteristics of Overseas Koreans. How do such schools for Korean immigrants' children try to construct Korean ethnic identity? Also, how is immigrant children's ethnic identity developed and reinforced by the education at those schools? This paper explores these questions based on an ethnographic research at a Korean school in Paris from September 2005 to December 2007. The cultural education for immigrant children at the Korean school has a tendency to emphasize the most exotic traits of Korean culture. And this emphasis on the unfamiliar elements of Korean culture doesn't seem to help to form the ethnic identity of Korean immigrants' children. Instead, the students appear to get the sense of being a member of Koreans more from the education outside of classroom such as scholastic events than in a classroom of a Korean school. That's because scholastic events allow them to play out some of the Korean culture in more inter-ethnic settings. Therefore, it can be concluded that ethnicity of immigrant children is rather developed in inter-ethnic social contexts than born with or taught in class.

한인 이주민의 정착과정에서 한인네트워크 역할 및 활용 방안 - 미국 LA지역 한인 이주민 사례를 중심으로 - (The Role of Korean Ethnic Networks in the Settlement Process of Korean Immigrants and Their Utilization Measures : A Case Study of Korean Immigrants in Los Angeles)

  • 본 연구는 미국 LA지역의 한인 이주민 사례를 통해, 한인 이주민의 정착과정에서 한인네트워크 역할을 살펴보고, 한인네트워크의 활성화 방안을 모색하는 것을 목적으로 한다. 분석결과를 요약하면 다음과 같다. 첫째로, 미국으로의 최초 이주 및 주거지 선정과정에서 대부분의 응답자들은 한인네트워크와 민족공동체인 한인타운을 활용한 것으로 나타난다. 분산분석 결과를 보면, 한인네트워크의 역할은 최초 이주지가 LA지역인 집단, 초기 정착지가 한인타운인 집단, 현지 적응능력이 떨어지는 50대 이상의 고령자인 집단에서 더 중요하게 작용한 것을 확인할 수 있다. 둘째로, 응답자들은 한인네트워크를 종교활동, 쇼핑활동, 경제활동 분야에서 많이 활용하는 것으로 나타난다. 특히, 이주기간이 짧고, 고령이고, 영어능력이 부족하여 미국 주류사회에 편입이 어려운 집단에서 상대적으로 더 많이 활용하는 것으로 나타난다. 셋째로, 한인 이주민의 한인네트워크 활성화 필요성에 대한 인식을 보면, 응답자들은 한인네트워크를 미국 주류사회와의 유대강화를 위해 우선적으로 활용하기를 원하는 것으로 나타난다. 넷째로, 한인네트워크의 활성화 방안으로, 한인교회, 한인 경제단체, 한민족포털, 재외공관을 활용하는 방안을 제시하였다.

현대복식에 나타난 Asian Ethnic Fashion에 대한 연구-동남아시아 지역 중심으로- (The Study of Asian Ethnic Fashion in Modern Fashion-Focusing on Southeast Asia-)

  • Recently Southeast Asia has developed, so the world concerns about these regions. Ethnic fashion in 90's is mostly the influence of these regions' folk costume. The purpose of this study is to review aes-thetic aspects of folk costume in Southeast Asia, to investigate the influence on modern fashion and to predict the possibility of Asia fashion's adaption to modern fashion and to help the cre-ation of fashion design. First of all, the folk costume in Southeast Asia is classified drapery style and sarong style. These non-west clothing appeal to modern fashion as the oriental tranditional beauty. Ethnic fashion appeared in 1990's is attempted to be more complex and variable than the pre-vious ethnic fashion. Asian ethnic fashion influenced from folk costume of Southeast Asia is-wholly or party-the style, color, motif from each country's folk costume. And each country's unique art became the motive of the creative design. Specially, Aosai and Quan in Vietnam and sar-ong style in most Southeast Asia are important motives expressing minority's nostalgia. These are expressed in variable ways. Which are harmonized with latest other fashion trend : retro style and naturalism, Layered look, hippie look, unfinished sewing technic and manual technic are used one image matched the folk costume of Southeast Asia which is natural. Another characterstic in Asian ethnic fashion is a multi-ethnic. This harmonizes the different culture between the Orient and the West beyond the age and culture, and combines each folk costume. It is involved that the fashion can develop indivisual country's costumes mixed with her own unique characteristics and the fashion break the traditional concept and disagree with a certain coordinate rule and it indicates that the fashion shows various style, mood, volume and room as well as space. Like this recent Asian ethnic fashion comes to us in a strange favor. The people who are tired of traditional western civilization's outcome will receive a great tastes from the Asian ethnic fashion.

The Relationship of Country Image, Product-Country Image, and Purchase Intention of Korean Products: Focusing on Differences among Ethnic Groups in South Africa

  • Purpose - The purpose of this study is to provide practical implications for Korean companies searching for new market opportunities. From the experimental analysis, the impact of country image on product-country image and purchase intention of Korean products are measured. In addition, this study disaggregates the impacts of country image and product-country image and purchase intention among ethnic groups in South Africa for searching further useful implications. Design/methodology - To examine South African consumers' country image and product-country image towards Korean products, data were collected between June and July 2019 through an online questionnaire, and 335 questionnaires were used for analysis. Firstly, the multivariate analysis was conducted to examine the general tendency of South African consumers' perceptions of country image to Korea, product-country image, and purchase intention among three ethnic group consumers. Then in order to verify the country image model and hypotheses of the study, we analyzed the structural models for each of the three ethnic groups and compared the sizes of the path coefficients for each groups. To compare the difference of path coefficients across ethnic groups, configural invariance, metric invariance, and scalar invariance tests were conducted sequentially. Findings - In the black and white ethnic groups, the country image had a statistically significant impact on product-country image, but it did not affect the purchase intention to Korean products. The product-country image showed a statistically significant impact on the purchase intention to Korean products in both ethnic group. However, in the coloured ethnic group consumer, the country image had a significant effect on the product-country image, but it did not affect the purchase intention of Korean products. In addition, the product-country image did not have a significant influence on the purchase intention of coloured ethnic group consumers unlike black and white ethnic group consumers. The results of this study suggest that even though differences in terms of the impact of CoI on PCI and PI were investigated for the sample of white, coloured, and black respondents, the groups seemed to respond in a reasonably comparable manner. Originality/value - South Africa occupies more than 20% of Africa's total GDP in sub-Saharan Africa and is a hub for Southern African logistics as a hub for Korean companies to enter Africa. However, it is rare to find a study focused on the determinants of consumer behavior in South Africa. In particular, this study disaggregates the impacts of country image and product-country image on consumer behavior across ethnic groups in South Africa. Therefore, this study could provide practical implications for Korean firms which desire to diversify their export markets and pioneer future markets.

재일 한인사회의 정보활동에 관한 연구 - 주요 한인단체와 매체를 중심으로 - (Information Activities of Korean Ethnic Community in Japan)

  • 이 논문의 목적은 재일 한인사회에서 이루어지고 있는 정보활동을 종합적으로 조사하고 그러한 정보활동이 재일 한인의 일상적 정보요구와 정보 행태에 대처하는데 적합한지에 대해 논의하는데 있다. 재일 한인사회의 정보활동에 대한 조사를 위해서는 한인의 밀집 거주 지역으로 알려진 오사카와 동경 등지의 한인단체와 기관 그리고 언론사 등 모두 51곳에 대한 방문조사 및 관계자 면담을 실시하였다. 정보 행태에 대한 조사를 위해서는 동일한 지역의 한인을 대상으로 설문과 면담을 병행하였는데. 설문조사에는 767명이 면담조사에는 65명이 각각 참여하였다. 논의의 전개는 한인단체와 정보매체의 전반적인 현황을 먼저 살펴보고 그들의 활동을 일상적 정보의 생산 및 유통이라는 측면에서 분석하였으며. 그들의 정보활동이 재일 한인의 정보요구에 적절히 대처하고 있는지에 대해 평가하고 마지막으로 한인단체와 매체를 중심으로 한 정보활동의 바람직한 방향과 추진 방안에 대해 제언하였다.

조선족의 자영업 활동 : 심양시의 두 조선족집거지경제를 사례로 (Small Business of Korean Chinese : The Case of Two Korean-Chinese Enclave Economy in Shenyang City)

  • 심양시의 '서탑'과 '만융' 두 조선족 집거지경제가 출현하게 된 배경에는 조선족이 보유하고 있었던 '개인자원', '가족자원' 외에 '국가자원'과 '민족자원'이 있다. 조선족 집거지 경제가 발전할 수 있었던 것은 농촌에서 도시로 이주해 온 조선족 이민자와 한국에서 중국에 온 한국인으로 인해서 조선족집거지가 확장되었고, 국가가 한국인 자본을 유치하기 위해 조선족집거지경제를 장려하였고, 또 조선족 자신이 한국에서의 노무 경험을 통해서 자본, 기술, 정보 등을 습득할 수 있었기 때문이었다. 이 가운데서 한국인이라는 '민족자원'이 가장 중요하였다. 한국인이 없었다고 하면 조선족집거지경제가 성립할 수 없었을 것이다. 그러나 조선족과 한국인이라는 '이중적 민족자원'으로 인해서 '이중적 민족집거지경제'가 나타내게 되었고, 이로 인해서 조선족 자영업자는 한국인 자영업자와 경쟁해야 하는 처지에 놓이게 되었다. 따라서 조선족 자영업자는 한국인 자영업자와의 협력을 강화하여 민족집거지경제를 발전시키고, 이를 바탕으로 해서 민족집거지 바깥으로 경제활동을 확장해 나가야 하게 되었다. 이것은 또한 지리적 집거에서 네트워크에 의한 집거로의 민족집거지경제의 발전을 의미한다.

Comparison of arch form between ethnic Malays and Malaysian Aborigines in Peninsular Malaysia

  • Objective: To determine and compare the frequency distribution of various arch shapes in ethnic Malays and Malaysian Aborigines in Peninsular Malaysia and to investigate the morphological differences of arch form between these two ethnic groups. Methods: We examined 120 ethnic Malay study models (60 maxillary, 60 mandibular) and 129 Malaysian Aboriginal study models (66 maxillary, 63 mandibular). We marked 18 buccal tips and incisor line angles on each model, and digitized them using 2-dimensional coordinate system. Dental arches were classified as square, ovoid, or tapered by printing the scanned images and superimposing Orthoform arch templates on them. Results: The most common maxillary arch shape in both ethnic groups was ovoid, as was the most common mandibular arch shape among ethnic Malay females. The rarest arch shape was square. Chi-square tests, indicated that only the distribution of the mandibular arch shape was significantly different between groups (p = 0.040). However, when compared using independent t-tests, there was no difference in the mean value of arch width between groups. Arch shape distribution was not different between genders of either ethnic group, except for the mandibular arch of ethnic Malays. Conclusions: Ethnic Malays and Malaysian Aborigines have similar dental arch dimensions and shapes.

신장자치구 무슬림계 소수민족 여성쓰개에 관한 고찰 (A Study on Women's Headgear of Muslim Ethnic Minority in Xinjiang Uygur)

  • Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region is the area with the most Muslim populations in China and the costume of this ethnic minority group was influenced from its surrounding environment and religion. Headgear is one of the important costume elements of Muslim ethnic minority such as Kazakh, Kirghiz, Uzbek, and Tadzhik people, and each group has developed narious forms of it. Especially, we can notice characteristics of headgear in Xinjiang Uygur and four ethnic minority groups through women's headgear pursuant to motive of wear, classification of type, differences and comparability with other areas. Thus, purpose of this study is to investigate women's headgear of Muslim ethnic minority in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region. Based on local data at the Xinjiang Uygur Museum, the study referred to Chinese ethnic minority costume and literature data as well as advanced researches related to Islam, and analyzed characteristics of women's headgear of four ethnic groups in connection with Muslim formation background in Xinjiang Uygur. Women's headgear of Muslim ethnic minority in Xinjiang Uygur can be largely divided into three types; cylindrical, conical and hood type. Headgear was influenced not only by natural environment and weather for protection of body, but also by Islam. Along with strong desire for decoration and expression of racial features, it was used as a means of race discrimination and representation of identity. The religion of Islam within these four ethnic groups grew in accordance with tradition of existing nomadic tribes and regional characteristics, and women's headgear developed in various ways added with religious precepts and nomadic features. Taking everything into consideration, it is found that women's headgear of Kazakh, Kirghiz, Uzbek, and Tadzhik people developed, adopting their own living style and features of minority races instead of remaining identical to the headgear type of Muslim countries in other area.

  • 세계체제론적 관점에서 본다면, 국제인구이동은 선택적 인구이동이라고 할 수 있으며, 이는 국가간 격차의 심화로 이어진다. 또한 문화적으로 보았을 때, 이는 목적지에서의 민족집단별 경쟁과 갈등. 혹은 조화와 같은복잡한 현상들을 유발한다. 기존의 동화론에 의하면, 민족성은 이주집단이 새로운 정착지에서 오랜기간 동안 생활하다보면 자연스럽게 그 성격이 악화되고. 이에 따라 민족집단의 공간적 격리 현상도 점차 사라지게 되는 것으로 간주된다. 그러나 현재 다민족으로 구성된 국가들에서의 다양한 사례를 보게 되면, 그러한 동화가 매우 더디게 진행되거나 혹은 정반대로 민족성과 민족집단장소가 오히려 강화되는 모습을 확인할 수 있다. 민족성과 민족집단장소의 재발견 혹은 재구성은 현대사회의 다문화주의 및 포스트모더니즘 이념과 밀접한 관련이 있다. 민족성과 민족집단장소는 다민족 국가나 도시에 있어서 문화와 경제를 풍요롭게 하는데 큰 역할을 할 수 있는 귀중한자산인 것이다.
