The purpose of this study is to examine longitudinal impacts of various factors on happiness in primary school children. Specifically, attachment theory and ecosystems perspective were utilized for the purpose of this study. We used Korea Youth Panel Survey, which is a 5-year longitudinal data collected from fourth grade in elementary school to second grade in middle school Latent growth model was employed as the analytic method. The findings of this study are as follow: first, academic achievement, self-esteem, parent attachment, peer attachment, teacher attachment, and community attachment all decreased over the 5-year study period. Also, the intercept and the slope variance of variables were found to be statistically significant. This means that there are significant differences in the intercept and the slope of individuals. Second, self-esteem, parent attachment, and peer attachment were found to have cross-sectional influences on happiness. This means that self-esteem, parent attachment, and peer attachment are positively associated with happiness at the intercept. Also, self-esteem, parent attachment, teacher attachment, and community attachment were found to have longitudinal influences on happiness. This means that the higher levels of community attachment at the intercept is associated with slower the rate of decrease in happiness at the slope. In addition, faster rates of decrease in self-esteem, parent attachment, teacher attachment, and community attachment are associated with faster the rate of decrease in happiness. Third, this study conducted multiple group analysis with gender. The findings of this analysis revealed no significant differences in analytic models between males and females. Based on these findings, theoretical and practice implications with regard to happiness in primary school children are discussed.
Using the Korean Survey of Household Finances and Living Conditions panel data from 2012~2016, this study analyzed youth (19~34 years) poverty and employment and examined the factors that affect employment status. The analysis revealed an increase in the proportion of young people who are students or jobless; the economic conditions of the young people varied by factors such as marital status, education, job status, and loans; and the government public transfer policy had little impact on reducing the relative poverty rate of the youth. We also examined the factors affecting the youth's employment status and the risk of being employed in low-paid jobs, using multi-logit and logit regression model respectively. Considering employment status, the older and more educated the youth were, the less frequently they were employed in temporary or daily jobs instead of regular ones, but there was no difference between genders in terms of having temporary or daily jobs. A logit analysis on the determinants of low-paid jobs demonstrated that women, the less educated, spouses or children of the household, and temporary or daily workers have a greater probability of working at low-paid jobs. As women became older, their risk of having low-paid jobs increased, which demonstrated the phenomenon of "lock-in" at low-paid jobs. Temporary or daily workers of all age groups faced a higher risk of lowpaid employment, which stood out for the youth. Based on these results, we suggest that government employment and welfare policies should consider individual characteristics of the youth and their life cycle, along with efforts to supply decent jobs, continuously and stably.
The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of adolescents' mobile phone dependency on depression and aggression and to identify mediating effects of parenting attitudes and peer relationships. This study used data from the 4th and 5th waves of 2010 KCYPS (Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey). Structural Equation Model(SEM) was conducted to examine the mediating effects of parenting attitudes and peer relationships. The results showed that adolescents' mobile phone dependency had positive effects on depression and aggression. In addition, the relationship between adolescents' mobile phone dependency and depression was partially mediated by parenting attitudes and peer relationships. The relationship between adolescents' mobile phone dependency and aggression was also partially mediated by parenting attitudes and peer relationships. Based on these findings, further suggestions are provided to reduce adolescents' depression and aggression by decreasing mobile phone dependency and improving parenting attitudes and peer relationships.

Purpose: This study was conducted to explore the relationship between aggression, self-esteem, and social withdrawal. Methods: This research is a cross-sectional survey. This study used the 5th-year data of the Korean Children & Youth Panel Survey (KCYPS) including 218 middle school students having delinquent behavior. The collected data was analyzed through $x^2$ test, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation, and hierarchical multiple regression, using SPSS/Win (ver. 23.0). Results: Significant positive correlations were found between aggression and social withdrawal and between aggression and self-esteem. Higher aggression was associated with higher social withdrawal and lower self-esteem. The results of the 2-step regression are as follows. Aggression was negatively correlated with self-esteem, whereas self-esteem was positively correlated with social withdrawals. The hierarchical multiple regression showed that 21% of the variance of aggression was significantly accounted for by self-esteem and social withdrawal. The most significant factor influencing aggression was social withdrawal. Conclusion: These results suggest that earlier screening and intervention programs to increase self-esteem and decrease social withdrawal for early adolescents should be developed to prevent aggression.
The aim of this study is to verify whether mediated effect on classmates and teachers occurs while child abuse and neglect have an effect on community sense. For the purpose of this study, among the Korean Children and Youth Panel, data of freshmen from elementary school are gathered through a follow-up survey for 7 years(2010-2017) and data of about 2,001 children are investigated. Also, The research issue -'will there be mediated effect in the relationship between child abuse and neglect and community sense'- is verified by the structural method and presented as follows. First, child abuse and neglect have no significant effect on community sense directly. Second, child abuse and neglect(β=-.663) are found to have a negative influence meaningfully on relationship with classmates and teachers. Third, relationships with classmates and teachers(β=.664) are shown to have a significant positive effect on community sense. Fourth, When child abuse and neglect have an influence on community sense, mediated effect on classmates and teachers(β=-.440) has a meaningful negative effect, Based on these findings, the recommendations for implementing youth welfare are described.
The purpose of this study aimed to examine the effects of ecological systems factors on childhood depression. A total of 2,119 children data from 2013 Korean Children & Youth Panel Survey(the fourth wave)were used in this study. The results of hierarchical regression showed the most ecological systems factors; organisms(child's gender, aggressiveness, attention problems), microsystems(parental neglect, parental abuse, good relationships with friends), exosystem(supportive community environment); had effects on depression. The most influential factors were child's aggressiveness, parental abuse, good relationships with friends, supportive community environment. Finally, this study suggested some implications for practical intervention and further research in childhood depression.

The purpose of this paper was to understand the mediating effect of academic achievement on the relationship between youth activity participation and career decision-making in middle school students. To this end, data from the KCYPS2018 (Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey 2018) were used, and this research proceeded with 2,471 middle school 1st grade students. This analysis method was a regression analysis to examine any mediating effect. And the findings are as follows. Middle school students' youth activities participation had a significant effect on career decision-making and academic achievement, and the effect of youth activities participation on career decision-making was mediated in part by academic achievement. Thus, a variety of youth activity programs should be developed and provided to middle school students to increase their motivation and academic achievement. Education and training for youth leaders and teachers should be provided to help middle school students make career decisions by operating youth activity programs in conjunction with the free semester system.

The objective of this study was to verify the longitudinal reciprocal causal relationship between depression and the somatic symptoms of depression among adolescents through an autoregressive cross-lagged model using data from the Korean Children & Youth Panel Survey. The subjects of this study included 1,968 adolescents, who participated in the second, fourth, and sixth Korean Children & Youth Panel Surveys. The results showed that both depression and the somatic symptoms of depression at a previous point in time affect depression and the somatic symptoms of depression at a later point in time. It was also found that depression at a previous point in time has a cross-lagged effect on the somatic symptoms of depression at a later point in time, implying that more severe depression at a previous point in time leads to increased severity of somatic symptoms at a later point in time. It was found that the somatic symptoms of depression at a previous point in time have a cross-lagged effect on depression at a later point in time, indicating that more severe somatic symptoms of depression at a previous point in time lead to increased severity of depression at a later point in time. This study is significant in that it provides baseline information about nursing interventions for adolescent mental health.
This study aimed to examine the relationship between children's perceived levels of neglect and abuse and community characteristics. For this, it analyzed data from the Korean Children & Youth Panel Survey and data collected from the Statistics Korea. Main findings are as follows. First, children who resided in the communities with higher report rates of child maltreatment perceived higher levels of neglect. Second, children who resided in the communities with higher rates of welfare recipients, lower residential mobility, or lower rates of those who responded they had someone to ask for help when they were sick tended to perceive higher levels of neglect. Third, while the perceived levels of abuse were explained by the child factors, those of neglect were explained by child, family, and community factors. Based on these findings, this study suggested the interventions on the community levels and future research directions.
